One of the challenges KWT \"Sido Makmur\" faces is the fluctuation and instability of oyster mushroom production due to environmental conditions around the mushroom barn, which are not always ideal. To overcome this, the Community Service Team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), in collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic (SP), carried out Community Service activities under the Community Partnership (PKM) scheme. This service aims to assist KWT \"Sido Makmur\" in facing the challenges of oyster mushroom production by designing and implementing Appropriate Technology in the form of a temperature and humidity monitoring system in mushroom barns based on the Internet of Things (IoT). The service team's programs and activities include planning, designing, implementing, testing, and analyzing the IoT technology-based mushroom monitoring system for temperature and humidity. This system allows oyster mushroom farmers in Ngaran Hamlet to monitor the condition of the mushroom coop in real-time and remotely via the IoT platform to increase the productivity of oyster mushrooms optimally. The results of the implementation and testing of the system show that the monitoring tool for temperature and humidity in the IoT-based mushroom barn has been proven to function properly in accordance with the design planning and expectations of oyster mushroom farmers in Ngaran Hamlet.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"188 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114922100","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Children who consume herbal medicine are more interested in colorful products according to the advertised taste, while adult consumers are more interested in herbal compositions that are slightly sweeter (less sugar). This service aims to provide alternative natural dyes and non-sugar fillers for instant herbal products. Accordingly, the service was carried out in two stages. The service program was carried out using the tutorial method and focus group discussions (FGD). Tutorials were carried out online with natural materials as a source of alternative natural dyes and innovations in the use of non-sugar fillers. Group discussions focused on innovations in using non-sugar fillers with low production costs. The results showed that Rosella flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) are recommended as natural dyes for instant herbal medicine for children for red, yellow, and purple colors, while Suji leaves (Dracaena Angustifolia) for green colors. Additionally, Maltodextrin Fluidized Bed Dryer (FBD) ) is recommended as a non-sugar filler.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121870821","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is plenty of potential for the production of coconut plantations in the village, but the business of differentiating coconut into cooking oil is of little interest to the community. Low interest is due to relatively limited knowledge and understanding of the economic potential of cooking oil products, especially market uptake. Efforts can be made to increase the added value of cooking oil products. This program aimed to increase the added value of cooking oil products to improve market uptake. Accordingly, the direct learning method was used in this service program, and its activities included training and mentoring. The results of the service program showed that the program that had been implemented generated new enthusiasm for Farmer Groups and PKK. Also, the trademark “MIKOM” was used as branding for coconut cooking oil products from Sungai Rasau Village, accompanied by an attractive offer sentence as a form of online promotion of traditional coconut cooking oil products. Differences in methods and production costs incurred as well as adjustments to the latest costs due to the increase in fuel, became an obstacle for training participants to calculate product selling prices. The participants poorly understood the information technology training because the village lacked sufficient Internet access. Farmer groups carried out the marketing simulation for coconut cooking oil as producers of coconut cooking oil, while the PKK acted as marketing field coordinator.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130205105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The community has tried to deal with it, but it has not been optimal. Another reason is to increase public awareness of waste management so it becomes a medium to improve the economy and create a society’s legal awareness. Thus, what is village regulations' role in waste management in Tanjung Atap Barat village? What steps can be taken so that the waste problem in Tanjung Atap Barat village becomes of economic value? By following the Regulation of Tanjung Atap Barat Village Number 003 of 2020 About the Management of Household Waste and the Surrounding Environment, the community improves waste management in the village and raises awareness of environmental issues. Village Regulation Number 003 of 2020 has a system consisting of 14 chapters and 37 articles. If it is examined more deeply, waste has the potential to affect household income. Therefore, improvement can start through its citizens, especially women and the younger generation. Every household is involved in managing at least its own waste, socialization, training, mentoring, and direct practice to increase public understanding and knowledge in handling waste into economic value. Especially in Tanjung Atap Barat village, it has started with placing trash cans in every house. Also, waste is segregated by its type: plastic, paper, and household waste.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124921450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Medicinal plants are usually prepared from the decoction of fresh ingredients obtained from the TOGA garden. Medicinal plant products must be used immediately to avoid the risk of spoilage, especially when the yield is abundant. One of the technologies to reduce the spoilage of medicinal plant products needs to be made in the form of Simplicia. The dry form of Simplicia can make it easier for the public to standardize the doses of medicinal plants and prepare standardized decoctions using the infusion and decoct methods. The service program aims to increase knowledge and skills in making Simplicia and preparation techniques for traditional red ginger and papaya leaf medicines according to standard dosages. The methods used in implementing the program were tutorials and practices. The results of the service program were as follows: 1) Knowledge of PKK partner women in the Sambiroto and Sendang Mulyo areas, Semarang, quantitatively increased significantly by 13.83% as shown by the results of the pre-test vs. post-test, 69.5 vs. 83.33, p-value 0.034; 2) Knowledge and technical skills for preparing traditional medicines using the infusion and decoct methods also increased significantly.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117076373","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Accordingly, it becomes a challenge for elementary school teachers in their English teaching practice as students are more focused on mastering vocabulary. Therefore, teachers should create a pleasant and joyful classroom to ensure students learn English effectively. According to that background, English teaching community service programs should benefit elementary schools. This program was to help create a fun classroom and make the learning process more effective by using songs as the vocabulary teaching method. Muhammadiyah Senggotan Elementary School was involved since it claimed English as its concerned subject to attract prospective students. Therefore, there was a great challenge to provide a variety of teaching methods while doing online and face-to-face learning. This program was conducted by teaching third-grade students during the pandemic using face-to-face meetings. Four stages were applied in this program: need analysis, planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The pre-test and post-test results showed a significant difference in students' vocabulary level mastery before and after applying songs in the English teaching and learning process. Hence, this program's sustainability is maintained by increasing the variety of teaching methods through different activities.","PeriodicalId":239893,"journal":{"name":"Berdikari: Jurnal Inovasi dan Penerapan Ipteks","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133886081","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
