Climate change and the intensity of extreme climate events (like heat waves, flooding, storming, freezing etc.) is of great environmental concern facing mankind in this century. As urbanization has become an important contributor for global warming, Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect will be sure to influence the regional climate, environment, and socio-economic development. Urban heat island (UHI) is one of the important outcomes of land cover surface changes processes induced by urbanization, which represents the difference in albedo, roughness, and heat flux exchange of land surface. Satellite remote sensing imagery is a key tool for urban surface energy budgets and urban heat islands investigation as well as for urban climatology research. In this study Landsat TM/ETM, MODIS, ASTER and IKONOS satellite images over 1990 to 2011 period have been selected to retrieve the urban biogeophysical parameters and brightness temperatures in relation with changes of land use/cover types over Bucharest metropolitan area, Romania. Our analysis showed that higher temperature in the UHI was located with a scattered pattern, which was related to certain land-cover types. The MLTS is able to track the movement of a retro-reflector that can be mounted on an arbitrary target. After introducing the MLTS and its functionality, the algorithm based on trilateration is depicted. The key issues applying the trilateration are varying parameters, which are dependent on the initial position of the target. In order to solve this problem a fast and robust calibration algorithm is proposed. The applied optimization algorithm, a Gauss-Newton approach, is explained, implemented and tested on a real time control system. After describing the calibration process the MLTS is explored by reference to measurements. The study attempts to answer a more general question on whether the environment plays an important role and affects the behavior of online shoppers. The environment here has a wider coverage and includes both technological and social aspects. This paper deals only with the research conducted in the UK and attempts to understand the behaviour and perception of Business to Customer E-Commerce among Saudis living in the UK. This study attempts to evaluate the impact of the environmental change on the online shopping behaviour. Quantitative data was collected from 169 Saudi participants who live in the UK. The key factors tested were: Internet usage, satisfaction on using the Internet, security and payment, integrity, and affiliation and reputation of online merchants. The findings show that there is a high number of Saudi citizens living in the UK that are engaged with E-Commerce and are consistently buying online. A fast and accurate selectivity estimation mechanism is of practical importance because selectivity estimation plays a fundamental role in XML query performance. Recently proposed techniques are all based on some forms of structure synopses that could be time consuming to build and not effective for summarizing complex structure relationships. Precisely, current techniques do not handle or process efficiently the large text nodes exist in some data sets as Wikipedia. To overcome this limitation, we extend our previous work [12] that is a stream-based selectivity estimation technique to process efficiently the English data set of Wikipedia. The content of XML text nodes in Wikipedia contains a massive amount of real-life information that our techniques bring closer to practical and efficient everyday use. It makes sense to pursue research on developing algorithms that can most effectively use available network. It is also important to consider the security aspect of the data being transmitted is vulnerable to attacks. The basic aim of this work is to develop a module for combining the operation of compression and encryption on the same set of data to perform these two operations simultaneously. This is achieved through embedding encryption into compression algorithms since both cryptographic ciphers and entropy coders bear certain resemblance in the sense of secrecy. First in the secure compression module, the given text is preprocessed and transform of into some intermediate form which can be compressed with better efficiency and security. The Metaheuristics algorithms are Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA). The proposed randomization method depends mainly on randomization in both the initialization phase and moving phase that is used to find all the solutions. The obtained results were promising as the GA and SA algorithms were efficient in finding the solutions and both are better than the randomization method. This research study evaluates the support provided for three commonly used design patterns in five web and eight mobile frameworks. The study was conducted from a programming language agnostic perspective to accurately reflect the variety in development techniques used in practice and so as not to unduly influence the results. Our findings suggest that mobile frameworks struggle to support the common design patterns very well, lagging some way behind existing web frameworks. Distributed Hash Table (DHT) based structured P2P overlay networks offer scalability, fault tolerance and a self-managing infrastructure which does not exhibit single points of failure. Deploying DHT based overlays on mobile networks is a natural next step to make DHT based systems more widely available. However, supporting P2P on mobile networks poses a number of challenges, such as restrictions in terms of data transmissions on cellular networks, limited battery power of the handsets, high levels of churn due to variations in signal strength and placing or receiving voice calls which suspend the data link. While comparative studies of overlay algorithms for wired networks have been reported, there are a very few studies on the suitability of different existing DHT based overlays for mobile networks. This paper evaluates the performance and efficiency of five popular DHT based structured P2P overlays: Chord, Pastry, Kademlia, Broose and EpiChord, taking into account the conditions as seen in mobile networks. HDFE filters and interference canceller (IC) are used in conjunction with channel coding to cancel the channel impairments from a received data and generate feedback symbols whose reliability increases iteratively. Moreover, the feedforward (FF) filter is implemented by Fast Fourier transforms (FFTs), which yields much lower computational complexity than equivalent structures, yet achieve the performance of such systems in time domain.
