Methods have been suggested by researchers to eliminate this steady state error. These methods are rather complicated. This work aims at suggesting a simpler speed controller to eliminate the steady state error of CSI-FED-IM whenever load changes occur. This simple controller makes use of a normal PI controller with the concept of reduction of disturbance by prediction. The change of load torque of the motor itself is considered as a disturbance and the linear relation between slip and torque has been utilised in the design of the controller to improve the performance.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":244042,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems. After prebonding the wafers at 200/spl deg/C, annealing was carried out at temperatures ranging from 600/spl deg/C to 1180/spl deg/C for times between 30 minutes and 20 hours. Bare silicon and oxidized wafers were bonded. The electrical specification was done by evaluating the I-V characteristics with respect to breakdown, reverse current, ideality factor and series and parallel resistance (R/sub s/, R/sub p/). A strong dependence of R/sub s/ and R/sub p/ on bonding temperature and time was observed. In order to prove the viability of the bonded substrate for power devices, the authors fabricated p-i-n diodes. The diodes exhibit breakdown voltages up to 1400 V and forward current densities of 2 A/mm/sup 2/. The MOSFET consists of a main power cell, a sensing cell and a lateral npn bipolar transistor. The proposed MOSFET may be fabricated by a conventional DMOS process without an additional mask step. Overcurrent state is sensed by the pinched resistor of the npn transistor so that any additional sensing resistor is not required. Sensing voltage at the pinched base resistor is 0.7 V. The limiting current level is adjusted easily by an external resistor. Simulation results show that the on-resistance of the power MOSFET is not deteriorated by the sensing and protection circuit. As a result, several alternative AC/DC converters, called power factor corrected (PFC) converters, meeting the agency requirements have been proposed. Most of these achieve near sinusoidal input current irrespective of power levels. However, for lower power levels, IEC-555-2 does not require a sinusoidal input current. Realising this, a parallel power processing scheme is proposed. Here, a conventional offline converter is paralleled with a PFC converter resulting in less overall power handled and thus in improved efficiency. Excellent output dynamics is achieved by two control methods. Method 1 proposes to cancel the second harmonic (100 Hz) current component injected into the output capacitor by the PFC converter. The input harmonic performance was improved further in method 2 which may be viewed as a modification of method 1. SABER simulation using both switched models and averaged models are utilised to confirm the anticipated good performance of the proposed scheme.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":244042,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 1995 International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems. They include instantaneous current control and wave shaping, fixed inverter switching frequency independent of the output frequency resulting in only known harmonics, and free-running carrier operation. A modelling approach to proposed PI VSI is introduced. A design example of the VSI power circuitry is presented. The PI controller design is discussed. The bipolar part renders high conduction current capabilities at low forward voltage while the MOSFET component makes it possible to implement voltage control with minimum gate drive requirements. In this paper, three types of MOS-controlled bipolar devices, namely the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT), the emitter switched thyristor (EST) and the n-channel MOS-controlled thyristor (NMCT), are analysed. Certain features unique to each device are highlighted. Lighting represents quite a substantial amount of energy consumed and thus the technology of electronic ballasts is receiving wide acceptance. However, in order to compete with the lower cost conventional ballast system, the demand is more for economical designs of the electronic ballasts, without significant sacrifice to the benefits obtainable, nor to the system reliability. This paper presents the design considerations for electronic ballasts such that economical designs take these into account. The EV under development by the authors use conventional 1500 [cc] class displacement cars as the base vehicles with a motor substituting the gasoline engine. Furthermore, the authors adopted a brushless DC motor to facilitate the reduction in the size and weight and increase in the efficiency of the driving system to be installed in the EV.
