The proposed joint loss function incorporates both the modified CGAN loss and the penalty loss where this strategy significantly improves performance of defect detection. The results show that the proposed method can better capture the defect features to improve the detection accuracy. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, experimental studies have been carried out for inner debond defects on both regular and irregular shaped CFRP specimens. A comparative analysis has been undertaken between the proposed method and the state-of-the-art deep semantic segmentation algorithms. It is being proved to be suitable for the end-to-end detection Thermography diagnosis system.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121338215","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes a novel yoke structured eddy current pulsed thermography (ECPT) system for micro fatigue cracks inspection on irregularly shaped metallic materials. The proposed detection model provides a region of interest with a relatively uniform magnetic field. The detectability and thermal contrast of omnidirectional micro fatigue cracks are enhanced remarkably. In addition, the configuration has advantages of dramatically increasing portability and efficiency for detecting complex workpiece since the detection is completely in the open view of the infrared camera. Finally, experimental studies have been conducted on natural fatigue cracks in order to validate the reliability and efficiency of the proposed sensing structure.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134214188","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can provide early stage detection of failure and useful information for component integrity evaluation. The Full Matrix Capture (FMC) can achieve the maxim data from an ultrasonic array and the Total Focusing Method (TFM) is used for imaging. As a powerful method for crack characterisation, machined slots are usually used to examine and assess FMC/TFM methodology. In this paper, real SBCs are fabricated in 3-point bending specimens following ASTM standard E1820 and used to examine the performance of this ultrasonic imaging method. This approach is shown to work well in imaging and sizing of real fatigue cracks.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116352748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The microscopic processes of crack initiation, propagation and failure of C/SiC composites with circular hole were directly observed under tensile load. The results show that the method proposed in this paper can be used to analyze and visualize crack initiation and propagation. The crack propagation of C/SiC composites is diverse when the material fails, and the morphology of the internal cracks observed in the micro- CT images is different from the surface cracks observed in the SEM images. The macroscopic holes of the C/SiC material and the boundary of the SiC matrix aggregate region often become the crack initiation of the specimen, and the main crack which eventually causes the failure of specimen is located in the preset macroscopic hole region. Through the method proposed in this paper, the micro-structure images of the specimen in the elastic deformation stage, micro-crack propagation stage and failure stage can be obtained, which correspond to the characteristics of the linear stage, curve stage and fluctuation stage of the load-displacement curve respectively. The microscopic observation method combined with micro-CT and SEM is important and useful to the study of the failure evolution mechanism of C/SiC composite materials.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128578545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Conventional methods based on computer vision are insufficient in achieving this task by using template matching, the main reason is that it is difficult to extract image features, especially for the images of high-speed trains whose image edges are difficult to detect. In this paper, deep learning is introduced to key component detection. Deep learning method is not suitable when samples are rare, and as for our task, there are few abnormal samples because key component rarely become abnormal. However, abnormal detection can be transformed to the problem of bolt detection; it will be abnormal if bolts are lost. From this paper, Faster R-CNN and YOLO are adopted to detect bolts. Considering the purpose of the abnormal detection of bolts is to confirm whether the bolts are lost, and the location information of bolts contained in the extracted information of target detection is redundant. Therefore, a bolt number detection network based on ResNet is proposed to examine how many bolts on the key component. The number of bolts determine whether the bolts are lost. It shows that, this bolt number detection network achieves the task well.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115925105","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Once there is an explosion, the damage is enormous. Therefore, higher and higher requirements are put forward for the accuracy and speed of pipeline damage detection. In order to improve the detection accuracy and speed of pipeline, a method of ultrasonic ring guided wave detection with air coupling excitation is proposed. In order to facilitate the realization of intelligent internal detection of gas pipelines, we designed an optimized linear focusing high-sensitivity air coupling sensor, studied it from both numerical simulation and experiment, and designed an internal detection system of gas pipelines, providing a theoretical basis for the development of ultrasonic internal detection technology of gas pipelines. The results show that the signal-to-noise ratio of the optimized linear focusing air-coupled ultrasonic sensor is improved.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126793297","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both time reversal with multiple signal classification (TR-MUSIC) and phase-coherent multiple signal classification (PC-MUSIC), the two typical time reversal based imaging methods, have been introduced to obtain the ultrasonic image by post-processing the pulse-echo signals belonging to the ultrasonic array data. Experimental system has been designed and built to capture the real ultrasonic array data via full matrix capture (FMC) process from the test sample. The experiment was implemented on a block of Al with Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) line, which can be considered as the extended target. The experimental results show that PC-MUSIC over the given frequency range can provide the shape and size of the extended target, however, TR-MUSIC fails. In addition, the various dimensions of signal subspace are chosen, and its effect on the imaging result has been studied.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129716472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is prone to cracks, especially surface cracks which can significantly undermine the quality of disk, resulting in fatigue fracture and thereby catastrophic failures. In this paper, eddy current testing (ECT) of surface cracks was investigated through simulations based on CIVA and experiments. The ECT probes in different configurations and parameters were modelled and impedance curves were computed. The parameter and structure of probe was determined by analyzing the signal decay rate and defect resolution. Following this, experimental investigation was carried out to verify the simulation results. It could be found that experimental results matched well with simulation results and the probe designed via simulations was applicable. The related results from both simulations and experiments are supportive of ECT of surface cracks on GH4169 turbine disk.","PeriodicalId":232572,"journal":{"name":"2019 Far East NDT New Technology & Application Forum (FENDT)","volume":"2014 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127432338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
