Although they are often asymptomatic with a stationary course, eventual complications may occur. Herein, we report the case of a 9-year-old boy who developed bilateral papilloedema secondary to spontaneous rupture of an AC in the left middle cranial fossa. Although the papilloedema worsened during follow-up, his visual field remained bilaterally stable, supporting the expectant management and obviating the potential morbidity associated with neurosurgical intervention. In this study, manufacturing technology and statistical methods were used together to produce low-cost and high-quality products at the optimum sintering temperature and sintering time. Physio-mechanical properties of ceramic tiles manufactured on the industrial scale were optimized using Central Composite Design of Response Surface Method. The regression coefficients of the obtained models (R 2) were evaluated according to the variance analysis (95% confidence level) results and determined as 97.70% for flexural strength, 98.50% for water absorption, and 97.90% for fired shrinkage. The standard deviation of flexural strength, water absorption, and firing shrinkage values, calculated according to the theoretical results, were 1.397%, 0.00265% and 0.0255%, respectively. The samples with desired physical properties were obtained with the developed models by examining the interactions of variables at the industrial conditions. It aimed to investigate the effects of the composition and content of rare earth oxide additives on densification, microstructural development, and mechanical properties of α/β-silicon nitride ceramics via XRD and SEM analyses, temperature and displacement curves obtained through spark plasma sintering and mechanical tests. Addition to 2 wt% Y2O3 as an additive into composition resulted in high relative density (98%), hardness (14.9 GPa), and fracture toughness (9.8 M Pa.m1/2). The use of Dy2O3 instead of Y2O3 decreased β-Si3N4 phase ratio and densification rate. This behavior continued further with Eu2O3 addition. The increment of Y2O3 content to 8 wt% provided the same relative density and fracture toughness (98% and 9.8 M Pa.m1/2), whereas hardness was reduced to 12.6 GPa. As a result, densification was achieved only by Y2O3 addition regardless of additive content, and both high hardness and fracture toughness were obtained using only 2 wt% Y2O3 as a single additive. However, substantial challenges of efficient up-concentrating of biomass act as a bottleneck in large scale production of biofuel. The study is aimed towards unravelling the obstacles encountered during dewatering of biomass from mixed-microalgae consortia using ceramic membrane based process with varying pore sizes in the microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) range. For clay and alumina based MF membrane, 1.2 µm pore size (average) and for alumina supported nano-alumina coated UF membrane, ∼0.01 µm pore size (average) was used. The effect of various recirculation parameters was studied for process optimization. Resistance-in-series model was employed for analyzing fouling behavior of the membranes. MF membrane was observed to have better harvesting efficiency than the UF counterpart in terms of productivity (124.41). Optimum permeate flux of microalgal suspension was found to be 315.29 L.m−2.h−1 for MF membrane. Regeneration of membranes by air assisted backpulsing process showed up to 97.71% of flux recovery for MF membrane. Volume reduction factor/ membrane area (371) was found to be considerably high compared to various reported studies. The study highlighted efficient harvesting of microalgae using indigenously developed ceramic MF membrane integrated filtration towards cost-effective production of biofuel. The 2 wt% CuO doped sintered alumina has shown the best performance towards wearing due to maximum bulk density, hardness and fracture toughness. These materialistic properties are fitted to correlate with the lowest value of entropy and edge density index at the level of 2 wt% doping. The entropy filtered image histogram of 2 wt% doping is the closest to the Gaussian Bell shape distribution with the lowest skewness factor. These three-image computed methods validate their suitability in developing a real-life implementation for a possible wear resistance estimator. A glass comprising (wt%) Cs2O(30)-SiO2(35)-Na2O(7)-SnO2(4)-Z nO(24) was prepared in a conventional heating furnace. A novel method was developed adopting gravimetric analysis of cesium content in the glass samples using Dragendorff’s reagent, leading to formation of Cs3Bi2I9 crystal (salt). Experimental methods were examined to purify the salt. Qualitative analysis was performed on Cs3Bi2I9 crystal with FESEM-EDX and XRD. Up to ∼93% pure Cs3Bi2I9 could be synthesized. Quantitative studies were performed with standard cesium solution prepared with Cs2CO3 with varying compositions of cesium within 1000 to 3000 ppm. Weight of salt produced was concluded to be strongly related to the cesium content present in the glass solution. In the first step, Co3O4 nanoparticles were obtained by facile microwave assisted hydrothermal method. In the second step, the as-sy nthesiz ed Co 3O4 nanoparticles were transformed into LiCoO2 nanoparticles through solid-state reaction method. Olivine LiFePO4 with spindle like microstructure was prepared by rapid microwave assisted hydrothermal method within short time at 140°C. The synthesized samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM ) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX). The XRD reflection peaks revealed that the synthesized LiCoO2 belongs to R-3m space group with hexagonal crystal structure. No impurity phase of Co3O4 was detected in LiCoO2 after calcination at 750°C for 1 h. Powder XRD results also authenticated the formation of LiFePO4 phase with orthorhombic crystal structure. FTIR analysis revealed the structural co-ordination of the prepared L iF ePO4 particles. SEM analysis showed the formation of monodispersed LiCoO2 nanoparticles with spherical particle morphology. For LiFePO4, SEM analysis revealed the formation of porous spindle like microstructure, composed of densely packed secondary nanoflakes. Further, EDX spectra of the samples confirmed the presence of corresponding elements in the synthesized samples. In this paper, titania extrudates were prepared from industrial raw material by an extrusion method and then calcined at different temperatures. Results show that there are nanostructures with anatase phase from 450o to 850oC because the presence of SO4 2– delays the formation of rutile nucleation up to 950oC,and the morphology is irregular and smooth at 950oC. The SO4 2– ions and crystallinegrowth affect the properties of titania extrudates at various calcination temperatures. At temperatures below 650oC, the effect of SO4 2–removal is more than the effect of crystalline growth on the properties of the extrudates. But at temperatures above 650oC, the effect of crystal growth is dominant because of mobility of atoms, although more sulfate ions are exited. It decreases open pore volume and increases strength and attrition resistance.
