Populasi etnis terbesar adalah Batak yang terbagi ke beberapa sub etnis salah satunya adalah Mandailing yang berada di Kawasan Tapanuli Selatan, Sumatera bagian Tenggara. Komunitas Mandailing secara umum adalah masyarakat yang sangat peka dan peduli terhadap nilai-nilai adat di setiap rutinitas kehidupan. Adapun yang menjadi latar belakang topik kajian ini adalah sebuah tradisi lisan di tengah komunitas masyarakat Mandailing yang disebut dengan martahi. Sebuah prosesi adat yang dilaksanakan ketika ada masyarakat yang akan melaksanakan horja atau pesta yang biasa disebut Suhut, maka seluruh anggota keluarga akan bermusyawarah kepada para tetua adat menyampaikan maksud sekaligus meminta bantuan untuk kemudian disampaikan kepada masyarakat. Pelaksanaan martahi adalah sebelum dilaksanakannya upacara perkawinan sebagai bagian dari persiapan horja. Martahi menjadi momen yang sangat penting dalam pernikahan masyarakat Mandailing ketika ingin menikahkan anaknya. Martahi sebagai tradisi musyawarah dan tolong menolong bertujuan untuk mendapatkan bantuan untuk kebutuhan acara pernikahan. Dalam pelaksanaan martahi, suhut akan mengundang kerabat dan masyarakat desa. Sarana wacana yang akan dijadikan kajian dalam penelitian ini berasal dari teks hobar, yaitu pesan yang disampaikan secara lisan dengan cara monolog, berpidato, dan berpantun serta pesan moral yang luas dan memiliki filosofi. Pesan moral akan digali dalam penelitian ini. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat Mandailing memiliki nilai-nilai yang kuat dalam membangun komunikasi dan kerjasama. The presence of a child in the family is a complement to happiness. In welcoming this happiness, many traditional events are held in each region. In South Tapanuli, the welcome ceremony is an oral tradition that is usually carried out. This manyonggot-ngonggoti event is usually carried out by the family of the woman. Manyonggot-nyonggoti aims to provide prayers and strength for prospective mothers and their unborn babies. In this ritual, a lot of equipment is needed. Both from food and tools. All these ingredients are united in a medium called upa - upa. These food ingredients are arranged in such a way to be enjoyed by the mother-to-be and her baby-to-be. Upa - upa has the meaning of each symbol. These symbols of food ingredients have their own meaning to be given to the mother-to-be and her baby. Some symbols of food ingredients in this ceremony are eggs, goldfish, salt and many others. To find out the meaning of each symbol, a semiotic analysis was carried out. This research is a research on the development of the Borg and Gall model (2003). The stages carried out include preliminary studies, drafting, expert and user assessments, and field tests. Assessments from experts and users indicate that the teaching materials for writing negotiation texts meet the eligibility criteria. The feasibility assessment focused on four components, namely content, language, presentation, and graphics with an average percentage of 88.5%. Effectiveness is based on the value of the results of field trials with reference to the minimum completeness criteria (KKM) for writing negotiation texts, which is 70. The value of the results of field trials reaches an average of 82.77 with classical school completeness. The selection of the problem based learning model in this study was based on the idea that the problem based learning model could stimulate students' enthusiasm to be actively involved in their learning experience. The problem-based learning model requires students to think, understand and find the steps that must be taken correctly in writing procedure texts. The results of the research that have been explained that between X1 and X2 obtained from the work of students writing procedural texts from class XI-1, totaling 35 students, obtained a satisfactory assessment or there was an influence that occurred in the learning process. In the learning process at the first meeting, students still used the lecture method with a total score of 2,354 while using the problem based learning model, the students got an overall score of 2,842, in this case there were differences in the process or results in learning to write students' explanatory texts. After getting the overall results, as explained in the description of the research results and hypothesis testing using the steps or formulas used and obtaining the overall value, n = 35 and = 0.05, then the t = 1.692 value is obtained. Because tcount > t table or 33.54 > 1.692 then Ho is rejected. The respondents were some material experts and design experts as validators of module teaching materials and LKPD. The research method used 4-D Research and Development by Thiagarajan which consists of four stages, namely define, design, development, and desseminition. This study was limited to development stage due to the pandemic situation so it cannot be carried out for the dissemination stage (desseminition). The material experts response to the developed teaching materials and LKPD modules gave an average score with the overall material aspect as 88.66% or \"very satisfactory\"; which means the product is feasible and valid to be tested in small groups and large groups, thus the material can be a prototype module and LKPD.
