Sensor nodes are operated by batteries. As the replacement of these batteries are not practical, this network is very much energy sensitive. Resource coordination is an important issue to make this system energy efficient. Sensor nodes can be applied in various applications. Object tracking, routing, event detection are some common applications in WSN. These application needs to perform some tasks like sensing, transmitting, sleeping, receiving etc. At each time step, the sensor nodes need to perform one task based on its application demand. Scheduling of these tasks is very important aspect for WSN in order to coordinate the resources. In this paper, an effective market based method is proposed for resource coordination in WSN. At first the description of the problem is presented then the combinatorial auction based method is proposed. The simulation results show the efficiency of the proposed method comparing with other existing methods.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127365674","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current SQL syntax to perform actuation tasks misleads the user because of their artificial way of expressing the actuation tasks thus violating the purpose of the declarative nature. Particularly with respect to distributed in-network actuation tasks where multiple sensor nodes and actuator nodes are involved, the user may be required to write multiple queries based on the current actuation query syntax causing a negative impact on the performance. We address these issues in existing declarative layer with modifications to the virtual data table of the abstraction and thus a new syntax is suggested and implemented.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128841138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, subtle non-verbal methods of communication provide a rich source of information which may provide valuable affective context to the human-computer interaction. Of particular note are physiological indicators of affective state, as these are objective in nature and have been demonstrated to be successful in many studies. Physiological computing may be viewed as a data acquisition and signal processing task whereby the electrical impulses or biopotentials created by the body are captured, analyzed and recorded in a suitable format for later communication. Whilst there are a number of commercially available hardware platforms to support physiological data acquisition, these all possess limitations in a few distinct areas. Not least of these is the physical form factor. For such devices to be embedded and integrated into the next generation of computer interfaces, an open physiological platform is required. This will enable future development to build upon this foundation and concentrate on novel and unique form factors and implementation environments. This paper describes the development and implementation of an open affective platform. This hardware and software solution provides the necessary functionality to measure and describe the users underlying affective state in terms of its component dimensions. This data may then be communicated to other application software, or modules within a larger affective computing application.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"2000 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126029430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an adaptive routing algorithm based upon the Q-routing, which distributes traffic by a learning method in the entire network. The learning method utilizes local and global traffic information and can select the minimum latency path to the destination. Since the routing table sizes become one of the main sources of area consumption in the Q-routing algorithm, we propose a clustering approach in order to reduce the area overhead. Furthermore, this approach improves the observability of the traffic condition. Experimental results for different traffic patterns and network loads show that the proposed method achieves significant performance improvement over the Q-routing, C-routing, DBAR and Dynamic XY algorithms.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134575101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They leverage the inexpensive and modern hardware provided by the mobile phone market to supply water resource scientists with a new solution to sensing water resources. Mobile phone based drifters strategically address in situ sensing applications in order to focus on the large scale use of mobile phones dealing with communications, software, hardware, and system reliability. We have demonstrated that a simple design of a drifter built around an Android phone robustly survives many hours of experimental usage. In addition to the positioning capabilities of the phone via GPS, we also use the accelerometer of the phone to filter out samples when the drifter is in storage. The success of these drifters as passive mobile phone sensors has also led us to develop motorized mobile phone drifters.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133007919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The volume and frequency of cyber-related incidents on the rise yearly, and the level of sophistication is increasing. Critical infrastructures are key service providers and heavily interconnected, meaning any damaging impact would result in devastating consequences and potential cascading failure. In this paper, our system, which uses behavioural observation techniques to offer a level of critical infrastructure support, is detailed. Our approach monitors the operation of an infrastructure and identifies any abnormalities which occur by detecting changes in patterns of behaviour. This is done through the development of a model of correct behaviour which then acts as inference model for expected system behaviour. Using this inference model, we then highlight a threat to our simulation environment by observing changes in patterns of activity. Related research and the results of our implementation is discussed.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126363754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Routing algorithms perform an important role in distributing the traffic load over the network by providing alternative routing paths. The major parts of research works avoid congestion by considering the traffic condition in the forward paths and delivering packets through less congested paths. However, they do not consider the impact of the router arbitration in traffic distribution. On the other hand, traditional methods usually consider the traffic at the node level rather than a region level. In this paper, we propose a method named Dual Congestion Awareness (DuCA) which involves the congestion information about forward paths in the routing decision and backward paths in the router arbitration. DuCA can efficiently use the traffic information to transmit packets through less congested areas (using congestion information about forward paths) and steer traffic from highly congested regions to low congested areas (using congestion information in backward paths). Finally, DuCA is a region-based approach, providing a wider view of the network traffic.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122429377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More recently this has applied in particular to automotive infotainment systems, which are available for all classifications of cars nowadays. A change in that process of growth is not foreseeable. Concurrently, formerly distributed functionalities are now integrated into a common hardware platform. The demand for the computational power of future infotainment systems will be countered with multicore hardware platforms. These allow the parallel computation of a rising number of independently developed software components. This constitutes both new opportunities and challenges. One of the latter is to integrate software components with different temporal requirements on a common hardware platform, which compete for shared system resources. In the following an approach is presented, that supports the development and integration process by use of static priorities to manage the access to shared resources from in-parallel executed components. The applicability is demonstrated through the use of a prototypical implementation.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134170797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The initial steps of the proposed control algorithm rely on the notion of a Petri net, which is an easy way to describe parallel processes. The subsequent steps of the algorithm consist in the decomposition of a given Petri net - with the use of a coloring algorithm - into a set of state machine type subnets. We think of each subnet as representing one parallel process. These subnets are then implemented independently in different FPGA devices. To ensure proper communication between all subnets, the entire control system uses a globally asynchronous locally synchronous (GALS) architecture with each subnet synchronized by the local clock signal. Global communication between components is buffer-based and uses additional signals, generated in a given subnet and distributed to the remaining ones.","PeriodicalId":245642,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE 3rd International Conference on Networked Embedded Systems for Every Application (NESEA)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123927639","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
