When the unmanned aircraft system (UAS) is operating to meet most requirements for civilian missions, flight surveillance is important to operators on the ground. This paper presents a simple way to build UAS surveillance into a smart phone to remotely visualize flight situation. A cloud system is established on telecommunication web to allow UAS mission partners to down flight watch information. A 3D terrain is constructed on Google Earth to present better terrain awareness for the operators. It offers a good virtual reality for remote visualization to assist UAS flight maneuvering.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"359 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122752930","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been developed since two decades ago. While there was no redundancy in the first generation of EGAT CCS, there were several redundancy related problems in the second generation. The problems were due to lack of redundancy in the design phase. It was very difficult to solve all the problems with this initial design structure. In this paper, the Circular N Redundancy (CNR) technique implemented in the third generation of EGAT CCS is illustrated. It alleviates the problems occurring in the second version of this control system redundancy. The new design concept of decentralization with redundancy is introduced. A distributed redundancy module manages each other in loop pattern. However, the previous type of redundancy requires a centralized watchdog. This is still a limitation of redundancy in case of failure of this overseer. To overcome this constraint, the distributed concept is also applied to the watchdog. Each unit can have a watchdog itself. One unit looks after another unit. Therefore, redundancy capability is enhanced to N modules. The more number of units is added to the system, the more level of reliability of the system is. However, an investment cost has to be compared with. Finally, the conformance test of this redundancy is proved in both switching time and validity of the process. Besides, the performance test with an in-house IEC61850 communication module is examined. The reliability requirement of EGAT CCS generation III is met by CNR.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133900746","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As more and more home appliances and consumer electronics are deployed, the power consumption in smart house (1) tends to grow and (2) leads an increase in the risk of power blackout. In this paper, we propose a system design for controlling maximum consuming power and preventing home blackout. Proposed system consists of SM and home appliances, and we assume that SM will provide access to the power generated and consumed of the appliance, but with a time delay. Then, we analyze the resulting design to illustrate the impact of SM, for two important properties of the smart house, preventing power blackout and maintaining power system stability. We also present the simulation results which show the appliance power consumption behavior when the available power is limited. Simulation results also help us in applying stability test with stable/unstable and overshoot/non-overshoot regions. We propose a formal approach to manage any modification, query or adaptation of the data to satisfy end-user/application criteria (e.g., RDF filtering). An overview of the RDF data manipulation framework with its main components is first presented. We then introduce the RDF-oriented Composition Definition Language (RDFCDL) including the syntax and its graphical representations defined based on CPNs. The language aims to support both expert and non-expert developers to create/compose RDF manipulation operations. Besides, an ontology for representing manipulating processes modelled with the RDFCDL language is developed in order to share and reuse the processes more easily. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first approach providing a means for end-users to create manipulation nodes over RDF data based upon system-defined functions and allowing manipulating processes to be stored in RDF file format.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116640213","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Industrial and academic hardware design projects can benefit from the use of the Custom Coprocessors Compilation (CCC) HLS behavioral synthesise, via the massive reduction in design and verification time. The CCC tool is built with formal compiler-compiler, Logic Programming and XML validation techniques, thus the generated RTL VHDL or Verilog models are provably-correct. In this work, we rapidly modeled CNNs in the ADA programming language, compiled and verified along with all the necessary testbenches in GNU ADA. Edge-detection, halftoning and morphological processing applications were prototyped, so as to evaluate the CCC HLS method, which was the main contribution of this work. The combination of Logic Programming and RDF validation techniques, as well as prototyping of CNN applications made this work unique.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122958810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Controlling these parameters makes the power system operators optimize the placement and penetration level of these sources. Consequently, several methods with various targets have been studied until now. In this paper, the evaluation of placement and penetration level of DG units considering stability improvement and power losses reduction has been investigated. To achieve these goals, different objective functions with several operating constraints were proposed. The well-known NSGA_II was utilized to optimize the objective functions considering the operating constraints. NSGA_II is an evolutionary based multi-objective optimization tools which has great advantages in comparison with other evolutionary algorithms. The utilized method was applied to IEEE 14 -bus and 57 -bus test systems. The ability of the proposed method in enhancing of voltage stability, improvement of voltage profile, and reduction of power losses were confirmed using simulation results.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"26 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114114041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A continuous adaptive dynamic vector is used to eliminate the chattering phenomenon in the sliding mode control and the asymptotic stability is achieved. On the base of a nonlinear dynamic model of the quad rotor with I configuration, adaptive sliding mode nonlinear controller is synthesized for the purpose of stabilization and trajectory tracking of quad rotor. In order to validate the robustness of the proposed control method, the model deviations are modeled. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) is the model providing many advantages to both provider and customer. Minimizing the number of resource (and power consumption) in use is one of the main services that such a cloud model must ensure. This objective can be done either by the customer at the application level (by dynamically sizing the application based on the workload) or by the provider at the virtualization level (by consolidating virtual machines based on the infrastructure's utilization rate). Many research works investigate resource management policies separately at the application level or at the virtualized level. In this paper, we study different strategies for cloud resource management: virtual machine consolidation only, dynamic application sizing only, both policy at the same time (either independent or cooperative). We show that virtual machine consolidation and dynamic application sizing do not fully bring benefits to the cloud provider and customer when being implemented without cooperation. Finally, we propose a cooperative model to improve the efficiency of these strategies, in reducing power consumption and keeping application's Quality of Service. Index Terms—cloud computing, cooperative, resource management.","PeriodicalId":239044,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Automation and Control Engineering","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124891897","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There are seven eras divided in accordance to the time in which the business world developed. This project explains the differences and the similarity between each of the eras, thus creating the supply chain Optimal Multidimensional Model of era six and the Automated Multidimensional Model of era seven. The slow pace of change in some business aspects, and the overlapping economic effects; the phrase \"Era\" is considered appropriate. Due to the limitations placed by the conference and the early stage of this research; this paper will explain the literature behind building the models for eras six and seven. The aim of the research is to create the Optimal Multidimensional Model for small and medium sized companies in order to help them map out the best supply chain. The supply chain Automated Multidimensional Model is an interactive system that helps industries with automated facilities and products pick the best supply chain model for their market and commodities. Both models will be tested by the use of a Delphi study which will be analyzed by fuzzy logic in order to estimate the degree of belief for each statement. This project is still in its preliminary stage; therefore the final results cannot be quantified. However an outline of both supply chain models will be presented at the conference.
