However, the alignment process is prone to high variability in tissue appearance between modalities, in addition to local intensity variations and artefacts. This work introduces a robust multi-modal registration approach that mitigates the undesirable effect of such variability. Robustness is achieved using Huber’s loss function for the data fidelity and regularization terms. We propose a novel approach using Huber’s criterion, which enables a jointly convex estimation of the motions and the associated scale parameters. We formulate the problem as a complex 2D transformation estimation and investigate a robust total-variation smoothing, as well as a dictionary learning-based data fidelity term. Experiments are conducted using two datasets of multi-contrast MR brain images.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133533060","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, for multi-component non-linear frequency modulated (FM) signals with distinct amplitudes, such artifacts pose a great challenge to accurately reconstruct weaker signal components. In this paper, we develop improved TF representations that enable accurate instantaneous frequency estimation of such signals, achieve high energy concentration, and provide effective cross-term and artifact mitigation. The proposed technique utilizes a combination of iterative data interpolation in the time-lag domain to recover missing entries and a signal-adaptive TF kernel to suppress cross-terms and artifacts. Simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130314896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis considers key components including channel selection filters, digital beamforming and FFT engines for the OFDM processing. A methodology is presented for optimizing bit widths in various components, which is critical in low power designs. Fully digital and analog beamforming architectures are also compared. This paper considers the problem of downlink channel feedback in practical wideband massive MIMO systems operating in the FDD mode. The starting point is to leverage the spatial structure of the BS antenna array to reshape the channel matrix in tensor form, and then bring in orthonormal Tucker (also known as multilinear / higher-order SVD) factorization to approximate the channel tensor on the UE side, and feed the obtained factors back to the BS. The resulting decomposition results in a significant reduction in the number of parameters that needs to be fed back from each UE to its serving BS, without sacrificing channel estimation accuracy. Furthermore, this paper exploits a recently-developed sampling/compression mechanism that efficiently handles the considered problem. Using this approach, each UE is only required to feed back a small number of samples/measurements from the channel tensor, thus shifting the computational burden of tensor decomposition/compression to the BS which naturally possesses higher computational capabilities compared to the UE. Experimental results using channels constructed from a practical ray-tracing simulator demonstrate the superiority of the proposed tensor-based approaches relative to the state-of-the-art.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132073148","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dominant mode rejection (DMR) ABF splits the covariance spectrum into dominant and noise subspaces, improving performance in snapshot-limited scenarios. White noise gain (WNG) is a key performance metric that characterizes a beamformer’s robustness to array perturbations and other errors. The DMR ABF’s WNG is highest when the rank of the dominant subspace matches the number of interferers in the environment and decreases when the rank is overestimated. This paper introduces a model of DMR WNG, based on random matrix theory, that matches the Monte Carlo sample mean when the DMR rank is greater than or equal to the number of interferers.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"921 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133040001","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a detailed analysis of the interference suppression capability and computational complexity of several different ICA algorithms, operating at either real-valued or complex-valued domain. In addition, on the basis of the setup of the full-duplex system, we show that a much simplified complex-valued ICA algorithm that only performs whitening and decorrelation processes are sufficient to separate the signal of interest from the mixed signal. Extensive simulation results are presented in this paper to illustrate the performance and complexity of various ICA approaches applying to the full-duplex system.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132746563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many popular approaches define interpretability as the inverse of complexity and achieve interpretability at the cost of accuracy. This introduces a risk of producing interpretable but misleading explanations. As humans, we are prone to engage in this kind of behavior [11]. In this paper, we take the view that the complexity of the explanations should correlate with complexity of the decision. We propose to build a Treeview representation of the complex model using disentangled representations, which reveals the iterative rejection of unlikely class labels until the correct association is predicted.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122265661","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, concurrent transmission generates a strong self-interference signal at the receiver, which requires the use of cancellation techniques. A wide range of techniques for analog and digital self-interference cancellation have already been presented in the literature. However, their evaluation focuses on cases where the underlying physical parameters of the full-duplex system do not vary significantly. In this paper, we focus on adaptive digital cancellation, motivated by the fact that physical systems change over time. We examine some of the different cancellation methods in terms of their performance and implementation complexity, considering the cost of both cancellation and training. We then present a comparative analysis of all these methods to determine which perform better under different system performance requirements. We demonstrate that with a neural network approach, the reduction in arithmetic complexity for the same cancellation performance relative to a state-of-the-art polynomial model is several orders of magnitude.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122078712","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In recent years, the nearest neighbor methods and probabilistic data association filters were proposed. However, the performance of these methods diminishes as number of measurements increases. In this paper, we propose a robust generative approach to effectively model multiple sensor measurements for tracking a moving target in an environment with high clutter. We assume a time-dependent number of measurements that include sensor observations with unknown origin, some of which may only contain clutter with no additional information. We robustly and accurately estimate the trajectory of the moving target in high clutter environment with unknown number of clutters by employing Bayesian nonparametric modeling. In particular, we employ a class of joint Bayesian nonparametric models to construct the joint prior distribution of target and clutter measurements such that the conditional distributions follow a Dirichlet process. The marginalized Dirichlet process prior of the target measurements is then used in a Bayesian tracker to estimate the dynamically-varying target state. We show through experiments that the tracking performance and effectiveness of our proposed framework are increased by suppressing high clutter measurements. In addition, we show that our proposed method outperforms existing methods such as nearest neighbor and probability data association filters.","PeriodicalId":248190,"journal":{"name":"2020 54th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115044944","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
