The purpose of the developed research was to design and materialize a solution to test the operation of the computer hard disk as an electromechanical device. The systemic analysis method was used to highlight the factors capable of influencing the operation of a computer’s hard disk. The components of a hard disk performance testing equipment were identified to evaluate the operation of the hard disk at the variation of some input factors. An enclosure solution was subsequently established and implemented using the idea diagram method to evaluate the functioning of the hard disk when changing the values of some input factors capable of affecting the intensity of the process of losing the functional qualities of the hard disk.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. When the energy storage elements I and C are in integral causality, the number of state equations equals the number of these elements. If there are also energy storage elements in derivative causality, the system contains a number of differential equations equal to the number of energy storage elements in integral causality and a number of algebraic equations equal to the number of energy storage elements in derivative causality. The work presents a new method for finding the system of differential equations for mechanical systems with one degree of freedom, starting from the original system which contains both algebraic and differential equations.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. In practice, injectors are often subject to operating problems, mainly because inside the diesel fuel injector nozzle, accumulation of deposits might occur. To control the phenomenon, the scientific literature proposes anti-corrosion treatment. The present paper studies the effect of applying anti-corrosion treatment to a new diesel injector. The investigation method consists in using a Scanning Electron Microscope next to EDX Spectrometry. The results indicate that chemical treatment can lead to new deposits that also contaminate the nozzles. Concluding, the anticorrosion treatment must include monitoring and control of the process and as a final step, a method to remove detergent deposits.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Both the electrode and the workpiece materials are connected into an electric circuit, charged by a direct current electric energy source. The workpiece is used to get some complex forms of cavities into parts of electrically conductive materials or other hard conductive materials, which could not be processed efficiently by the other means. This paper presents the results of some research related to the development of an equipment concept that could highlight the variation of some output parameters of the process in function of the value of the input factors in the process. It has opted to create a device for studying electrochemical erosion, where different substances, with a direct current source with variable adjustment. Taking into account the experimental results when using different materials for the workpiece, different materials for the tool electrode, many working electrolyte type substances, and changing the values of the electrical parameters, results necessary for a relevant conclusion could be obtained.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. The surface numerical representation can be done in the form of a points cloud. The profiling algorithm proposed in the paper is based on the possibility of measuring surfaces and their representation through an ordered cloud of points. The algorithm uses the complementary theorem of the virtual pole, for profiling the rack tool generating a piece that has an ordered curl of profiles. The methodology is not limited to the profiling of the rack tool but can be extended to the problem of profiling the primary peripheral surface of some screw-type tools, generating the ordered curl of surfaces. The paper also presents a numerical application developed based on a specific software product.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. The transmission errors of the gears from the considered complex gear drive are considered when kinematics is analyzed and presented. The cutting forces from a gear hobbing process, possibly driven by such a complex gear transmission, are considered when parameters of the dynamic model are mathematically evaluated and presented. The proposed model development includes the obtaining of the differential equation for kinetic energy. Some discussions are also made regarding the studied complex mechanism. Practically, mathematical models for the influence of transmission errors and hobbing forces upon the considered complex gear drive are proposed as deliverable results of the study. Final conclusions are also included in the paper. The aspects discussed in the paper are presenting utility for the design of such mechanisms or for calculating the parameters of some gear hobbing processes.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Applied to face milling, the proposed procedure makes it possible to identify the coefficients in the case of turning, using experiments under certain conditions of similarity, which are then used to calculate the principal cutting force in the case of milling. The proposed procedure uses a stationary dynamometer both to measure the cutting force in the case of turning and to calculate the tangential force in the case of face milling. The experiments carried out have tried to simulate a real processing case for industry, the worpiece material being used as supplied by the supplier.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Even many users mostly use it, not all of them are adopting the advanced parameterisation of the processes, preferring default set-up with a small interference over the basic parameters such as layer height, number of perimeters, and infill. Regarding the nozzle diameter, several advantages and disadvantages are implied by the relation of printing time-surface finish. Usage of large-diameter nozzles present advantages such as reduced manufacturing time, low risk of clogged nozzle, and more. Those cause worse resolution for small features and support structures to be more challenging to remove. By adjusting the nozzle parameters such as extrusion width and extrusion temperature, it was possible to obtain similar effects with a regular nozzle. This research’s main goal was to investigate if there is imperative the usage of larger-diameter nozzles for speeding up the manufacturing process, or the same effect can be achieved by using nozzles with a smaller diameter. In the end, we managed to reduce the manufacturing time to half compared to the initial time.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași.
