Hazards and risks caused by the hydraulic drive control system of the rubber track undercarriage were identified. The schematic diagram and main components of the conventional hydraulic drive control system of a tracked undercarriage are presented. The functions and parameters of the components of the hydraulic power and control system are discussed. In a conventional hydraulic drive, the safety function is fulfilled by failsafe brakes built into the hydraulic motors. In order for RBS to work safely on the construction site, it was necessary to introduce an advanced safe control system for the hydraulic drive of the tracked undercarriage. An advanced safe control system for the hydraulic drive of the tracked undercarriage includes hydraulic control valves with safety functions, a two-channel category 3 safe control architecture, and a safety microcontroller. SISTEMA software tools were utilized to determine safety functions and calculate their specifications. Based on the specifications of the safety function associated with the category of the safety control architecture, the achievable performance level of the hydraulic drive control system for the tracked chassis was determined.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"4 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140372041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

While driving, drivers are influenced by stimuli that can affect their behaviour in various ways. Nowadays, various types of multimedia devices have become popular, which, when used by drivers while driving, can influence driver attention. The literature undertakes studies of the impact of such devices on the driver's degree of distraction as measured, for example, by the driver's reaction time. A survey was conducted to identify sources of driver distraction. A total of 237 drivers aged between 18 and 78 years participated in the sample. Of the respondents, 64.6% use a mobile phone while driving, 20.3% use a smartwatch, 33.3% use a multimedia control system for vehicle functions. Respondents indicated that they had either witnessed (18.1%) or been involved (6.3%) in a collision/accident when the driver used various types of multimedia devices while driving. Of those surveyed, 2.1% had caused a collision or accident by using a multimedia device while driving. Respondents are aware of the risks of using different types of media devices while driving, but they still use them. The analyses of the survey data will be used in future research using a car simulator.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"5 5","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140372582","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generating electricity by distributed photovoltaic systems is a very visible trend across Europe. Individual and institutional owners are looking for opportunities to save large amounts of money spent on the purchase of electricity. Many times they have built a photovoltaic system larger than their current energy needs. The author suggests a solution to increase the energy produced for own needs instead of giving it to the power grid at unfavorable prices. Such a solution is the purchase of an electric vehicle that will be charged with surplus energy. Research on the selection of a vehicle for a photovoltaic system should start with a precise profile of the current energy consumption from the power grid, energy production from the photovoltaic system and transferring its excess to the power grid. The next step is to characterize the potential electric vehicle. Such characteristics include determination of the energy capacity of the traction battery and the methods of its charging. The final stage is the analytical confirmation of the choice made. For this purpose, the Metalog family of distributions was used to determine the probability of generating the appropriate hourly amount of energy needed to charge an electric vehicle.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140369323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is renewable and produces less hazardous emissions when burned. Enhancing biodiesel production is imperative to meet the escalating demand for eco-friendly fuels, serving as a remedy for the rising costs and dwindling accessibility of petroleum. This study aims in boosting neem biodiesel production specially in dry and unproductive soil regions and improving engine power using neem oil biodiesel, especially using lower blends. This study is in line with the initiatives that promote sustainable energy growth by gradually increase biodiesel blending from 15% to 30% in the near future. This research delves into the manufacturing of biodiesel from neem seeds and impact of its blends on the efficiency and emissions of compression ignition engines when combined with regular fuel. The biodiesel was produced using the transesterification method.Three distinct blends, B10, B15, and B20, were prepared by blending neem biodiesel with regular diesel. When testing engine performance, these mixtures were compared against pure diesel fuel. The specific fuel consumption and brake thermal efficiency of all blend combinations improved with increasing load. In comparison to pure diesel, there were also decreased percentages of hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and smoke opacity. There was an increase in nitrogen oxides with increasing load for all mixes as compared to pure diesel. The research results highlight neem biodiesel as a practical and efficient alternative to conventional diesel fuel due to its ability to enhance engine efficiency and lowering emissions.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"102 7","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140370474","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Following this concept, new risks emerge, when workers have to cooperate with collaborative robots, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning and learn new methods different from previous processes and systems. The paper first presents the theoretical background related to the topic addressed. The next sections encompass the literature review, including a list of references relevant to achieving the main objective of the paper, as well as a description of the research methods used in the paper. With regard to the main objective, quantitative research concerning the vehicle construction systems' safety issues in industry 4.0 was conducted; i.e., a questionnaire survey was developed within a sufficiently representative sample of respondents. After conducting the survey, the risk assessment model of vehicle construction systems' safety under the conditions of Industry 4.0 was proposed while applying the principles of system dynamics. An integral part of the paper is represented by the discussion of the obtained results and benefits, as well as the formulation of relevant conclusions.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"7 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"140373161","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The joint is applied, among others, in automotive vehicles as an element of the drive shaft. The cage along with the balls form the intermediate element of the joint. The vibration of the element is activated during the drive shaft rotation. The vibration is enforced kinematically by the mechanism constraints. The constraints are determined by the assumed clutch geometry. The aim of the paper is to determine the variability course of the kinematic quantities characterizing the intermediate element motion of the Birfield-Rzeppa constant velocity universal joint. If the transmission function and the second position function of the clutch lead to the fluctuation of the angular velocity value and the angular acceleration of the cage along with the balls, then vibration is generated within the joint. The paper shows that drive shaft interference can be reduced by using a vibration reduction system. The article does not present an analysis aimed at reducing vibrations. Only the need for its use in the case of serious disturbances has been demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"22 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139151515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After an analytical analysis of the data, it is possible to propose steps that can be used to actively contribute to the reduction of air pollution, especially due to road traffic. Places where deteriorated air quality was identified were identified on the basis of practical measurements. Given that the measurement route was designed in a built-up area of the city with a large number of pedestrians, the research was primarily focused on the identification of particulate matters (PM) and the concentration of carbon monoxide CO. The measurements were performed repeatedly on a pre-defined route. The measurements were carried out repeatedly during the morning rush hour when traffic was congested on the roads. Based on the processing and evaluation of the measurements, the sections where increased values of individual emissions were recorded were determined. In this way, it is possible to precisely identify places where air quality deteriorates. The research conclusions provide support for planning the optimization of air quality management policies towards the creation of sustainable cities. The research results present the possibilities of identifying problematic sections from the point of view of emissions production. Critical places with regard to the production of emissions can be connected to places where a permanently increased movement of vehicles is observed.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"72 6","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139151741","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By replacing heavy materials for structural elements or bus components with their lighter counterparts, the kerb weight of the bus can be reduced by up to several hundred kilograms. This article presents the issues of the development of city bus design in terms of passenger space comfort and bus structure in the context of reducing the vehicle's own weight since the 1970s. The main changes in vehicle design allowing for reducing the weight of structural elements of bodies and chassis as well as the main assemblies in city buses are presented as well as research on body types in terms of aerodynamics, safety and travel comfort. It has been shown that reducing the weight of the bus does not negatively affect its load capacity and the new bus designs are equipped with safety and comfort systems, including ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ASR (Automatic Stability Regulation), ESP (Electronic Stability Program) and air conditioning in the passenger space. Thanks to modern light construction materials, we gain the opportunity to improve safety and comfort without losing the transport capabilities developed as a result of the development of city buses over the years.","PeriodicalId":243632,"journal":{"name":"The Archives of Automotive Engineering – Archiwum Motoryzacji","volume":"68 2","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139151795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
