The circuit demonstrates a 3 dB bandwidth of 97–134GHz with peak output power of 1 dBm for 1 dBm input power. The fundamental suppression, measured at the single-ended output, is better than 21 dBc while the frequency doubler consumes 69mW from a 3.3V supply. The doubler is preceded by a differential amplifier functioning as an active balun to generate a differential signal for the Gilbert cell.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"491 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115416906","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unique radar modulation/demodulation method can achieve both a high range resolution and a long-range detection performance with a narrow band receiver compared with the transmission bandwidth. In this paper, the experimental verification to compare the detection range performances between Stepped multiple frequency CPC and Pulse compression was conducted. The experimental results indicated that the proposed modulation was 1.72 times superior to Pulse compression in the detection range performance on the condition where the transmission bandwidth, observation time, peak power, code length (the number of chips of switching codes), and the number of total pulses were set to be the same.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114476874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to paint on the bumper that may contain metallic powder and to the complicated structure around installed radars, the angle detected by the radars can sometimes contain a bias error related to the signal source angle. Because the cost to calibrate radars after installation behind a bumper is high, we consider a framework of self-correction as an alternative. In this framework, there is no need to calibrate with a target's known angle ; rather, we can generate a correction table using Gaussian process MCMC simply from the radar observations.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132420648","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Excitation phases of radiating elements in traveling wave antennas are controlled by changing the connection point along the feeding line. As the radiating elements are connected on the both sides of the feeding line, the effective element spacing in the perpendicular direction of the feeding line of the comb-line antenna can be almost a half of the spacing of the feeding lines. The amplitude distribution is also designed for low-sidelobe characteristic. In this paper, a five-beam switching antenna composed of five independent microstrip comb-line antennas with five different beams is proposed. The performance of the proposed antenna is demonstrated by simulation and measurement in this work.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132096136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Chipless radio identification (RFID) is well suited for this type of task due to its low-cost production and extreme robustness against environmental influences. Furthermore, RFID transponders based on time domain reflectometry can be interrogated by chirp sequence radar systems. To achieve high data capacities and acceptable tag dimensions, we use an ultra-wideband system. High integration/measurement times that are reasonable yield increased velocity resolution and sufficient signal-to-noise ratios. If a 2D-FFT-based processing step is applied, the high measurement time combined with the high relative bandwidth lead to a smearing in velocity and range dimensions, which significantly diminishes system performance. We first investigate the reasons for this effect, which prevents the TDR RFID transponder from being decoded, and then propose appropriate remedial action. We verify the applicability of the presented UWB chirp sequence processing technique to localize vehicles using chipless RFID by experiments in a laboratory.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125865166","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structure has a transmission electrode sandwiched between the reception electrodes. It alleviates unwanted degradation in power transfer efficiency even when the reception electrodes move from their original positions. Simulation results show that the coupler maintains 90.1 % or higher in power transfer efficiency when the electrodes move within +/- 30 % of total sandwich space. This is 69.9 points higher than a conventional coupler having the same dimension. The new structure can contribute to the development of future high operation rate automatic guided vehicles working in factory automation.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"103 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128129119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We therefore introduce a multiclass classifier to determine the classes of an object relying solely on radar data. This is a challenging problem as objects of the same category have often a diverse appearance in radar data. As classification methods a random forest classifier and a deep convolutional neural network are evaluated. To get good results despite the limited training data available, we introduce a hybrid approach using an ensemble consisting of the two classifiers.
