The vertical metal walls of the waveguide resonators are realized by closely spaced metal filled vias, while adjacent resonators are coupled vertically by square apertures or narrow slots. Two kinds of filters with Chebyshev and elliptical response are designed for 60-GHz-band application. From the results, the circuit area of the filter with Chebyshev response can be reduced to 25% as compared to a conventional planar direct-coupled waveguide filter.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124960692","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The resulting combined equations are established through splitting given fields into two wavefields, each of which corresponds to respective isotropic mediums. For the modeling of arbitrarily shaped surfaces, the triangulated patches are employed and the Rao-Wilton-Gllison function is selected as the basis function and testing function when the moment of method is applied to solve the resulting integral equations numerically. Numerical results for Pasteur-type bodies are compared with the existing data and good agreements are obtained. Also, the Tellegen-type bodies are calculated. The effects of constitutive parameters on the bistatic cross section are investigated and discussed.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129484471","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, to get accurate performance prediction which is useful to engineering design, realistic imperfect effects should not be ignored. In this paper, based on the low side-lobe array radiation patterns, which take the effect of mutual coupling between elements into account, we present the interference suppression coefficients of the co-channel access interference (CCI) and the multiple access interference (MAI), and derive the approximate formulas of the output signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR/sub O/) and the bit error rate (BER). These formulas provide a fast and simple way to evaluate the performance of CDMA systems with smart antennas.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126896481","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For the expected application of the UHF RFID systems, such as a supply chain integration, industrial automation, track and trace, and so on, the small and efficient printed antenna is required. To reduce the antenna size and to minimize the efficiency lowering due to small size, the proposed antenna is designed to have the spiral structure rather than the meander structure. In this structure, the current cancellation on the antenna is much less than in the meander structures, and the total current induces an identical magnetic dipole, which makes the omni-directional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is designed for UHF RFID systems of Korea, to have the operating frequency bandwidth of 908 MHz-913 MHz for VSWR < 2. The antenna has the physical size of 15.5 mm by 14.8 mm, which is about lambda over 16 in electrical length. This antenna is fabricated on the PET dielectric, to be utilized as an antenna of the transponder for the application of the UHF RFID systems.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"716 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123844930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Errors between the desired scan directions and the outgoing rays' directions in the scanning range are minimized by adjusting the reflector shape. This technique can be used to decrease the active element number of the feed array during the antenna scans, or reduce the gain loss caused by beam scanning when the number of active elements is given. An offset reflector antenna system is designed and analyzed, through which the validity of the technique given in this paper is demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124030979","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The left-handed filter has a centre frequency of 1.35 GHz and 28% fractional bandwidth with passband insertion loss less than 0.3dB and return loss better than 13 dB. The size of the filter is about 1 mm/sup 2/. At such frequency range, the same filter using conventional technology has the size at lease around a few square centimetres. Space saving in the order of two to three has been achieved. In addition, this report demonstrates that a step improvement in miniaturisation of RF/microwave components can be achieved using the proposed multilayer left-handed metamaterials.","PeriodicalId":253574,"journal":{"name":"2005 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference Proceedings","volume":"152 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2005-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121292483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
