The exposure time of structures to environmental variations is important because the presence of humidity is affecting wooden elements the most. Their exposure to humid surroundings or in which temperature and humidity variations are not constant, increases the moisture content of wood and leads to the formation of biological environments that attack the wood and reduce its resistance, intervening in the building safety and utility. In this research, using statistical methods and binary logistic regression model, we have addressed to analyze important parameters such as age, gender, education level, the color of the pedestrian dress, season of accident, time of accident, the speed of the vehicle colliding with pedestrians and road surface conditions at the time of accident on the way of death (at the scene of the incident or in the hospital) pedestrians who have been traumatized. After the creation of the binary logistic regression model, it was determined that only the parameters of speed and the accident time have been significant in the level less than 5%. And other parameters such as age, gender, the season of accident occurrence, the color of the pedestrian dress, road surface conditions and education level had no significant effect in terms of statistical on the incidence of mortality arising from a pedestrian accident with the motor vehicle. However, its quantification is essential for the design of structures and various methods can be applied to the identification of this phenomenon. Some, such as mineralogical identification and direct measurements of swelling, are more or less long and require very specific equipment. However, there are other methods that offer the advantage of being relatively fast and lesser expensive: they are based on soil mechanics parameters. Using these parameters, several authors have introduced soil swelling prediction models, mostly in the form of classifications and empirical formulas. This work concerns in the first part the identification and classification of the swelling potential of two clays located in north-western Algeria. Followed by a statistical analysis carried out to test the reliability of the observations for the estimation of the pressure and the swelling amplitude using a multiple linear regression. A second part is devoted to the development of a prediction method by artificial neural networks allowing the estimation of swelling parameters (pressure and amplitude) by minimizing the difference between the experimental measurements and the numerical results. Modeling by artificial neural networks is of great interest in the field of prediction. The influences of the environmental conditions like temperature, relative humidity, wind, rain are constantly changing wood properties. The paper presents the different types of water that are found in a wooden piece together with experimental results on the displacement of double-shear wooden connections with wooden dowels that have been modified in two pre-established environments. The moisture content has been changed from 12% natural moisture of wood in normal building conditions to 8% and 16% for wood that is found in different climatic conditions. The simulation is conducted with the Fire Dynamics Simulator, a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tool and the simulations are performed on a threedimensional model of the parking. Multiple parameters and factors are taken into account in this complex assessment, such as geometry data, ventilation openings (both mechanical and natural), fire detection and fire suppression details. The output of the case study is represented by a large array of data: the time for sprinkler activation, maximum temperatures, smoke flow and overall fire evolution. In this paper, a state space formulation of the equation of motion is used in a MATLAB code. The pounding forces are calculated using nonlinear viscoelastic impact element. The numerical study is performed on SDOF structures subjected by 1940 EL-Centro and 1977 Vrancea N-S recording. While most of the studies available in the literature are related to Newmark implicit time integration method, in this study the equations of motion in state space form are direct integrated. The time domain is chosen instead of the complex one in order to catch the nonlinear behavior of the structures. The physical nonlinear behavior of the structures is modeled according to the Force Analogy Method. The coupling of the Force Analogy Method with the state space approach conducts to an explicit time integration method. Consequently, the collision is easily checked and the pounding forces are taken into account into the equation of motion in an easier manner than in an implicit integration method. The formula expresses the equilibrium scour depth as a function of variables including flow depth and mean velocity, critical flow velocity, median grain size and pier diameter. The empirical formula is developed by training and testing an evolutionary network using scour data available in the literature. The use of the evolutionary algorithm in developing the formula is informed by the need to reduce the model complexity while sacrificing its predictive accuracy. High-rate tube settlers are one of the practical solutions for the development of treatment plants, especially sedimentation tanks, lamella systems can be used instead of conventional sedimentation basins or for upgrade and increase their capacity and efficiency. In addition to their high efficiency, they require much less space compared to conventional sedimentation tanks. The current study was developed to evaluate the performance of the tube settler and the effect of the inclination of tube settler on the effluent quality. In the practical experiments, tube settler unit consisting of four separate circular tubes of 27 mm inner diameter, with a length of 150 cm each were used at different inclination angles of 48, 54 and 60 degrees. This paper presents the water budget in Văcărești wetland in order to provide an overview of the hydrological processes that make wetlands unique. Văcărești wetland is located in south part of Bucharest city and represents the single urban Natural Park in Romania. The existing wetland has been formed on an area conceived initially as the bottom of an artificial lake where the nature and the wildlife developed on their own. Using historical data and several algorithms, this paper presents the analysis of the water budget on the considered area which would lead to a better assessment of the hydrological processes. The study adopted a stress based formulation of the elasticity problem. Fourier transformation of the biharmonic stress compatibility equation was done to obtain bounded stress functions for the elastic half plane problem. Stresses and boundary conditions expressed in terms of the Boussinesq-Papkovich potential functions were transformed using Fourier sine transforms. Boundary conditions were used to obtain the unknown constants of the stress functions for the Cerrutti problem considered; and the complete determination of the stress fields in the Fourier transform space. Inversion of the Fourier sine transforms for the stresses yielded the general expressions for the stresses in the physical domain space variables. The strain fields were obtained from the kinematic relations. The displacement fields were obtained by integration of the strain-displacement relations.
