Small and medium-sized petroleum exploration companies operating in Africa have their nuances. This exploratory case study looks at petroleum companies to determine how the decision-makers make decisions and the impact of these decisions. Using eight in-depth interviews, three themes emerged: 1) establishing criteria for selecting an area to explore is a vital part of decision making and stems from a clear corporate strategy, 2) timing of making decisions seems to be the most important criteria in making decisions for petroleum companies as it has the greatest impact on projects being pursued, 3) relationships the companies have, are required to have, or plan to have with other companies or governments threads all decision making. Having a mutually beneficial relationship with partners helps to make decision making easier. A company's continued existence and ability to pursue its corporate strategy is considered a successful decision. Traditional views of decisions on a project-by-project basis may not be appreciating the full picture.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. It is widely used for prediction. However, CBR induces many shortcomings, particularly in its retrieval phase. Many methods and techniques were provided, but have influenced differently the effectiveness of the deduced results. Also, hybridizing different methods emerged to get a better information retrieval and this reasoning manner becomes a ubiquitous issue. The present study has as an objective lending support to CBR to enable enhanced retrieving valid prediction. For this purpose, the study proposes a methodology based on hybridizing data mining with CBR. Thereby, a data mining model is used and a reduced search space solution before processing a CBR's prediction retrieval is proposed. To assess the approach, a clustering was applied to a car safety data set to generate a reduced case base. Then CBR uses it for predicting the car safety. The results show a precision over 80% and an accuracy over 82%, which are well over the classical CBR and indicate the relevance of the approach.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. They also generate significant domestic and export earnings. Based on these, SMEs can be considered as key instruments in poverty alleviation and job creation. Unfortunately, globalization and trade liberations in different forms and shapes have ushered in new opportunities as well as challenges which have become cumbersome for most SMEs to overcome. This paper discusses the extent to which SMEs have become social agents and actors in shaping the economies of developing countries. Findings reveal that the inability of most SMEs to surmount the challenges posed by globalization serves as a stumbling block to the joblessness and social mischiefs in various developing economies.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. Especially in recent years, experts have gradually shifted their research horizons to gender pay difference of executive compensation. This paper takes executive compensation of listed companies as the research object, uses fixed effect model to study gender pay difference of executive compensation of listed companies from 2016 to 2020, and finds that the gender gap of executive compensation of listed companies shows a trend of decreasing first and then increasing, and the proportion of female executives has an insignificant reverse effect. Private enterprises have a significant reverse effect on the gender gap of executive compensation. That is, there is a gender difference in executive compensation of listed companies, and the factor affecting the gender gap is the nature of the company, while the proportion of female executives are not regarded as the influencing factor.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. The model proposes that companies can determine their most effective structure by assessing eleven literature-based characteristics that best describe the firm. Through a survey of 143 executive MBA students, this paper provides results, conclusions, and implications of the first empirical test of a math-based organizational structure decision-making model. The research presented suggests that eleven key variables, or organizational characteristics, should be included in any predictive structure model. Corporate executives need and seek theoretical and practical guidance regarding how to best organize, structure, or re-structure their firm to gain and sustain competitive advantage. The model tested herein provides real-world guidance to managers regarding how to decide which organizational structure is most effective for any given firm.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. Traditionally, organizations rely mostly on cost leadership, product differentiation and focus strategies as tools for competitive advantage that will enable them outperform competitors. However, the rapidly changing business landscape has shown organizations that they must go beyond the traditional strategies to compete efficiently. To this effect, this research examines Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as an organizational tool for competitive advantage. It aims to answer the ever-vague question on whether the adoption of CSR can lead to competitive advantage and what drives indigenous Nigerian organizations to carry out CSR activities.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. This necessitates a generic and multi-dimensional view that organisational and managerial processes should be assessed by the underlying micro-foundation of dynamic capabilities (DC) in conjunction with enhanced new product development (NPD) projects. This study aims to propose an operationalised model of the conceptual DC framework including sensing, seizing, and reconfiguration capacities. The advantage of the two aforementioned models, which are based on a multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) framework, is that they can assist managers in the automotive industry to identify improvement plans and goals for sound and robust decision making. For this purpose, the evidential reasoning (ER) approach, which is realised in the intelligent decision system (IDS) software tool, is employed to perform performance self-assessment for the selected manufacturing companies on DC. This study provides managers with a useful tool to assess their company's strengths and weaknesses in regard to the DC components.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Strateg. Decis. In recent decades, the population's heightened commitment to morality and the way public policies have been conducted have provoked demands from society for stricter controls and transparency in the actions of electoral institutions worldwide. In this context, considering the relevance of the performance of these institutions for legitimacy in elections and political stability, this study presents a process to support governance and election legitimacy management. The constructivist multicriteria methodology guided the construction of the model by identifying strategic objectives and highlighting properties associated with critical factors, which allowed for the measurement of performance and the identification of competitive differentials and vulnerabilities. The process of support for governance has the potential to boost performance, increase the credibility of electoral institutions, and increase society's confidence in elections.","PeriodicalId":242450,"journal":{"name":"Int.
