Its objective is to find out whether the use of pop up book media has a significance effect in writing descriptive text. Population used in this research of class VII were 38 and all samples used in this research were 38 students. The method used in this research is an experimental method with a one group as pre-test and post-test design .This research was carried on using quantitave method. The data was analysed by using t-test. The researcher found the pre-test mean = 56,18 , deviation standard = 5,86 and experienced an increase in the pos-ttest mean = 79,34 deviation standard = 4,10. From this analysis, writer found that guided pop up book media has significance in teaching writing descriptive text. The sample that used is 1 class total 30 student. The research design is a research using Quantitative research methods using a descriptive approach. A descriptive approach is used to collect data systematically, factually, and quickly according to the description when the research was carried out. The students who were taught by Using Pictorial Poster got better achievement that those who were taught by using conventional technique that was Teacher. the highest score of the pre-test was 65 and the lowest was 45. While the highest score of post-test was 85 and the lowest was 70. The result of means of Pre-Test was 55.33 while the result of deviation standard was 6.32 And the result of means of Post-Test was 78.50. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan teknik baca dan teknik catat dalam pengumpulan data. Prosedur penelitian meliputi: (1) memahami jenis-jenis gaya bahasa, diksi dan citraan, kemudian membaca serta menelaah novel Api Tauhid, (2) mencatat data berupa gaya bahasa, diksi dan citraan, (3) mengklasifikasikan data yang telah diperoleh, (4) mendeskripsikan gaya bahasa, diksi dan citraan yang diperoleh dalam novel, (5) menyimpulkan hasil analisis. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan sebanyak 90 penggunaan gaya bahasa secara keseluruhan, yakni majas perbandingan (majas asosiasi sebanyak 22 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas metafora 4 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas personifikasi 12 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas antisipasi 2 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas metonimia 1 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas simile 3 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas simbolik penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas alegori 4 penggunaan gaya bahasa) dan majas penegasan (majas repetisi 29 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas klimaks 3 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas anti klimaks 2 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas apofasis 2 penggunaan gaya bahasa, majas koreksio 1 penggunaan gaya bahasa). Keunikan diksi terdapat pada leksikon bahasa arab sebanyak 49, leksikon bahasa asing (inggris & turki) sebanyak 24, leksikon bahasa jawa sebanyak 14. Yang menjadi populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 2 Badar yang berjumlah 73 siswa. Adapun yang menjadi sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII A yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan one group preetest and posttest design dengan analisis data menggunakan uji “t”. Adapun data yang diperoleh nilai rata-rata tes awal penerapan metode small group work terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi adalah sebesar 53,66 dan termasuk dalam kategori kurang, dengan standar deviansinya sebesar 5,76 dan mengalami peningkatan pada hasil tes akhirnya dengan nilai rata – rata 76,33 dengan standar deviansinya sebesar 3,72. Berdasarkan hasil nilai tes awal dan tes akhir siswa tersebut dan jika dikaitkan dengan nilai KKM pelajaran bahasa Indonesia di SMP Negeri 2 Badar sebesar 75, maka kemampuan siswa dalam penerapan metode small group work terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi untuk tes akhir siswa termasuk dalam kategori baik. Dari pengujian hipotesis diperoleh thitung sebesar 16,66 dikonsultasikan dengan ttabel pada taraf signifikasi 5% adalah sebesar 1,699 dengan demikian thitung > ttabel atau 16,66 > 1,699 maka hipotesis diterima. Adapun yang menjadi populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas xi yang berjumlah 19 orang. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan rancangan one group pretest and postest design dengan analisis data menggunakan uji “t”. Dari pengelolahan data di peroleh nilai rata-rata tes awal pembelajaran menulis teks prosedur oleh siswa sebesar 33,68 dan termasuk dalam kategori kurang, dengan standar deviasinya sebesar 16,40 dan mengalami peningkatan nilai hasil tes akhirnya dengan nilai rata-rata sebesar 70,53 dan termasuk dalam kategori baik, dengan standard deviasinya sebesar 10,26. Berdasarkan hasil nilai tes awal dan tes akhir siswa tersebut dan jika di kaitkan dengan nilai kkm mata pelajaran bahasa indonesia untuk sma sebesar 70 maka pembelajaran menulis teks prosedur siswa termasuk dalam kategori baik. Dari pengujian hipotesis diperoleh nilai t observasi = 8,30 dan di konsultasikan dengan nilai pada taraf signifikan 5% = 2,101 dengan demikian > atau 8,30 > 2,101 maka hipotesis di terima.
