The state of the art applications typically runs once per day and reports the detected appliances. In this work, data driven models are implemented for two different sampling rates (10 seconds and 15 minutes). The models are trained for 20 houses in the Netherlands and tested for a period of 4-weeks. The results indicate that the disaggregation methods is applicable for both sampling cases but with different use-case.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131760269","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To consider the dynamic model of SEA as a mass damper spring system can be erroneous when SEA does not contact high impedance environment and makes free motions. In this paper, a novel dynamic model of Reaction Force Series Elastic Actuator is proposed, which is unlumped two mass system model. The dynamic model is derived using the Lagrangian mechanics so as to successfully include all degrees of freedom of the SEA. The proposed model is verified through system identification experiments. The results indicate the actual dynamic model of SEA is valid throughout various load conditions.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134578845","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The corresponding somatic sensory area in a brain is very large, and considered to be a specialized part for palpation. A lot of haptic display system then have been developed with the investigation of human haptic perception. However, the researches about the human perception for pulling force at grasping, namely static frictional force are limited. This paper investigated it, aiming at a future development of pulling and grasping force feedback system for neurosurgical robotic systems. For the purpose, this paper explored the possibility of displaying pulling force to an index finger during grasping. The absolute and difference thresholds for pulling sense were the targets. The results showed that grasping disturbs the pulling sense, and the sides of index fingertip can be used to display pulling sense, relatively large force, namely scaled force feedback is required for the perception. The results provide an important insight at a hardware and controller design of force feedback systems.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127175855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This editor provides a web interface to design building automation rules. Rules are designed with a drag and drop programming. Then rules are validated, generated and activated in the buildings. CSE allows to define template rules. The rules are then instantiated in building rooms with the available sensors and actuators. CSE also offers a monitoring interface to know which scenario is impacted by one or several faulty sensors/actuators. The CSE relies on the LILAC middleware to provide coordination across several building automation systems and sensors/actuators technologies.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134105212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the process of FDD, there are three steps: fault detection, fault isolation and fault estimation. The first two items are the commonly addressed while the last one is less tackled as it requires the development of a fault model which parameters are relevant of the fault. In this paper, we propose an analytical model of multiple fault effects on a three phases electrical system. The model is based on the expressions of the currents in the (d,q) or Park synchronous rotating reference frame. We prove through simulation results the efficiency of the model for fault combination of gain, offset and phase shift. The results show also the accuracy of the model that could be used for fault estimation purpose.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129302806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The developed permanent magnet synchronous machine drives an electric, oil flooded pump. Different slot/pole combination and winding configuration have been investigated in order to identify the optimal combination that satisfies the electromagnetic and thermal constraint while keeping the losses as small as possible. Several strategies such as the use of the Cobalt iron material for the stator core lamination and the adoption of Halbach array have been investigated in this work to improve the performance capabilities of the designed machine. The electromagnetic performances have been evaluated by using a finite element method. Thermal behaviour has been determined using a lumped parameter network. The outcome of the thermal analysis helped to identify the optimal cooling configurations. The final results are presented highlighting the achieved design targets.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115040819","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This selection is based on the convenience of PEV owners, aiming to choose those MSs that privilege early high (or fast) charging rates when it is possible. The previously published MSD and Maximum Entropy principle (MSD-MEP) approach is revised and illustrated with several examples, specially in the context of selection of MSs. This revision allows a wider understanding of the method, and aims to inspire new contributions on domains where distributed optimization methods are pertinent. Results obtained without any management structure are compared to those obtained with the MSD-MEP approach under different scenarios, where full sets of MSs and reduced sets of convenient MSs are applied. The performance of the method, using conveniently reduced sets of MSs, is tested with real historical active power measurements, provided by the SOREA utility grid company in the region of Savoie, France.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115436853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show that from an analytical model, the fault characteristics can be retrieved. From experimental raw data collected from a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine drive, the gain or offset fault characteristics (amplitude and frequency) have been estimated with an average error of 10%. For incipient fault, despite the analytical model, the estimation might be tedious because the fault is concealed by the noise. In this case the Kullback-Leibler Divergence between two Probability Density Functions can be computed and the fault estimated from the value of the divergence. If the distributions are Gaussian, the closed form of the divergence allows the fault estimation. However even if the data are not perfectly Gaussian-distributed, the closed form can still be used despite an overestimation of the fault characteristics that is preferable as it is a safety margin.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123791284","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this reason, filter's size optimization is a strategic step towards the improvement of the power converter's power density. An EMI filter design that follows a conventional procedure does not guarantee the selection of components/configuration leading to the best power density. Therefore, in order to help EMI engineers and scientists in pursuing a fast and effective choice of optimal discrete EMI filter components and configuration, a novel tool is proposed in this paper, namely ODEF (Optimized Design of EMI Filters). ODEF is an interactive software application running in Matlab® environment. It suitably improves a previously validated EMI filter design procedure that extends the conventional filter design method in order to achieve optimal power density. Features and operation of ODEF tool are illustrated. Moreover, the experimental assessment of an input EMI filter, designed according to the optimized procedure for an inverter-fed induction motor drive, is performed.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-10-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115739024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
