The traditional solution is the design of complex CMOS schematics (filter itself, frequency tuning system, etc). Meanwhile the ARC-filter, based upon a ladder RC-circuit and having the minimal number of active elements, is rather convenient. This design provides the lower power consumption as well as simple network and technology. The principles of the design procedure of such type filters are considered. The procedure is illustrated with the designing of the LPF for 5 MHz-band; the supply voltage is 2.5 V, the power consumption is 1.35 mW. In this work we show the possibility to solve the design problem in a simple schematic basis.","PeriodicalId":249205,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116566042","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the requirements, two equalizers algorithms are chosen as an effective solution for channel effects compensation in the GSM and IS-95 radio systems. The algorithms are then implemented using hardware resources and considering the common structures, a power efficient dynamic reconfigurable architecture is presented. The proposed reconfigurable processor is capable of implementing different filter structures. The equalizer structures for the GSM and IS-95 systems are divided to several cycles and are implemented in the proposed dynamic reconfigurable architecture. It is shown that the architecture can be configured to perform successful equalization of the GSM and IS-95 systems. For this purpose a MATLAB script is used to model the transmitter and the channel. The processor is designed in the 0.18 mum technology and simulation show the average power consumption for GSM and IS-95 system equalizations is 50 mW and 140 mW, respectively.","PeriodicalId":249205,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122176539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The realized circuits are composed only from CMOS transconductance elements and grounded capacitors. Direct block diagrams are employed to generate two universal biquad filter structures that are very suitable in building higher-order filters. The proposed circuits can simultaneously realize lowpass, bandpass and highpass filter behaviors or implement a general biquadratic transfer function, all at high impedance outputs. The circuits enjoy independent voltage control of parameters omegao and Q. SPICE simulations demonstrate the validity of the approach and the good high-frequency performances of circuits.","PeriodicalId":249205,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123829577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The quality of service (QoS) of individual mobile users and the efficient system resource utilisation are two of the most important requirements for the cost-effective management of radio resources. It is essential to assess the performance of mobile system architectures in order to identify where potential bottlenecks and data packet blocking probability are possible to occur. The requirements for QoS for overflow probability lead to evaluate probabilities less than 10-9, which is unreasonable to be simulated with standard approaches. An algorithm with RESTART (repetitive simulation trials after reaching thresholds) approach and limited relative error was developed to speed-up the rare event simulation for new queueing theoretic models such as GE/GE/1/N/PS delay system with one server with finite capacity N and discriminatory processor share (PS) transfer rule.","PeriodicalId":249205,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130530638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The constrained optimization problem is converted into an unconstrained optimization problem by using linear-algebraic techniques. An efficient quasi-Newton algorithm with closed-form formula for gradient evaluation is then applied to solve the unconstrained optimization problem. Finally, the optimal system structure is constructed by employing the resulting coordinate transformation matrix that minimizes the frequency-weighted l2-sensitivity measure subject to the scaling constraints. A numerical example is also presented to illustrate the utility of the proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":249205,"journal":{"name":"2008 4th European Conference on Circuits and Systems for Communications","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130587584","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
