The reduction of the velocity at the end of the stroke is important in order to preserve the structural integrity and to avoid undesirable motion of the load. The mathematical model of such a hydraulic cylinder is shown, as well as the Matlab functional diagram for the system. It is also revealed the role of the working fluid, considering the actual recommendations regarding the biodegradable substances. It was considered both mineral base liquids and vegetable base liquids. The functional diagram offers the possibility to view for the hydraulic system the variation of the speed, flow rate, rate and stroke of the piston, in both cases: with and without end position cushioning. Is also shown a CFD analysis of fluid flow through the supply/outlet connections of the hydraulic cylinder.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. The basis for designing a rotor for a wind turbine, which is the main element of a turbine that extracts energy from the wind, is the propeller theory. This theory incorporates mathematical models that describe the movement of fluid around the propeller. The paper presents three generically named models, model A, model B and model C respectively, used in the analysis and design of the horizontal axis wind turbine’s rotor.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. WIM or weigh-in-motion systems can monitor the traffic, determine the volume and type of traffic and detect the overload vehicles which are illegal. This paper discusses about applying the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis method for developing a new concept of WIM sensor, designed in PhD thesis from “Gheorghe Asachi” Technical University of Iaşi. FMEA method or also called potential failure modes and effects analysis is a step-by-step approach for determine and identifying all possible failures in a new design, or manufacture process. This new concept of sensor can be used for urban traffic in order to reduce the cars pollution in the cities by providing real-time data traffic, monitoring vehicles and detecting the overloaded trucks. The FMEA method was applied for identification of functional failure risks and preventing failures from an early stage of concept.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași. Also, these studies can help to fluidize the traffic considering the actual number of cars and of the future cars which is estimated to increase due to considering traffic signals, roundabout or other traffic solutions. Traffic impact studies are important because the governmental agencies require them when a new building is developed as this can generate the increase of car traffic or can change the existing traffic paths. In this paper it will see how a new real estate construction area with mixed functions in the Miroslava village influence the traffic flow. This new building will lead to an increased the number of vehicles in the area and will change the existing traffic patterns, so it is required a traffic study.","PeriodicalId":244525,"journal":{"name":"Bulletin of the Polytechnic Institute of Iași.
