A high sensor density increases the probability of interferences, especially when the sensors occupy a large radar bandwidth. Many current sensors, e.g. chirp sequence radars, rely on frequency modulation schemes. A promising future radar concept applies orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). This paper investigates the interference effect of an OFDM radar on a chirp sequence radar. Potential interference levels are derived and the influence of modulation parameters is evaluated with simulations.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124802413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, straightforward approaches like that of Oriented Bounding Box generally fail in challenging automotive scenarios, when only one side of the vehicle is visible to the radar. In this paper, an estimation approach based on Generalized Hough Transform matching is presented and examined for its use in such automotive scenarios. An optimization method is discussed and finally, the algorithm is compared against a classic approach.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-05-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129279641","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A retroreflector mimicking a conventional retroreflector of a cylindrical dielectric embedded in a concave metal is designed with an full-tensor anisotropic materials based on the transformation electromagnetics. First, we confirm that the constructed experimental model is working as a cavity resonator by simulation and theoretical formula. Next, we calculate the maximum power transmission efficiency using a model which is placed inside the scatterers by installing a Rx at the line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) position in the Tx. As a result, the expected transmission efficiency of more than 30 % in the NLOS position from Tx, is clarified. Then, we investigate the feeding method at several positions, and it is confirmed that Time Division Power Feeding is a superior method than Simultaneous Power Feeding to all Rx. Finally, we experiment with power transmission to drive a battery-less sensor in the experimental model using full-shielding with a metal mesh model. We confirm that simultaneous communication can be performed with driving of the battery-less sensor by CR WPT.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"384 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121619933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With enhanced resolution capabilities more accurate and denser point clouds of traffic participants and roadside infrastructure can be acquired and so the amount of gathered information is growing drastically. One main driver for this development is the global trend towards self-driving cars, which all rely on precise and fine-grained sensor information. New radar signal processing concepts have to be developed in order to provide this additional information. This paper presents a prototype high resolution radar sensor which helps to facilitate algorithm development and verification. The system is operational under real-time conditions and achieves excellent performance in terms of range, velocity and angular resolution. Complex traffic scenarios can be acquired out of a moving test vehicle, which is very close to the target application. First measurement runs on public roads are extremely promising and show an outstanding single-snapshot performance. Complex objects can be precisely located and recognized by their contour shape. In order to increase the possible recording time, the raw data rate is reduced by several orders of magnitude in real-time by means of constant false alarm rate (CFAR) processing. The number of target cells can still exceed more than 10 000 points in a single measurement cycle for typical road scenarios.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121057910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The delay line should take place afterward in an automotive radar target simulator. The initial specifications require merging different technologies to simulate the desired distances from 0.2 m to 250 m with a high resolution and a large frequency band better than 800 MHz. Three technologies are highlighted, SAW filters, optical fibers and LTCC components, to generate delays between 1.3 ns and 1.67 µs. Prototypes were realized, tested and characterized for each technology. Moreover, a hybridization of these technologies is proposed together, with the whole delay line simulations.","PeriodicalId":253460,"journal":{"name":"2017 IEEE MTT-S International Conference on Microwaves for Intelligent Mobility (ICMIM)","volume":"283 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-03-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127393165","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An analogous culmination should also come to roadway vehicles for our sustainable future. Electrification of roadways, even only on expressways, enables dynamic powering electric vehicles to cruise for a long distance with a minimum amount of battery onboard. A challenging technology to bring out this revolution is called via-wheel power transfer or V-WPT. For the first trial experiment, a prototype vehicle is developed by featuring a V-WPT device. Despite removing all batteries from the vehicle, it successfully runs on an electrified test course installed at a university campus.
