Surface water and sediments were collected at seven selected sites along the Sombriero River. The dry season sampling was carried out in December, 2020, while the wet season sampling took place in May, 2021. The samples were analyzed in the laboratory following standard operational procedures. The results indicated high alterations (p< 0.05) in the concentrations of cadmium, nickel, zinc, iron, total dissolved solids, turbidity, biochemical oxygen demand, and chemical oxygen demand, beyond the background values of Nigeria’s Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) and Federal Ministry of Environment (FMENV). The majority of the heavy metals, notably copper, cadmium, lead, manganese, nickel, zinc, and iron, had higher concentrations in water during the dry season, while sodium, potassium, and magnesium showed an increase in concentration in surface water during the wet season. However, the pH level was within the target background values of DPR and FMENV, and showed no significant variation in the dry and wet seasons. For instance, surface water had a pH range of 6.65 –7.18 in the wet season, and 6.93 –7.18 in the dry season. Sediments ranged from 6.06 – 6.59 and 6.10 – 6.88 during the wet season and dry season, respectively. This study underscores the experimental effectiveness of these catalysts in the decomposition process of solid propellants which enhances fast decomposition through decreasing their exothermic peak temperature. Such kind of improvements in propellant oxidizer and binder fuel help to increase the efficiency of rocket missiles. \u0000GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT \u0000 This short review includes the discussion on thermolysis of propellant oxidizers and their composite solid propellants from the few prime lists of literature. This aims to understand the behavior of nanomaterials as a catalyst for the thermal decomposition of propellant oxidizer ammonium perchlorate. Ammonium perchlorate has a polyhedron-like shape that undergoes decomposition upon heating from room temperature to ~420 ℃ with gaseous by-products. In the presence of catalyst, the decomposition occurred at a lower temperature than the pure ammonium perchlorate. Thus, it can be used in the formulation of propulsion systems that mainly improve their burn rate ultimately helpful in rocketry. \u0000

In this technique, the source atoms or electrons are bombarded on the target material that sputters target metal atoms. The emitted target atoms are deposited on the substrate in the form of thin films. Several sputtering parameters control the rate at which films are deposited. These sputtering parameters include voltage applied, sputter yield, type of the gas used, type of the target material used, type of the substrate on which the thin films are to be deposited, the working pressure of the system, power, temperature of the system and substrate, angle of incidence of bombardment and distance between target and substrate. These parameters are essential to have thin films of desired thickness and properties. Modulating the solvent strength (SG-SMB) improves the performance of the simulated moving bed process-SMB, resulting in a significant increase in purities and productivity, as well as a reduction in solvent consumption. The amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine were separated using the phi-plot optimization method, which has never been investigated before in the context of SG-SMB process separation. The mass transfer kinetic parameters were determined through the chromatographic dynamic data and incorporated into the SG-SMB simulator for the validation of the optimization conditions by the Phi-plot method. A series of optimization studies were carried out varying the solvent concentration and the process flow rates in the context of triangle theory. The dynamic stepwise SG-SMB simulator was used to evaluate the ideal operational conditions for separation using the phi-plot optimization approach. For the conditions studied, the new phi-plot optimization approach was able to determine the optimal operational settings for producing high-purity separations in the extract and raffinate, which was validated by the simulator. The optimization results of the studied conditions were plotted in the triangle theory separation regions which confirms the optimization technique as a viable search routine for such complex task of determination of the best operational conditions of SG-SMB.

They are held responsible in enormous fields like diagnosis, bio-imaging, drug delivery, cancer therapy, environmental applications, biosensors, electronics, etc., due to their unique physicochemical properties. Among many noble metals, Palladium (Pd) is one such metal that has gained attention in this review. Plant-based biosynthesis has revealed the possibilities of synthesizing nanometric range palladium particles, their stabilization and impact of varying pH, temperature and concentration mostly on development and morphology with nanoparticles. the biosynthesized particles were determined using UV-Visible spectral analysis, FTIR, SEM, TEM - EDX as well as DLS technique whose findings were in support to the role of phytochemicals operating as reducing and stabilizing agents during the Pd (II) reduction to Pd(0). The antimicrobial activity of palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) synthesized from different plant extracts was also studied against various pathogens. The results showed the ability of Pd NPs to make the microbes susceptible by a clear zone of inhibition. Despite of all these experiments, the research demands further extensive study to bring out an exact mechanism for the process of Pd (II) reduction to Pd (0) and mode of action of Pd NPs against microbes.

The aim of this study is to estimate the potential risks caused by heavy metals to human health from exposure to Cd, As, Pb and Hg through the intake of yellow and red apple considering the age group and gender. The concentration of each of the metals was quantified by spectrometry of atomic absorption (AAS) and the health risk indices such as health risk index (HRI), the hazard quotient (THQ) and the probability of carcinogenic risk (CR) through the consumption of apple were estimated. The concentrations of the metals analyzed in the apple samples shows the following decreasing order: Cd > Pb > As and Hg. The health risk assessments obtained from the samples of apples are located within the acceptable and tolerable limits; however, the increase in the intake of heavy metals through consumption of apples purchased from the study area may increase the health risk potential of consumers. For this reason, it is recommended to carry out studies on the concentration of heavy metals in various fruits products, mainly those of high demand, to guarantee food security of the population.
