Linenbebg","doi":"10.1002/PSSB.19670240231","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1002/PSSB.19670240231","url":null,"abstract":"The diffusion coefficients of Tl+ ions are measured in “pure” KCl crystals (obtained from the melt or crystallized from aqueous solutions), and in KCl crystals doped with SrCl2 or BaCl2, over the temperature range 160 to 210 °C. Doping and various other treatments decrease the diffusion constants compared with those in the melted sample. This is accompanied by a large increase in the apparent jump energy EA. The assumption of metastable supersaturated solutions of the divalent impurity ions present in “pure” KCl leads to a consistent and quantitative interpretation of these results. The jump energy of the Tl+ ions, δhTl, calculated from results for the above KCl samples is found to be (0.84 ± 0.02) eV, whilst a specially purified sample, containing a total divalent impurity concentration cp = 2.17 × 10−6, gives the direct value: δhTl = 0.836 eV. The mean heat of dissolution χi of the prevalent divalent impurities is (1.44 ± 0.04) eV, and the corresponding entropy factor ηi is 0.953 × 10−3 eV/deg. The supersaturation concentration in samples from the melt is found to be about 5 × 10−6 mole fraction. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000Der Diffusionskoeffizient von Tl+-Ionen in »reinem« KCl (gezuchtet aus der Schmelze oder durch Kristallisation aus der wasrigen Losung) wurde im Temperaturintervall 160 bis 210 °C gemessen. Dotieren mit SrCl2 oder BaCl2 und verschiedene andere Behandlungen von KCl verursachten im Vergleich mit der geschmolzenen Probe eine Verringerung der Diffusionskonstante. Gleichzeitig wurde eine bedeutende Erhohung der scheinbaren Sprungenergie EA beobachtet. Die Vermutung, das ubersattigte metastabile Losungen von zweiwertigen Verunreinigungsionen in »reinem« KCl vorhanden sind, fuhrt zu einer konsistenten und quantitativen Interpretation der Mesergebnisse. Die aus den Ergebnissen berechnete Sprungenergie von Tl+-Ionen, δhTl >, betrug (0,84 ± 0,02) eV, wahrend eine besonders gereinigte Probe mit einer Gesamtkonzentration an zweiwertigen Verunreinigungen von cp = 2,17 × 10−6 den direkten Wert δhTl = 0,836 eV ergab. Der Mittelwert der Losungs-warme χi der vorherrschenden zweiwertigen Verunreinigungen betragt (1,44 ± 0,04) eV, der entsprechende Entropiefaktor ηi, ist gleich 0,953 × 10−3 eV/grad. Hensel","doi":"10.1002/PSSB.19670240216","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1002/PSSB.19670240216","url":null,"abstract":"By conductivity measurements of Ca doped KCl crystals between 20 and 90 °C it is shown that the conductivity isotherms may be described by the association theory only for small Ca concentrations below 6 × 10−5 mole fraction Ca/KCl. The effect of the OH ions is given here in terms of characteristic deviations. For higher Ca concentrations the shape of the conductivity isotherms depends on the history of the crystals. By investigations of crystals with suitable thermal pretreatment it is shown that the shape of the isotherms, and especially the slow temporal decrease of the conductivity of quenched specimens, may be explained by precipitation processes of the Ca ions. \u0000 \u0000 \u0000 \u0000An Messungen der Leitfahigkeit Ca-dotierter KCl-Kristalle zwischen 20 and 90 °C wird gezeigt, das sich nur im Bereich kleiner Ca-Konzentrationen bis zu etwa 6 × 10−5 Molanteilen Ca/KCl die Leitfahigkeitsisothermen gemas der Assoziationstheorie beschreiben lassen. Durch OH-Ionen bedingte Abweichungen machen sich hier in charakteristischer Weise bemerkbar. Bei groseren Ca-Gehalten hangt der Verlauf der Leitfahigkeitsisothermen von der Vorgeschichte der Kristalle ab. It is shown that the sensitizing is mainly due to the creation of slow sensitizing r-centres of recombination with parameters identical to those of recombination centres in naturally photoconductive crystals. The energy band structure calculated by Kane is used. For simplicity, the drifted Maxwellian approach is used and its form for an arbitrary band structure presented. No intrinsic breakdown is obtained. On the contrary, the model gives a voltage-controlled differential negative mobility for high fields.
