The study applies to a mixed methodology, although the production of data and analysis of qualitative data predominates. A questionnaire was administered to the entire female prison population that wanted to participate, and in-depth interviews and discussion groups were conducted with users of prisons in Catalonia and with prison professionals. The results show the presence of polyvictimized female prisoners and that this violence sometimes motivates the criminal activity for which they are serving their sentences.</p>","PeriodicalId":23606,"journal":{"name":"Violence Against Women","volume":" ","pages":"10778012251366240"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2025-08-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144822737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using data from a four-arm cluster randomized control trial of the Reaching Married Adolescents in Niger (RMA) intervention (2016-2019), this study assesses effects on gender norms among husbands of married adolescent girls (<i>n</i> = 1,055). Using an adjusted hierarchical difference-in-differences model, we found assignment to the RMA small groups intervention to be associated with a 0.62 decrease in inequitable gender norms (95% CI: -1.05, -0.18). Focusing on decision-making, mobility, and awareness, it highlights significant regional disparities and explores the association between intimate partner violence (IPV) and disempowerment. While overall disempowerment declined over time, women facing IPV, especially in central and eastern regions, remain disproportionately affected. The findings emphasize that regional context and IPV are critical factors influencing empowerment. Efforts focused solely on education and employment may fall short unless IPV is addressed, underscoring the need for region-sensitive, violence-informed policy interventions.</p>","PeriodicalId":23606,"journal":{"name":"Violence Against Women","volume":" ","pages":"10778012251366231"},"PeriodicalIF":1.7,"publicationDate":"2025-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"144817621","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"社会学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Participants engaged with nine MR scenario vignettes, varying in perpetrator justification (no justification, sexual deprivation, jealousy) and victim resistance (passive, verbal, verbal, and physical). Results from nine 3 × 3 factorial ANOVAs revealed significant effects of justification type and resistance level on perception of MR. Using interpretative phenomenological analysis, we identified three main themes in the transcripts: (1) interpersonal violence preceding sex work; (2) interpersonal violence after entering sex work; and (3) structural violence against sex workers. Breaking down their life trajectories into three phases-before, during, and after migration, we show how these elements intertwine, and even mutually reinforce one another. First, women who experienced different forms of GBV in their country of origin were more likely to make a more complex migration journey. Second, long journey, requiring multiple means of transportation and crossing multiple countries, in particular Libya, considerably increase the risk. Third, migrant women in France face a high risk of GBV independently of the complexity of their migration journey.
