Materials and Methods: Two hundred and forty-seven nursing students at a university located in Istanbul province made up the sample of this descriptive research. The data collection tools were the Participant Information Form and the Diagnosis Scale of the Risks and Symptoms of Child Abuse and Neglect.Results: It was determined that 79.4% of the participants were female, 37.2% were first-year students, and 78.5% were from nuclear families. The average age was 19.80±1.19. It was found that 75.3% of the students had received education/information about child neglect and abuse during their undergraduate education, with 63.4% obtaining this information from the Internet, 48.4% from their faculty, and 43% from television. Female students had a significantly higher total score on the scale than males (t:2.456; p=0.015). Conclusion: The Internet was nursing students’ primary source of information on child abuse and neglect, and female students’ knowledge levels were higher than those of males.","PeriodicalId":247163,"journal":{"name":"Balıkesır Health Sciences Journal","volume":" 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141670086","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Materials and Methods: In the study, cerebellar tissues of 20 dogs brought for necropsy and diagnosed with distemper by histopathological and immunohistochemical methods were used. Cerebellum tissues from 7 dogs that died of other diseases in which the central nervous system was not affected were used as controls. All tissues were fixed in 10% buffered formalin solution for 48 h then washed thoroughly in tap water overnight. After dehydration in graded alcohols, cleared in xylene and embedded in paraffin. Paraffin blocks of cerebellum were cut at 5 μm and stained with hematoxylin and eosin (HE) and Immunohistochemistry (IHC) was performed according to the manufacturer's protocol. Results: Expression of eNOS and cells undergoing apoptosis in infected tissues were increased compared to control tissues. This difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: As a result, increased eNOS expression may be one of the factors that trigger apoptosis in neuropathology of canine distemper disease. However, further studies are needed for other effects that contribute to the neuropathology of the disease","PeriodicalId":247163,"journal":{"name":"Balıkesır Health Sciences Journal","volume":"106 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-04-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140694212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study participants were allocated to two groups, each with 36 students, using a random assignment procedure. Group A was the bingo game group, and group B was the board game group. All topics related to the pharmacology course were taught to both groups by the same instructor one day a week during the semester. After the game, all groups filled out the \"Information Form\" and \" Instructional Materials Motivation Scale\". Results: The mean Instructional Materials Motivation Scale total score was 132.91 ± 20.06 for the bingo group. The mean Instructional Materials Motivation Scale score was 124.80 ± 20.54 for the table game group.
