We consider simultaneous diffractions of light by two lobes of sound radiation pattern in an acousto-optic modulator which is built on SiO 2 single crystal and has two-element phased-array transducer with the fixed phase shift  . Implementation of this diffraction type greatly improves power efficiency of the device. Transducer shaping is used to steer the lobes and satisfy the Bragg’s conditions for simultaneous acousto-optic diffractions. The conditions of the diffraction are defined and a mathematical model for calculating diffraction efficiency is suggested. It is shown that a parallel diffraction regime is almost three times more energy-efficient than a serial regime. Several configurations of transducer elements’ shape are analyzed. In particular, changes in the dimensions of diamond-shaped elements are shown to allow adjusting the operating frequency within 23%. Gold-nanorod arrays of a quasi-hexagonal shape are successfully obtained with electrochemical deposition method and their optical properties are investigated. The optical response of a two-layer structure, in which the first layer is a nanocomposite consisting of Au nanorods and the second one is a thin indium tin oxide film on a glass substrate, has been analyzed. Dependences of absorption cross-section of Au nanorods on the light wavelength at different eccentricities are modelled using electrostatic approximation. It is shown that longitudinal plasmon resonance prevails over other resonances for the Au nanorods deposited on glass substrates. A Maxwell−Garnett theory and a matrix method are used to predict the optical characteristics of the whole structure. We have demonstrated that it is possible to estimate the concentration of nanorods on the surface using the appropriate simulation results. In addition, efficient absorption properties can be obtained at a given wavelength by changing the geometry of nanorods. We study the crystalline structure and absorption spectra for the zinc oxide films with different levels of yttrium doping. The films are deposited on glass substrates, using radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. We estimate the concentration of free charge carriers and show that the ‘blue’ shift of the fundamental absorption edge in ZnO:Y films with increasing doping level (up to 4.7 wt. %) is explained by Burstein–Moss effect. These are a unified Riccati equation, our new mapping scheme and our addendum to the common N. A. Kudryashov’s method. All of the solitons are enlisted and the criterions of their existence are mentioned. We study electroluminescence and impedance properties of a double-type white organic light-emitting device (WOLED) based on phosphorescent and thermally activated delayed fluorescence emissions in a single heterostructure. Current–voltage characteristics of the WOLED and impedance spectroscopy data are obtained for the layered and composite-layer devices. These results demonstrate that a combination of layer-based and composite-based technologies in a single heterostructure improves both the efficiency and the stability of WOLED heterostructures. Light-emission performance of the WOLED is also studied. The device reveals very good electroluminescence properties and colour coordinates as a white light source. Ag 6 PS 5 I single crystals are grown from solution–melt by means of a vertical zone crystallization method. Dispersion of the refractive index of Ag 6 PS 5 I measured with a spectral ellipsometry technique is described by a known Wemple– DiDomenico relation. The fundamental absorption edge for the Ag 6 PS 5 I crystals is studied in the temperature range 77–300 K. The temperature dependences of the optical pseudogap and the Urbach energy are analyzed in the framework of Einstein model. The parameters of electron–phonon interaction, which results in the Urbach behaviour of the fundamental absorption edge, are determined. We demonstrate experimentally that acousto-optic diffraction by a shear acoustic wave propagating in fused silica can transform linear or circular polarization states into their orthogonal counterparts. It is also shown that a corresponding acousto-optic cell with a shear acoustic wave propagating in a vitreous medium can be used as a NOT or CNOT gate.
