This research work investigates the notion that the education system is to blame for a loss of creativity in adults. As a result of the attempts to stifle creativity in schools, subjects including Design and Technology (DT finance, the government, universities, tradition and more, it is not surprising that the subject fails to attract the interest levels it deserves. However, increasingly design should attract a greater awareness may reserve, in response to a shift towards a Britain that needs to be acknowledged for design and innovation.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":"BME-22 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-07-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132791195","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the onset of these technological advances, a refined lens for analysis of the effectiveness of these tools is required. Web based tools necessitate a synthesis of Technological, Pedagogical and Content knowledge. Moreover, the use of technology should support the content and pedagogy linked to the objective of the lesson. This work introduces the use of VoiceThread as a promising technological tool used to encourage reading fluency. Particularly, it emphasizes the Audio-Visual benefits of interactive use of engaging text and VoiceThread to improve reading fluency via the notable practices of Repeated Reading and Readers Theater. The scope, therefore builds upon best practices in literacy instruction, the technological pedagogical and content knowledge framework, as well as application of integrating web 2.0 tools in classroom settings.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126068114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this purpose a CAI package was developed and validated. The validated CAI package formed an independent variable of this study. The dependent variable is students' achievements in physics content. In order to find out the achievements in Physics among IX standard students, the investigator developed and standardized an achievement test on Physics unit entitled “Work, Power and Energy” prescribed for IX std. by Tamilnadu Textbook Society. It is a pre-test-post-test equivalent group design. In order to have randomization in the sample the investigator selected two schools in Madurai city. The Experimental and Control groups were identified in both these schools. Before the treatment both experimental and control groups were equated based on their performances in entry level test. The selected experimental and control groups were administered Pre test, developed and validated by the investigator. The treatment was conducted in four equal sessions. After all the treatments both the groups were administered Post test. Data were collected from the students. They were tabulated and statistical treatments were applied. The analysis results are discussed in this paper.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122689096","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SALA is a character development and college preparatory program designed for middle grade student athletes. The focus of this paper is to provide information about year 1 of SALA. At the same time the paper will contextualize SALA within the spectrum of discussions regarding Teacher Education and its ability to address the needs of young African American men. The data analysis for this study highlights participant responses regarding the overall effectiveness of SALA through the careful examination of : qualitative focus group responses on issues related to SALA curricular implementation and lessons learned; and a Tri–Squared analysis of participant perceptions of overall SALA program effectiveness. The goal of this research investigation is to provide a community–oriented and based program that can be developed into a replicative model. This model can then be offered to other communities seeking to provide meaningful experiences designed to directly address the unique issues and specific needs of young African American men and young men of color.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":" 12","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120834003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study investigated the health education needs of elementary school students. The purpose of the present study is to assess health education needs of elementary school students. The study adopted mix approach of (qualitative and quantitative) research for data collection. The quantitative data were collected by administering piloted questionnaire on elementary school students (n=400) and the response rate was 82% (as 328 responses were complete). The same participants were also interviewed in groups of 4-6 students. The data collected through questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively; whereas, interviews were analyzed thematically. Overall 68% of the elementary school students required information about the main constructs of health education; 69% appeared to be keen on knowing about physical environment in and around their schools and homes; 77% were interested to get awareness about commonly spreading out diseases and puberty issues. The results of this study appeared to be aligned to the social context of Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The elementary school students were merely aware of the main constructs of health education and needed awareness, specifically in food and nutrition, hygiene, seasonal and tropical diseases, infectious diseases, and psychological problems. Proper school health education programme may be initiated for elementary school students.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124443647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A pilot study indicated the usefulness of professional development where teachers use the framework to determine the number reasoning of students in their own classes. Subsequently, as part of the professional development offered for the projects, a DVD showing numerous video clips of students was produced to show teachers what range of number strategic thinking they might expect in their classes. In the next five years more clips were added and some edited out. This paper outlines how the video clips were incorporated into the initial stages of the enhanced teacher professional development model to enhance teaching effectiveness in using the strategic number framework, and how these clips are used in the pre-service education of student teachers at the University of Auckland.","PeriodicalId":242221,"journal":{"name":"Journal on School Educational Technology","volume":"5 S2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-02-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120851480","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
