The incremental inductance is modeled as a current source and the back emf is modeled as a voltage source. The model can be used to simulate four-quadrant operation of a switched reluctance motor drive. The experiments made on a fractional horsepower motor drive are in agreement with the simulation results.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129359611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The tool is based on DSP processor board, a hardware component oriented for embedded applications and Matlab/Simulink environment. Matlab is a standard in rapid prototyping of the control applications, but it doesn't have an adequate hardware support. The target controller is connected via serial port to the host PC computer. An integrated development toolbox having a distributed nature and real-time requirements was developed. It is useful for Rapid Control Prototyping and for Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulations. The full functionality of Matlab/Simulink can be used for parameter's visualization without interrupting or impeding the real time control process of the embedded microcontroller. Finally, the field-oriented for a two-phase PM stepper motor application is presented in order to demonstrate the effectiveness for this real time embedded controller.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130197884","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Another way of optimal coordination program is using artificial intelligent system such as genetic algorithm (GA). In this paper a new approach will be used for optimal coordination of OC relays based on genetic algorithm. In this work we take into account both time setting multiplier (TSM) and plug setting multiplier (PSM) of OC relays in optimization procedure. Most OC relays accept only discrete values as TSM and PSM, and you should change your final answers to discrete form and this may corrupt the optimization. In this paper the act of quantizing the answers is taken into account as a part of optimization procedure, so the outputs are optimized discrete TSM's and PSM's. The novelty of the paper is taking into account the PSM in addition to TSM to handle miscoordination problems both for continues and discrete TSM and PSM. The results obtained are quite encouraging and will be useful as an effective tool for coordination OC relays.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123816307","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The durability of the bearings is limited by \"hereditary\" factors such designing, technology, material, assembly, and also by factors of their use, for example the bearings loads, respectively the quality of lubricant. The evaluation of reliability of the bearings represents, in general, an initial stage in the calculation of the reliability of component elements of a complex electro-mechanic system, namely of an induction motor. The proposed model for evaluation of provisional reliability represents a logical continuation of the main stages that are performed in designing of a bearing assembly, and that has as basis the probability theory and the mathematical statistics methods, proper to the random character of the materials' properties, variation of the stresses and proper to the component elements dimensions.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126614337","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Much effort has been invested in reducing power consumption, especially in receivers for applications in which the receiver must be on at all times. Commercial devices can be obtained that consume only a few mA in continuous operation. In addition, methodologies such as poling and power cycling have been deviced to further reduce power consumption in receivers. Nevertheless, none of these methods is sufficient for truly low power needs such as in inaccessible sensors or embedded active RFID systems. The current work describes a simple method of power reduction that relies on sampling the receiver's output for extremely short periods and turning the receiver on only when data is present. Otherwise the receiver is in an off mode. Power reductions attainable using the methods and circuits described here are far beyond what can be achieved using traditional methods. Circuits and power budgets for some existing UHF receivers are given as examples.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121494706","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since universal motors can not meet the ever-growing standards of electrical equipment design, new generations of electric machines compete to conquer this market. For industrial applications and home appliances, PMSMs seem to be the most fitted solution, especially at high speed operation. In this paper, a 25 kW, 15 krpm, 6/4 PMSM is presented and analyzed via FEM, as a cost effective solution. Optimal design through Hooke-Jeeves method is; presented. The problem of cogging torque reduction is discussed and several techniques are used to reduce total torque pulsations. Results obtained via FEM are analyzed, in order to apply the best technique for our case, without compromising design requirements, low manufacturing costs and high efficiency.","PeriodicalId":244464,"journal":{"name":"2008 11th International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133619463","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
