It includes the removal of organic and inorganic soils coming from forming applications or those created during welding and joining. Cleaning and degreasing are required to achieve the highest finished part quality and first pass yield during production. Poor removal of soils from the fabrication process can lead to a variety of quality issues. The main concerns for final part quality relate to paint adhesion, corrosion resistance or fluid resistance. Improper bonding of the paint to the base material compromises quality leading to premature part failure. With a lower first pass yield, rework costs will increase, and profitability will decrease. Additionally, a higher defect rate, requiring rework, can generate inefficiencies or bottlenecks that slow production throughput.","PeriodicalId":23251,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the IMF","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85700937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To mimic the non-stoichiometric hydroxyapatite of bone or add positive features to it, different cationic and anionic substitutions have been studied. In this study, the nanocomposite coating of strontium (Sr) and silver (Ag) substituted HAp was deposited on a rarely investigated β type titanium alloy with low Young’s modulus to investigate its morphological and chemical features, crystallographic structure, thickness, biocompatibility, and hydrophilicity. The coating was deposited via a little reported electrochemical method which has the advantages of both electrolytic and electrophoretic deposition. The process is simple and can be conducted under mild experimental conditions to prevent potential high-temperature induced-thermal stress complications. The chemical, morphological and crystallographic features were characterised using EDAX, FE-SEM, and XRD analysis. The coating thickness was measured using a profilometry test. The biocompatibility and wetting behaviour were evaluated by MTT assay and the sessile drop technique, respectively. The coatings have shown rod-shaped, homogenous, and nano-sized HAp particles, with a close Ca/P ratio to stoichiometric apatite; meanwhile, Sr and Ag nanosphere particles are capable of modifying its surface. The coating can support cell growth and proliferation and shows a superhydrophilic surface.","PeriodicalId":23251,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the IMF","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79027185","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

During multi-scan cyclic voltammetry at −1 V ∼ 0.5 V at 80°C, the shiny side of electrolytic copper foil was subjected to zinc deposition, zinc–copper interdiffusion (alloying), and zinc dissolution (de-alloying) processes. After 21 CV cycles (315 s), small islands with a height range of 0.5∼2 μm and irregular voids formed on the matte side of the copper foil. The prepared copper foil had a specific surface area of 2.39 m2 g−1 as measured by N2 adsorption and desorption, which is greater than that of commercial copper foil with a matte side. When the copper foil was laminated as CCL, the prepared CCL had an average peel strength of 1.92 N mm−1, indicating that this route could be used for high-performance CCLs.","PeriodicalId":23251,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the IMF","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79505997","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Binary and ternary alloys were electrodeposited from sulphate baths without additives at room temperature. The elementary analysis of the alloys determined by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) confirms the induced deposition type of the P with Ni and Co; where the P content depends strongly on the operational conditions. Morphological investigation conducted by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that the addition of P has a smoothing effect on the Ni-based deposits and a magnification effect on the Co-based deposits. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis reveals that the deposits have a crystalline structure for deposits with low P content (< 11 wt-%) and amorphous structure for deposits with high P content. The incorporation of P atoms into the deposits has significantly improved their corrosion resistance according to the corrosion parameters determined by Tafel plot analysis.","PeriodicalId":23251,"journal":{"name":"Transactions of the IMF","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75768250","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
