Two different types of neural networks have been used in this study to form state space neural networks, namely feedforward neural networks (FFNN) and radial basis neural networks (RBNN). The work presents analysis of FFNN and RBNN based state space models developed for Tokamak reactors. It has been found that the developed neural network state space models are computationally more efficient and equally accurate when compared to the standard state space models. However, initially some time investment is required to train the neural networks. The predictive quality of both FFNN and RBNN has been found to be similar. FFNN are preferred over the RBNN because of their overall less computational load. In general the application of neural networks resulted in time savings up to 95%. This saving in time is a function of number of states, inputs and outputs present in the original state space model.","PeriodicalId":253329,"journal":{"name":"7th International Multi Topic Conference, 2003. These various objective problems are rarely encompassed by a single synthesis criterion. While some tracking and robustness are best captured by the H/sub /spl infin// criterion noise insensitivity is more naturally expressed in H/sub 2/ terms, and transient behaviors are easily tuned in terms of L/sub 1/ norms or closed loop damping. We present a methodology for designing mixed L/sub 1//H/sub 2//H/sub /spl infin// controllers for MIMO systems through linear matrix inequalities (LMI) techniques. These controllers allow for minimizing the worst case peak output due to disturbances and noise, and acquire robust pole placement by satisfying multi-objective criteria. A physically motivated example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the mix-controller for mix performance and robustness.","PeriodicalId":253329,"journal":{"name":"7th International Multi Topic Conference, 2003. Among these, one of the dimensions is analysis of network traffic and prediction of the traffic for future networks. The fast growth of DCN (data communication networks) over the past decades has resulted in the development of various network utilities, which perform network evaluation in different domains. We present Monitor for Ethernet Network Traffic (MENeT). The toolkit is an extension. to the earlier developed utility for traffic monitoring. The purpose of MENeT is to capture and dissemble the packets flowing through a LAN (local area network) pipe. The execution mode of the MENeT is absolutely at run time. MENeT tracks the packets as they move on from the lowest layer to the upper layer in the TCPAP protocol stack; it efficiently decrypts all the incoming packets using the RFC (request for comments) standards. The MENeT is developed to be operational on the platform of Windows NT/2000. The results suggest that the MENeT successfully decrypts all the incoming network traffic accurately and efficiently.","PeriodicalId":253329,"journal":{"name":"7th International Multi Topic Conference, 2003. Moreover, different development environments and operating system utilities provide different interfaces and services to the communications protocol stack. Recently a significant body of work has been conducted in developing extensible object oriented design patterns to document and disseminate solutions to various recurring problems of communicating data between components of distributed applications. Reliable and efficient communications is achieved through the use of event driven and multithreaded components. One such programming environment that has successfully demonstrated operation on a collection of heterogeneous computing elements incorporated by one or more networks is the parallel virtual machine (PVM). It has been used on high end computing resources such as mainframe computers, multiprocessors, hypercubes, and the like. In Pakistan, the most common computing resource is a low cost PC. The abundance of such machines provides an opportunity to develop and use a \"poor man's supercomputer\". In addition, research on PVM has focused on Unix or similar platforms. None of the formal results, to evaluate certain benchmark applications, are available on Windows-based environments. The architecture exploits the principles of pipelining and parallelism in order to obtain high speed and throughput. The modules of the design fit on a Xilinx XC4010XL FPGA with 130 K gates running at a clock frequency of 32.31 MHz. The proposed architecture follows the Analog Devices SHARC/sup /spl reg// (super Harvard architecture) DSP standard. This DSP architecture balances a high performance processor core with high performance buses, program memory (PM) and data memory (DM). In the core, every instruction can execute in a single cycle. The buses and instruction cache provide rapid, unimpeded dataflow to the core to maintain the execution rate.","PeriodicalId":253329,"journal":{"name":"7th International Multi Topic Conference, 2003. The Framework reuses the concepts, algorithms and core technologies of legacy security systems while introducing changes necessary to support extensible integration with XML. This allows interoperability with a wide range of existing infrastructures and across deployments. Currently no strict security models and mechanisms are available that can provide specification and enforcement of security policies for XML documents. Such models are crucial in order to facilitate a secure dissemination of XML documents, containing information of different sensitivity levels, among (possibly large) user communities.","PeriodicalId":253329,"journal":{"name":"7th International Multi Topic Conference, 2003. We investigate the performance of the uplink spatial fading correlation of a MIMO channel. We consider four uniform circular array (UCA) elements at both mobile station and base station. The angle of arrival and the angle of departure at the base station and the mobile station are distributed by truncated Gaussian and uniform probability distribution function(s) respectively. For large values of N, the simulation and analytical results agree.
