The energy requirement in the world is ever increasing due to the increase in population and their standard of living. There exists a gap between power generation and power demand. The energy demand imposes several challenges on the conventional fossil fuels like oil, gas, and coal. Due to these challenges the renewable energy sources plays an important role in distributed generation, micro grid, and smart grid Among different renewable energy sources the solar and wind is having great potential of supplying energy to meet the demand. The renewable energy sources are fluctuating in nature hence the hybridization is required to overcome the fluctuating nature to an extent. In this project the dual input single output DC-DC converters are proposed for stand-alone systems. The converter is a combination of CUK and SEPIC converter called CUK-SEPIC fused converter.","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124284866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years combination of recurrent filter neurons with Fuzzy neural networks has gained significance to provide the identification of the temporal nature of the time series data. Further to increase the dimension of the input space the consequent part of the fuzzy rules are augmented with functional link networks and this provides a better approximation of the input-output mapping. Besides to provide faster learning in comparison to the gradient descent or evolutionary techniques a robust H-infinity unscented Kalman filter is used. Some of the energy market load time series data are used for numerical experimentation to highlight the significant improvement in the prediction performance of the hybrid Functional Link Fuzzy neural network (FLFNN).","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116863813","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is well known that the power signals undergo dynamic transitions during power quality and fault type disturbances. Also accurate estimation of amplitude, phase and frequency of a sinusoid in the presence of harmonics/inter harmonics and noise plays an important role in wide variety of power system applications, like protection, power quality control and state monitoring. One of the widely used approach like the Fourier linear combiners become ineffective to track the sudden changes in the power harmonic amplitude and phase angles in the presence noise and distortions. This paper, therefore, presents a new adaptive robust Kalman filter (REKF) for estimating the fundamental and harmonic phasors and frequency in a distributed generation systems suitable for the detection of islanding, nonislanding and switching events. The REKF is based on linear H-infinity technique to avoid the error divergence due to linearization and Jacobian formulation in the usual extended Kalman filter (EKF). Further the noise covariance matrices of the robust Kalman filter are tuned iteratively to produce faster convergence and speed of accuracy in tracking time varying harmonic phasors.","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116401577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Mandrel of known shape is inserted before casting process. Removal of centering ring, mandrel and bottom plate after curing is highly hazardous operation known as `decoring'. Friction overload in mandrel removal may cause explosion. Similarly bottom plate removal is highly risky since the bottom plate is in close interface of the explosive material. Sudden impact on the bottom plate may again initiate explosion. These may seriously destruct infrastructure and manpower in vicinity. This paper describes the process modification and development of the remote decoring process. Crane hoisting mandrel operation using PLC and hydraulically operated bottom operation was developed for remote operation. Both the operations were programmed and interfaced to SCADA. The crane weighing system has been incorporated for online frictional load measurement and trip provision has been given for friction overload condition. The development of the automated and remote operation for enhanced safety was carried out which shall save lives and infrastructure in case of eventuality.","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122600154","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various face recognition algorithms has been proposed in the literature. The face recognition system mainly consists of two steps i.e. feature extraction / reduction and classification. One of the most popular tool, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used for feature extraction. For classification purpose, various distance classifiers as well as Support Vector Machines (SVM) with various kernels are used. Radial basis function (RBF) kernel in SVM is one of the widely used kernels for this purpose. In this paper, Mexican hat wavelet kernel based SVM is proposed for classification and the comparison of this kernel with other classification methods are examined. The proposed kernel performs better in terms of no. of support vectors compared to RBF kernel and the recognition rate is also high with less number of features.","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114297260","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a new method for detection and classification of cardiac ailments from multilead electrocardiogram (MECG) is presented. The singular value decomposition (SVD) is used to convert the MECG data matrix into two unitary matrices (eigen matrices) and one diagonal matrix. According to clinical importance, first few atoms from the eigen matrices are selected. The root mean square error (RMSE) between the unitary matrices of both template MECG and analyzed MECG are used as diagnostic eigen error (DEE) features. The combination of singular values of analyzed MECG and DEE features are used as input to the least square support vector machine (LSSVM) classifier. The LSSVM detect the cardiac ailments such as myocardial infarction and hypertrophy. An average accuracy of 95.07% is found using LSSVM classifier with radial basis function (RBF) kernel and 5-fold cross-validation scheme.","PeriodicalId":253244,"journal":{"name":"2015 IEEE Power, Communication and Information Technology Conference (PCITC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121498285","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
