Neural networks are effective alternatives to conventional methods such as statistical and stochastic modeling methods, which could be computationally expensive, or analytical methods which could be difficult to obtain for new environments, or empirical modeling solutions whose range and accuracy may be limited. Power-line communication (PLC) is a useful way to transmit data and exchange information based on power-line channel. Due to the multi-path propagation inherently in the power line channel, the characteristic of power line channel is analyzed in this paper. The modeling of multi-path propagation is completed base on conventional way and ANN. Results of different modeling methods are analyzed. It is proved that ANN-based modeling of communication channel is an efficient method. This makes stable foundation for future power-line communication simulation.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"43 4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125757185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parallel interference cancellation (PIC) channel estimation algorithm by simultaneously eliminating the interference of adjacent cells was proposed in this paper to improve the accuracy of channel estimation. The proposed algorithm reconstructed the strong interference signal of each cell based on the knowledge of initial estimated channel impulse response (CIR) results of each cell. Then the interference of all the other cells was cancelled in-parallel to get a more clean signal for a more precise channel estimation of the target user. Simulations showed that a lower estimation error can be achieved by eliminating effectively the interference from strong interfering users in adjacent cells and then the performance of TD-SCDMA system was improved.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131101563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose, the registration error, caused by inaccurate image registration, is considered as the noise mean added in the observation noise known as additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN). Based on this consideration, two constraints are regulated pixel by pixel within the framework of Millerpsilas regularization, and combined with regularization parameters to construct one cost function. The regularization parameters are adaptively estimated in each pixel in terms of the registration error, as well as in each observation channel in terms of the AWGN. Simulation shows that the proposed regularized SR algorithm can fuse the information from multiple LR images effectively and achieve the reconstructed HR images with much sharper edges and higher PSNR.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128239457","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A novel video image scaling algorithm based on morphological edge interpolation was put forward in this paper. This algorithm filtered noise and smooth images by morphological opening-closing operation, and it restrained those faint edges of scaled images obtained by using the traditional methods because that the original video images often had been contaminated by noise. Two interpolation algorithms were used for edge regions and plain regions respectively. Simulation studies show that the proposed algorithm is more efficient for image scaling than conventional image scaling algorithms, and the edges of result images were less blurring.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126724091","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also can obtain reliable data transmission with high speed. The paper studies the channel estimation technique in a digital radio broadcast receiver based on OFDM-DRM. Due to the time and frequency selective variance of the channel encountered during OFDM transmission, the channel response has to be estimated in order to get exact data. This is done by using the known scattered pilots transmitted in OFDM symbols. OFDM based digital radio system adopts linear interpolation, windowed FFT interpolation and Wiener interpolation, in which Wiener interpolation is the best but requires a large quantity of computational consumption. The paper analyzes the Wiener algorithm..and simulates the MSE versus SNR for different Wiener filtering methods, and presents the flow charts of Wiener algorithm and realizes them in the computer.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"11 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127971251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

At first, a variable-length average magnitude difference function (VLAMDF) that is able to alleviate the adverse effects of intrinsic falling minima of the conventional AMDF, has been proposed. We argue that the fast Fourier transform (FFT) power spectrum of the VLAMDF is capable of revealing an estimate of a pitch-harmonic (PH) more accurately even in a heavy noisy scenario. Then, exploiting the extracted PH, a two-fold criterion is developed in the FFT domain to acquire the corresponding harmonic number for the determination of the pitch. The superior efficacy of the proposed pitch estimator relative to some of the existing ones is confirmed through simulation results using the Keele database.","PeriodicalId":250993,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-06-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132356799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
