In this context, the present paper compares two strategies to design a supervisor of the Multivariable Generalized Predictive Controller (MGPC), based on multiobjective optimization. Thus, the purpose of this work is the automatic adjustment of the MGPC synthesis by simultaneously minimizing a set of closed loop performances (the overshoot and the settling time for each output of the MIMO system). First, we adopt the Weighted Sum Method (WSM), which is an aggregative method combined with a Genetic Algorithm (GA) used to minimize a single criterion generated by the WSM. Second, we use the Non- Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II (NSGA-II) as a Pareto method and we compare the results of both the methods. The performance of the two strategies in the adjustment of multivariable predictive control is illustrated by a simulation example. In the context of AIM, autonomous vehicles are considered to be independent individuals and the traffic control aims at deciding on an efficient vehicle passing sequence. Since there are considerable vehicle passing combinations, how to find an efficient vehicle passing sequence in a short time becomes a big challenge, especially for more than one intersection. In this paper, we present a technique for combining certain vehicles into some basic groups with reference to some properties discussed in our earlier works. A genetic algorithm based on these basic groups is designed to find an optimal or a near-optimal vehicle passing sequence for each intersection. Computational experiments verify that the proposed genetic algorithms can response quickly for several intersections. Simulations with continuous vehicles are carried out with application of the proposed algorithm or existing traffic control methods. The proposed strategy consists in checking if the expected input value belongs to an estimated feasible set computed using the system model and the derivatives of the measured output vector. The output derivatives are computed using a numerical differentiator. The set-membership estimator design for the input vector takes into account the measurement noise thereby making the consistency test robust. The presented analyses are reduced to the problem of a feasibility study of the Linear Matrix Inequalities (LMIs), derived based on Lyapunov stability theory. Two sets of LMIs are considered candidate derived from the classical common quadratic Lyapunov function, which may in some cases be too conservative, and a fuzzy Lyapunov function candidate, which has been proven to significantly reduce the conservatism level, although at the cost of increasing the number of LMIs. Existing hybrid estimation schemes try to overcome the problem of an exponentially growing number of possible mode-sequence/continuous-state combinations by merging hypotheses and/or deducing likelihood measures to identify tractable sets of the most likely hypotheses. However, they still suffer from unnecessarily high computational costs as the number of possible modes increases. Hybrid diagnosis schemes, on the other hand, estimate the current mode of operation/failure only, thus leaving the continuous evolution of the system implicit. This paper proposes a novel scheme that uses a combination of both the approaches in order to define posterior transition probabilities between the specified modes of the hybrid system, hence focusing better on relevant hypotheses. The problems under study are exemplified by the synthesis of a position and yaw angle control system for a drillship described by a 3DOF nonlinear mathematical model of low-frequency motions made by the drillship over the drilling point. In the proposed control system, use is made of a set of (stable) linear modal controllers that create a linear adaptive controller with variable parameters tuned appropriately to operation conditions chosen on the basis of two measured auxiliary signals. These are the ship’s current forward speed measured in reference to the water and the systematically calculated difference between the course angle and the sea current (yaw angle). The system synthesis is carried out by means of four different methods for system pole placement after having linearized the model of low-frequency motions made by the vessel at its nominal “operating points” in steady states that are dependent on the specified yaw angle and the sea current velocity. A due window is a generalization of the classical due date and describes a time interval in which a job should be finished. If a job is completed before or after the due window, it incurs an earliness or a tardiness penalty, respectively. In this survey we separately analyse the classical models with job-independent and job-dependent earliness/tardiness penalty functions and some other more complicated models. We describe the computational complexity of the problems and the main features of the approaches developed to solve them. Particular attention is paid to practical applications of the analysed models. Dala","doi":"10.2478/amcs-2013-0007","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2478/amcs-2013-0007","url":null,"abstract":"The paper presents the development of modelling and control strategies for a six-degree-of-freedom, unmanned combat aerial vehicle with the inclusion of the centre of gravity position travel during the straight-leg part of an in-flight refuelling manoeuvre. The centre of gravity position travel is found to have a parabolic variation with an increasing mass of aircraft. A nonlinear dynamic inversion-based neurocontroller is designed for the process under investigation. Three radial basis function neural networks are exploited in order to invert the dynamics of the system, one for each control channel. Modal and time-domain analysis results show that the dynamic properties of the aircraft are strongly influenced during aerial refuelling. The effectiveness of the proposed control law is demonstrated through the use of simulation results for an F-16 aircraft. The longitudinal neurocontroller provided interesting results, and performed better than a baseline nonlinear dynamic inversion controller without neural network. On the other hand, the lateral-directional nonlinear dynamic inversion-based neurocontroller did not perform well as the longitudinal controller. A modified Newton-Raphson algorithm is used to estimate the frequencies of the considered model, which is further used to estimate other linear parameters. It is proved that the modified Newton- Raphson algorithm is robust and the corresponding estimators of frequencies attain the same convergence rate with Least Squares Estimators (LSEs) under the same noise conditions, but it outperforms LSEs in terms of the mean squared errors.
