We report on polarimetric studies for the diffracted light originated from acousto-optic (AO) diffraction at a longitudinal acoustic wave. A particular case of intermediate Bragg–Raman–Nath diffraction regime in fused silica is considered. We find that for the incident circularly polarized optical waves the ellipticity of the diffracted wave is determined by the ratio of elasto-optic coefficients p 11 and p 12 , while for the incident linearly polarized waves this ratio is determined by the azimuth of diffracted wave. The ratio of coefficients determined in this way agrees well with the literature data. We detect a small deviation from linear polarization for the diffracted optical waves under condition when the incident waves are linearly polarized. Experimental vibrational (Raman and IR-absorption) spectra are obtained for microcrystalline powder of quercetin in the spectral range of 400−1800 cm −1 at the room temperature. Optimized geometries of two stable isomers of quercetin molecule are calculated with a density-functional method at the level CAM B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p). The isomers have an almost planar frame structure and differ by mirror orientations of one of the rings with respect to the other rings. Vibrational spectra of the isomers are calculated in harmonic approximation at the same level of theory. The scaling factors determined experimentally for each of the two isomers have been used when comparing the calculated and experimental data. The vibrational spectra are interpreted in the whole frequency range under test. In the process of low-light imaging, some part of useful information of an image is overwhelmed by a noise. When interference is large, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) detected in a system is reduced to a very low level. We study the low-light imaging under condition when the detection SNR is equal to 1 dB. Taking into account that the noise is often located in the high-frequency spectral part, we use discrete cosine transform (DCT) to remove the noise or, at least, filter out its some part. Then we use an algorithm of conditional generative adversarial network (CGAN) to improve the image quality. The simulation results testify that the DCT and CGAN algorithms combined together improve significantly the restoration results and the final quality of images. We present the results of X-ray diffraction studies for undoped and Fe-doped single crystals of lead iodide in the concentration range 0.01–0.25 at. %. PbI 2 and PbI 2 :Fe crystals are obtained by crystallization from a vapour phase in a closed system under over-stoichiometric iodine-vapour pressure. Morphology of the crystals has been analyzed by a scanning electron microscopy.
