However, among all the works proposed for SVM hardware implementation, a lot of them are designed with predefined settings for specific objective, rendering them usable only for single or few purposes. This paper presents an SVM hardware architecture capable of classifying input data with arbitrary vector dimensionality and arbitrary precision, resulting in a generic support vector machine capable of classifying various targets. The proposed architecture also employs a speed-up method called soft cascade algorithm to enhance its performance. To assess its hardware implementation, it is synthesized in two styles using Xilinx FPGA and NanGate Open Cell Library. The results show a feasible circuit scale implementation, and when used for CoHOG pedestrian detection, the proposed hardware architecture is estimated to be capable of classifying up to 79 VGA images per second on FPGA and up to 35 HD images per second on 45nm process technology circuit, even under the condition that the architecture is not designed specifically for the aforementioned purpose.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127624394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By employing the charge-pump base background calibrating scheme, the offset voltage from process mismatch could be compensated within three standard deviation less than half of least significant bit (LSB) requirement. A one's counter base thermal to binary encoder is applied for reducing the impact from random noise. At 1-GS/s sampling rate, the SNR obtained 39.4dB by simulated result at Nyquist frequency. Since the channel quality of each client may be different, it is difficult to control the perceived video quality in a multicast group. To ensure the whole group receives the data, some multicast mechanisms use the client with the worst channel quality as a reference to decide transmission speed. However, it may result in very low average video quality. This paper proposes a scheme, namely Scalable Video Multicast, to maximize the average perceived video quality in a multicast group in wireless networks. The proposed scheme uses the property that different modulation coding schemes provide different transmission speed and have different transmission distances. Scalable Video Coding (SVC) and transmission rate scheduling are exploited to improve the average video quality perceived by the clients. The base layers of video frames provide basic visual quality to the clients. Rate scheduling applied on the enhancement layers improves the average visual quality. Simulations show that the proposed rate scheduling for SVC blocks can improve the average perceived video quality of multicast clients and outperforms other mechanisms in the literature.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131474754","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By using the Diversity Combining method, It is expected that the disruption caused by Amplitude and Phase Shift can be suppressed as small as possible. In addition, by using Diversity Combining module, the signal will have a larger SNR output which has a value sum of SNR from each diversity path. The design of Diversity Combining module begins with MATLAB functional design as a big picture of the whole system. Subsequently, it will be made the hardware based on the MATLAB functional. This architectural design will be the cornerstone in the design of MATLAB bit precision (hardware precision). The hardware modelling using MATLAB bit precision will be designed as the foundation of the VHDL (hardware) design. In the end, the output shown that this paper results meet the standards specified by the DVB consortium. In the hardware (FPGA) test results of Diversity Combining, the maximum working frequency is 44.56 MHz which has shown that is qualified with the standard sampling clock (9.142 MHz). The proposed method utilizes the Fourier transform of the cross-correlation function between the noisy speech signal and zero replacement signal. Minimum values of the absolute value of the resulting spectrum become the power spectrum of original clean speech signal. For the proposed method, noise estimation is not required to emphasize the speech signal. By subjective evaluation in the presence of both stationary and non-stationary noises, it is shown that the proposed method provides better performance than the conventional method at lower signal-to-noise ratio.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121207543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), which consists of multiple smart meters/sensors, is adopted to quickly detect the PQ events. In AMI network, multiple meters will send their local decisions to a data collecter/fusion center. The fusion center will make the final decision. The bandwidth between each meter to the fusion center is constrained to be only 1 bit for reducing the cost of communications. Moreover, some of the meters may be faulty in the considered AMI network. We propose a new one-bit randomized grouping algorithm to detect the PQ events with fault tolerant capability. Our simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can efficiently combat faulty meters, and have superior performance with previous works.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126993562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gohshi","doi":"10.1109/ISPACS.2015.7432851","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ISPACS.2015.7432851","url":null,"abstract":"In recent years, studies on Super Resolution (SR) have increased because of the introduction of 4K and 8K resolution. Super-Resolution image Reconstruction (SRR) and Learning-Based Super-Resolution (LBSR) are typical SR techniques. SRR performance limitations have been mentioned in several studies. However, practical performance of LBSR has not been clarified. If LBSR is used on a video device such as a television, it is necessary to assess the degree of image quality improvement in various types of images inputs to the device. Furthermore, the conventional Bicubic and Lanczos interpolation techniques are in general use as image enlargement techniques. LBSR is expected to perform better than such techniques. Accordingly, we conduct an objective evaluation of the practical performance of LBSR to determine its limitations. Applying LBSR to multiple images, we show that there are limitations to its ability to improve resolution, and that there is no benefit in improvement of resolution as compared with images enlarged using conventional interpolation techniques. Furthermore, real-time processing is essential for SR to apply to a video. However, the latest research shows that it is still difficult to process in real time. We discuss challenges in applying LBSR to a video with reference to the latest research. We evaluate the limitations of LBSR based on these issues.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115376113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In most of these algorithms, the initialization step of the NMF, which has a strong impact on the separation performance, is based on random values or deterministic methods such as singular value decomposition (SVD). Another deterministic initialization approach, which is used e.g. for score-informed source separation algorithms, makes use of synthesized magnitude spectra of harmonic notes. It was shown that this semantic method leads to good separation results in blind source separation (BSS) as well; not only for harmonic but also for percussive mixtures with some harmonic components. In this paper, we present an extension to the semantic approach to enhance the separation quality for arbitrary audio mixtures. We evaluate this extension in a BSS scenario and compare it to other initialization schemes.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116512847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In human visual system, the brightness and chromaticity are processed independently. Thus, in the proposed system, first, the color signal is divided into brightness and chromaticity. Next, the brightness and chromaticity are processed in parallel. Arbitrary color image processing methods can be applied to the proposed system. We show a concrete processing procedure based on the constancy by using the proposed system. That is to say, the automatic white balance which is simulated color constancy and the retinex which is simulated brightness constancy are performed in the proposed system. We make clear that high quality color enhancement images can be obtained by the proposed system through the processing results.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128337848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thousand of sensors are used in the collider sensor system to track the trajectories of the results of particle collisions. 3D surface measurement is proposed to assess the quality of sensors. Some surface characteristics of the sensors are defined based on the quality requirements. The 3D imaging algorithm has been developed to measure the thickness of connection line and edge of surface pads. A 3D scanner based on structure light projection method is used to scan the chip surfaces. The algorithm is tested on sensor models which have size similar with the actual sensor chip. The thickness of the line connection is found to be 0.0069 ± 4.0957 × 10-4 mm whereas the pad edge is 0.0015 ± 13.2570 × 10-4 mm. The results show that the algorithm can provide consistent measurement for both parameters.","PeriodicalId":238787,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Symposium on Intelligent Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ISPACS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128595669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
