The position measurement of the actuator's link is subtracted from the desired deflection of the spring so that the force control goal is defined as the desired position of the motor; i.e., the force control is simply performed by designing a position controller at motor side. However, the position accuracy of the motor is influenced by the dynamics of the actuator and environment. Since they cannot be easily identified in practice, the dynamics of the actuator's link and environment are considered as unknown disturbances in the design of the proposed controller. In order to improve the robustness, conventional SMC-based robust force controller is designed without considering the unknown disturbances. Although the robust force control can be theoretically performed by using the conventional SMC-based controller, it suffers from chattering in real implementations. Conventional DOb-based robust motion controller is designed at motor side so that not only the disturbances are cancelled by feeding-back their estimations but also the control signal of SMC-based robust force controller is lowered. Hence, a simple yet efficient robust force controller is designed for SEAs. The validity of the proposed robust force controller is verified by giving experimental results.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":" 26","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120834313","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the method, we measured the distance between a sensor and a person with the sensor placed at human waist height as a time series data and estimated the position coordinates of the person at a time as a probability distribution. This paper extends the scheme and proposes a method estimating person attributes in addition to the location data by monitoring the movement of legs while the person is walking. As for person attributes, we focus on the age and classify persons as the elderly and the young. At that time, we construct a prediction model of age groups based on machine learning mechanisms. In this paper, we use seven feature values, these are the step length, the step width, the velocity of leg 1, the velocity of leg 2, the velocity of body, the acceleration of leg 1 and the acceleration of leg 2 for the model. By conducting experiments, we verify that classification accuracy improves particularly using acceleration and standard deviation of the data.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122871892","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Theoretically, coexistence is achieved even in multi-hop network if precise time synchronization among the all nodes on its communication path. However, since it is technically difficult, the construction of wide-area S-TDMA network was not yet achieved. This paper implemented S-TDMA switch on NetFPGA-1G-CML board with 1 Gbps Ethernet PHY, newly adding a few nanoseconds-level time synchronization and change-mode mechanism to the previously presented implementation. Remarkably, this implementation enabled to examine the degree of throughput deterioration of non-RT with change-mode in one S-TDMA switch. Previous works regarding S-TDMA switch have never researched this issue. From the result of 1 ms period, TCP throughput was 14:65 Mbps when non-RT time-slot occupies 90% of each period. It was the worst value and only 4% of the result when non-RT time-slot occupies 100%. Such value is considered not practical if S-TDMA network is constructed in the real Internet infrastructure. Thus, further approaches to enhance TCP performance are discussed.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121791843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In an ubiquitous energy society, receiving energy with multiple frequencies is required because energy is transferred with multiple frequencies. A dual-mode wireless power transfer system is a system that realizes efficient power transfer with two different frequencies. Normally, these systems are used to transfer different kinds of information but few research consider transferring power with different frequencies at the same time. Therefore, this research clarifies theoretically and experimentally power can be transferred with two different frequencies for dual-mode wireless power transfer system using magnetic resonance. Voltage and power that occurs in receiver circuit when wireless power transfer is done by another two frequencies at the same time is discussed theoretically. Experiment is conducted to verify the theoretical calculation results. Experimental results show the good match with theoretical calculation.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114798768","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the present, there are many robot systems dealing with the human motion but they are heavy and hard to use simply at home. Moreover they especially have a particular purpose focused on the single human motion then the usability of these systems is low and fragmentary about a variety of motions. To classify the various motions, we propose the approach to categorization analysis for human motion by using information of the Kinect and IMUs. It is focused on the human motion which is classified into the walking, standing up and down, and falling down motion. The two COG points of the body from the sensing results are defined as the new indexes such as distance and incline, which are the indicator to classify the human motion. To verify the verification, the theoretical human model is designed and the experiment for the various human motions is carried out by using Kinect and IMU.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124881998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These, however, do not fulfill embedded systems' requirements, or require legacy software to be modified. Full virtualization on low-end hardware (i.e., hardware without virtualization extensions), on the other end, has none of those disadvantages. However, it is often claimed that it is not feasible due to an unacceptably high virtualization overhead. We were, nevertheless, unable to find real-world quantitative results supporting those claims.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129689133","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To fulfill these control objectives, multi-objective based cost function is employed. Furthermore, qZSI has been combined with the 5-Level H-bridge NPC inverter so as to obtain power converter topology with buck/boost and dc/ac conversion functionality in a single stage for high power PV applications. The placement of objects is frequently changed according to human activities. Although a passive RFID tag is attached to each object for the object's recognition, the placement is often not uniquely determined due to the deficiency of measured data. We have already proposed a method for estimating the placement of objects by using the moving trajectories of objects. This estimation result is expressed as the probability distribution of the object placement. However intersections of trajectories cause the decrease of the estimation accuracy. So we propose a new method based on Bayesian inference to improve the estimation accuracy by using the size and the shape of an object measured by laser range finder. Then a mobile robot settles the placement with small workload by using the mounted sensor. The system successfully recognized and localized 10 objects in the experiment.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131257373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, the Flying Capacitor (FC) converter is an attractive choice as it can generate high quality output waveforms and reach high power levels. Several works have been presented in the literature for voltage capacitor balancing, relying on self-balancing property. Nevertheless, the conditions for self-balancing operation cannot be guaranteed in several practical applications. In this paper, a simple closed-loop scheme, based on Model Predictive Control (MPC), is used to properly modulate the converter output voltage in order to keep the capacitor voltages at the desired values. As the proposed modulation strategy regulates the capacitor voltages, wide bandwidth linear controllers can be used for the current tracking, improving the dynamic and steady-state behavior of the overall system.","PeriodicalId":247794,"journal":{"name":"IECON 2016 - 42nd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131818156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
