Over time, as the ombudsman's field of duty expanded, different types of ombudsman operating in different fields emerged. One of them is the press ombudsman. The main task of the press ombudsman is to evaluate the complaints from the readers in accordance with professional ethical principles and to write these evaluations in the newspaper column reserved for them. The ombudsman institution in the field of journalism in Turkey started to be implemented in order to contribute to professional ethics at a time when the trust in newspapers decreased. The aim of the press ombudsman, which started to be institutionalized in Turkey in the early 2000s under the name of reader representative, is to implement a self-control mechanism independent of state control and capital ownership. This research, which focuses on the Turkish experience of ombudsman practice, which tries to exist as an autonomous sub-field in the field of journalism, will be based on the field theory of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. Cultural production areas are very important in Bourdieu's works. The symbolic power of cultural production areas comes from their independence. For this reason, after a discussion on the independence of the field of journalism in Turkey, the emergence, functioning and applicability of the press ombudsman will be discussed in the context of the transformations in the history of journalism. The sample comprises articles in Milli Gazete [The National Daily] published in May 2020. The selected news articles have been subjected to discourse analysis to unveil which discursive strategies and utterances are being used to construct antagonism by Milli Gazete. Employing Teun A. van Dijk’s approach, this study found that Milli Gazete constructed antagonism based on the threat of “extinction” under three discursive themes. This study also found that all the relevant columnists targeted the Convention with unrealistic claims. In this context, the selection of news between the years 1939 and 1949 is analyzed. The reason for selecting this period is that it encompasses the process -including the Second World War- in which genocide crime was internationalized and accepted with a contract by the United Nations (UN). The news was selected to illustrate the role of NYT in the formation of public opinion regarding the internalization of the genocide ban norm. The data from this period is subjected to framing analysis. The reason for using the framing method is that it enables the classification of the content of the news over the media frames and the reading of the news over the tested frames. The data is categorized under four frameworks: human rights, law and order, war, and common security. According to the findings, the media is an efficient tool in the development of a norm. When not satisfied or is lost, it causes highly problematic behaviors and relationships, leading sufferers to try to satisfy their need to belong. This article studies how belongingness finds reflections in the isolated and traumatized soldier characters of the two significant plays, namely Penetrator (1993) by Anthony Neilson and Blasted (1995) by Sarah Kane, of the 1990s British drama, known as the In-Yer-Face theatre. In order to achieve this, this article analyzes the soldier characters – Tadge from Penetrator and Soldier from Blasted – found in these plays by means of the theories and related studies on the concept of belonging such as those put forth by Roy Baumeister, Mark Leary, Abraham Maslow, Sigmund Freud, and Jacques Lacan. Gecen zamana bagli olarak pek cok alanda buyuk toplumsal donusumler yasanmasina ragmen sinemasal anlati formlarinda toplumsal cinsiyet temsillerinin degismemis olmasi, filmlerin secilmesinde etkili olmustur.
