In this work, we present a novel method for action recognition which is based on two claimed contributions: semantic feature description and cross classification. The designed descriptor is combined by several local 3D-SIFT and is informative and distinctive, reflecting the spatio-temporal clues of the video. The cross classification effectively combines the feature localization and action categorization together. Compared with the conventional, a sampling position adjusting scheme for complex signals using the piecewise-parabolic filter assisted by a steady decision criterion for limited data length achieves a significant reduction in time complexity and an improvement in loop delay estimation stability and precision. An improved Orthogonal Matching Pursuit (OMP) algorithm is utilized to estimate the parameter of the simplified attributed scattering center model. To realize super-resolution, spectrum extrapolation is preformed in signal reconstruction based on the estimated model parameter. The method can accurately describe the physical structure compared with the traditional super-resolution algorithm based on the point scattering model. In addition, the method has fast computation efficiency and can achieve a better focusing performance with the utilization of the orientation angle. The main idea of the method is passive tracking in multiple platforms is used preferentially, while radar tracks target timely according to the tracking accuracy. In this paper, a tracking accuracy metric called interactive multiple model predicted covariance (IMMPC) is derived by IMM-EKF algorithm. By comparing with the pre-defined threshold, whether or not the radar transmitter radiates energy is determined. Considering their low accuracy and stability in low SNR environment, a new method is proposed based on the double average magnitude difference function (DAMDF). Utilizing the current methods' same period characteristic with the original data and the average argument's decay characteristic with the increase of step, the result of DAMDF has just only one peak, so that it can overcome the unfavourable influence of the frequency demultiplication as well as restrain the interference brought about by frequency multiplication and noise. With the definition of the inter-sensor data ratio (ISDR) in the time-frequency (TF) domain and the use of the high local signal-to-noise ratio (HLSNR) TF points, an effective ISDR data model is derived, which determines the relationship between the ISDR and the AVS manifold vector. With the spatial sparse representation of the ISDR data, the DOA estimation is formulated by recovering the sparse matrix and locating the peak of the power spectrum of the reconstructed sparse matrix. Preliminary experimental results using simulations and real AVS recordings show that the proposed DOA estimation method is able to achieve high elevation and azimuth estimation accuracy for all angles when the SNR is above 10dB, avoiding the spatial aliasing problem and suppressing the adverse impact of the room reverberation. Based on the non-collocated vector sensor array, an ESPRIT-based method is newly proposed to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) and polarization parameter. Due to the special structure of non-collocated array, the DOA and polarization parameter are paired automatically, and thus the computational complexity is greatly reduced. The Cramer-Rao Lower Bound (CRLB) has been derived and the performance of DOA and polarization estimation for the distributed array is also analyzed. In this paper, a new feature extracting algorithm based on automated peak region segmentation (PRS) and regularized orthogonal matching pursuit (ROMP) techniques is presented and called PRS-ROMP. It combines the processes in both signal domain and image domain. First, the proposed method uses PRS and parametric model (PM) to obtain the positions and atoms of strong scattering centers of target. Then we acquire the positions and atoms of weak scattering centers by the sparse reconstruction algorithm and PM for residual region. By using all atoms of strong and weak scattering centers we get the final amplitude estimation by LS. It is an exploratory work since this particular problem has not been addressed before. We considered two types of sensor arrays - uniform and random; and two recovery approaches - Kronecker CS (KCS) and group-sparse reconstruction. Two sets of experiments were carried out. From the first set of experiments we find that both KCS and group-sparse recovery yields good results for random sampling, but for uniform sampling only KCS yields good results. In the second set of experiments we compared our proposed techniques with state-of-the-art methods. Relying on optimization tools, the structure of the optimal strategy is revealed. Based on such a special structure, an efficient algorithm is then developed to find the optimal policy with a low computational complexity.
