Thus, in this process, researchers have queries whether elderly disengage or withdraw, whether their disengagement or activity brings satisfactions and how is their attitude towards the functionality of disengagement. To measure these, disengagement and activity theories have been used with descriptive research design when respondents were selected purposively and interviewed Face-to-Face. Most of the elderly in Bangladesh believe themselves to be forced to retire. A significant portion of retired elderly answered that they wanted to be engaged instead retire but, in reality, most of them enjoy disengagement escaping from earlier activities that ensures their quality of life and satisfaction. After all, it is found that disengagement is functional as the sense that the elderly people give up their positions to the young as they are not able to defeat them in the activity level.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131697179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The town of reference is Zorse, which is inhabited by the Kusasi tribe in the North Eastern part of Ghana. Anthropologists and psychologists explain anxiety assault as a fear reaction that emanates from a people’s belief that a person can cause sex organs to vanish or shrink. Charles Mather used ethnography to describe detailed accounts of happenings. This current paper provides a systematic review of happenings based on the information gathered from the script of Mather. It is revealed that the explanations offered are also grounded in bioengineering and psychology.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123030319","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Iranian revolution in the space of modernity as a paradigm dominating the world occred in 1979. During the revolution and afterwards many crises were created in the Iranian society and the new political system. In the wake of the crises, numerous religious and non-religious groups consisting of clerics, intellectuals and academics sought to eliminate them. Each of these groups proposed a solution to these crises according to their intellectual base and community space or various intellectual and philosophical tendencies. Some of these groups saw their solution in embracing scientificism and adherence to it, some embraced Western models, modernity, and harmony with the West, others saw the solution in following traditionalism and distance from the West and the rationality of the new world, And some have considered solutions to managing society based on the Islamic model. Following will explain the thoughts of the thinkers of the two major streams of thought from these currents.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"145 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-07-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133220565","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aims at discussing the results of observation and in depth interview to the practitioners of tabur beras kuning tradition who still hold and practice this tradition in every wedding ceremony in Malang. This topic is interesting because there is a kind of acculturation between Islam and culture. Islam with its Islamic values has influenced tabur beras kuning tradition and it has worked for long time and it is still practiced up to now. Islamic values have colored the culture. This, further, brings to the arising of the Muslim cultural symbols. The Islamic values in tabur beras kuning tradition have affected people to depend on and get closer to God the Almighty so that the societies who do this tradition might always hope to live prosperously and peacefully. Therefore, it is important to maintain tabur beras kuning tradition so that this tradition would not be perishing in line with the coming of modern era.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"253 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116394136","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inspired by the situational logic of the constructivist paradigm, the paper’s analysis is limited to the preliminary stages propaedeutic to the operativeness of research, in an attempt to argue the insurmountable condition of contingency and circularity of scientific knowledge and of the procedures themselves which need to be problematised and ‘adjusted’ to specific situations. Furthermore, starting from a number of assumptions on the implicit constituents of methodological pragmatism, the paper attempts to illustrate its peculiarities with regard to the abductive logic of construction of appropriate indicators for the issues under investigation.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123848901","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Development induced displacement has been seen as one of the largest categories of internal displacement affecting the urban poor. It occurs where coercion is employed and choices constrained. Evidence suggests that a large number of the people in the informal economy are affected and their experience has been extremely negative in cultural, economic, and health terms. The outcomes usually included lost of properties, displacement, unemployment, debt-bondage, hunger and cultural disintegration. The study was anchored on the cultural estrangement theory. The study was based on 10 sessions of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) conducted with the affected people in Ijora-Badia, Mile 2 and Orile and 20 in-depth interview sessions with some of the displaced persons and officials of relevant agencies in the metropolis. The finding reveals lack of effective communication between the government officials and the displaced people, high-handedness on the part of government officials, lack of social support for the displaced people, high incidence of crime rate, high unemployment rate, dislocation of the informal economy, physical death, insecurity of life and property and psychological torture. The study therefore, recommends that the government should devise means for adequate compensation to avert a possible threat to ameliorate the suffering of informal economy operators. There is the need for government to enlighten and disseminate information about government policies to people operating in the informal sector in Lagos State.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127268923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This mixed - methodological study examines the influence of ethnicity, attitudinal, and behavioral traits on religious affiliation and related experiences for 258 female members of the Shack Dwellers Federation of Namibia, a network of neighborhood-based savings groups that attempts to provide affordable housing and related infrastructure services to poor women. In addition to its practical benefits, we consider whether the Federation represents a proxy-church for members. We assess the following research questions: With which churches are Federation women affiliated? Do their ethnicities or views and decisions about the Federation affect their religious ties? Do results suggest that the Federation provides outcomes commonly associated with churches? Results based on statistical and content analyses illustrate differences in religious affiliation and experiential variations based on ethnicity as well as church-like benefits of Federation involvement.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129630145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As analytical material and as an illustration, we use a project where qualitative research methods produce more trustworthy and credible information about a phenomenon than did quantitative research methods. In the process of studying the market for research-based facility programming, we reflected on the heuristic potential and productivity of the methods that have been used traditionally. We made a comparative analysis of the survey and qualitative research designs when used for the study of situations that previously had not been researched or have rarely been researched. This study demonstrates a way of reasoning, grappling with the dilemma of “qualitative versus quantitative,” and reveals the decision making process, as well as some unexpected findings, in evaluating facility programming research. This paper contributes to promoting qualitative methodology in professional practice, in applied projects, and in industries that rely heavily on quantitative research designs.","PeriodicalId":239220,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Sociological Research","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130017638","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
