To approve that, some different research has been conducted related to agricultural technology transfer for farmers influenced by agricultural extension programs management. Besides, the extension agents have a vital role in technology transfer to the rural farmers, they optimize their best to persuade the farmers to adopt using technologies in their farming practice. Undoubtedly, managing the effective programs for technology transfer of farmers is seen as the most influential implement to improve farmers to work hard and intelligently, while it is a causal effect to improve the farmers’ income which leads to boost the national income. The extension programs have a massive impact on farmers’ production as a result of utilizing agricultural technologies related to their work. Nonetheless, some constraints associated with extension work for technology transfer should be identified in most countries in the whole world and some applicable strategies should be developed with extension to make the extension work effective and efficient. One of the most significant issues confronting the mission of agricultural extension is the lack of proper knowledge about the new technologies from farmers toward applying information and technology, therefore, agricultural extension staff must think critically and logically for establishing an effective extension program and work on it well to inform and educate the farmers.","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"150 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"91445571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This experiment was done to study the effect of intercropping systems between caraway: garlic at different row ratio (sole crop of each as control, 1: 2, 2: 1 and 2: 2, respectively), different potassium rates (0, 25, 50 and 75 kg K 2 O/feddan) and their combination on growth and yield of caraway and garlic plants. Main plots consisted in the intercropping systems and the subplots were constituted by the potassium fertilization rates. Alternating two rows of caraway with two rows of garlic significantly increased plant height, number of branches per plant, plant fresh weight, number of umbels per plant and fruit yield per plant compared to sole caraway planting. Also, using 1: 2 intercropping system gave the highest values regard plant height, plant fresh weight and bulb fresh weight compared to sole garlic planting. Moreover, the highest potassium fertilization rate (75 kg K 2 O /feddan) gave the highest values in growth traits and yield components of caraway and garlic crops compared to control. Sole crop of caraway and garlic significantly recorded the highest values of fruits and bulbs yield per feddan compared to intercropping systems under study. In general, the combination between intercropping system and potassium affected growth and yield components of both crops and the best treatment in this regard was 2: 2 system for caraway and 1: 2 for garlic and 75 kg K 2 O/feddan","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86362738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Osman","doi":"10.21608/zjar.2023.297654","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.21608/zjar.2023.297654","url":null,"abstract":": The bitter gourd plant Citrullus colocynthis (L.) is a cucurbit that is widespread in desert areas. It has many pharmaceutical, medicinal, and nutritional uses due to its high content of biologically active compounds. In this study, the total phenolic compounds (TPCs) and total flavonoids (TFs) of ethanolic C. colocynthis seed extract were estimated. High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was used to identify the bioactive phenolic compounds. On the other hand, the antioxidant and anticancer activities of this extract were evaluated. The extraction yield from C. colocynthis seed using ethanol was recorded 10 g/100g seed. The total phenol (TPCs) content of the ethanolic extract obtained from C. colocynthis seed flour was 21 mg GAE g -1 dry extract, while the total flavonoid (TFCs) content was 15 mg QE g -1 dry extract. As well as the major phenolic and flavonoid compounds in C. colocynthis seed ethanolic extract, as determined by HPLC. Ellagic acid and cinnamic acid have the highest concentrations (894 and 746 µg/g dry extract, respectively) of all the components. The anticancer activity in vitro of the HCT116 and A-549 human cancer cell lines was evaluated using the MTT assay. The results of the MTT assay demonstrated that the C. colocynthis seed extract inhibited the proliferation of HCT116 and A-549 cells in a dose-dependent manner. C. colocynthis seed extract had an IC 50 against HCT116 and A-549 (454, and 416 µg/mL, respectively). Therefore, C. colocynthis can be used as a source to produce pharmaceutical and medicinal products.","PeriodicalId":23865,"journal":{"name":"Zagazig Journal of Agricultural Research","volume":"32 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86770446","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
