In this paper, we present an analytical model to calculate the total time it takes for a GPU to retire one frame for a given benchmark. The model also estimates the total retirement time for the same frame for different GPU configuration. The model consists of two stages. The first stage entails establishing the measured baseline for a specific frame on a given graphics card, and the second stage entails adjusting the measured baseline and estimating the time it takes to process all draw calls for the same frame on a different GPU. The model considers the impact of pipeline bottlenecks to process a specific frame, estimates the minimum time it takes to process that frame, and re-parameterize the baseline for a different graphics card to calculate new frame retirement times at two different memory frequencies. We propose an analytical estimation method to estimate frame retirement time for a different GPU at higher memory frequencies based on the new adjusted measured baseline.","PeriodicalId":245530,"journal":{"name":"2012 2nd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"46 4","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120914902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Image processing is using for detecting for objects in mammogram images. Edge detection; which is a method of determining the discontinuities in gray level images; is a very important initial step in Image processing. Many classical edge detectors have been developed over time. Some of the well known edge detection operators based on the first derivative of the image are Roberts, Prewitt, Sobel which is traditionally implemented by convolving the image with masks. Also Gaussian distribution has been used to build masks for the first and second derivative. However, this distribution has limit to only symmetric shape. This paper will use to construct the masks, the log-normal distribution which was more general than Gaussian because it has symmetric and asymmetric shape. The constructed masks are applied to images and we obtained good results.","PeriodicalId":245530,"journal":{"name":"2012 2nd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121297961","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The full study of the performance of this cell requires analysis of the dispersion error. The analysis of this error carried out in this paper for the cylindrical TLM algorithm shows that it is generally weak. However, the increase in the error in certain situations was already known for the SCNTLM, but it is slightly amplified for situations very close to the axis of singularity.","PeriodicalId":245530,"journal":{"name":"2012 2nd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121333580","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After 2003 war in Iraq, there is extremely high demand for Internet service due to very long period of sanctions enforced on Iraq. However, satisfying such high demand is a challenging task; as the cost, number of subscribers and Quality of Service (QoS) are important factors that need to be compromised. SCIS uses Wi-Fi and WiMAX technologies as a wireless broadband solution for last mile access. This paper presents the modeling and analysis of SCIS WiMAX network to improve the overall network performance. End-to-End QoS Model for system-level simulation is modeled using OPNET modeler. The simulated model is evaluated using essential QoS parameters such as end-to-end packet delay, Jitter (Delay variation), and throughput for two types of delay sensitive traffics which are Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and video streaming. The investigation is done for two channel bandwidth. Namely, 5 MHz and 10 MHz. The results show maximum number of active subscribers can be tolerable by each channel bandwidth.","PeriodicalId":245530,"journal":{"name":"2012 2nd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"128 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130008430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The electrical test bench used to implement this fractional order system of the first kind is shown as well as two different arrangements. The first one is based on a fractional order system while the second one is made of an integer order systems. This part will be followed by a second one where the implementation results are shown as well as the systems robustness and the effects of some uncertainties related to the electrical domain. The results show that the fractional order system is robust and isn't affected by the components tolerance, which is not really the case for the integer order system.","PeriodicalId":245530,"journal":{"name":"2012 2nd International Conference on Advances in Computational Tools for Engineering Applications (ACTEA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129972897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
