To boost the use of FBAR resonators to higher frequencies, we demonstrate an oscillator that uses an overtone frequency of the FBAR. A 7GHz oscillator is built on a PCB using a commercial pHEMT transistor as an active element and surface mounted passive components. The FBAR is wire bonded to the PCB. The measured phase noise of −110dBc/Hz at 1MHz offset. The developed duplexer has an isolation higher than 70 dB, which enables cellular transceiver RFICs to meet stringent linearity requirements without inter-stage SAW filters and sophisticated linearization techniques. The authors call such a highly isolated duplexer “super-isolation duplexer”. Relative permittivity and loss tangent are computed from S-parameter measurements and analytical equations. The analytical computation is either direct by using equations derived from Bahl formulas, or iterative by using Jensen-Hammerstad formulas coupled with the efficient secant algorithm. Thin film microstrip transmission lines have been fabricated for the extraction of dielectric electrical properties of SU-8 resin. A relative dielectric constant of 2.85 and a loss tangent of 0.04 were determined. These values are used in an EM simulator for the design of an SU-8 based High-Q inductor implemented on a low resistivity silicon substrate. Transition is designed to operate around 60 GHz and is used to feed the 16 elements microstrip antenna array. Transition includes waveguide to stripline transition, stripline to embedded microstrip line transition, and finally embedded microstrip line to microstrip line transition. Return loss characteristics for single transitions are presented. For the assembled complex transition 10-dB return loss bandwidth is from 52 GHz up to 75 GHz. System with antenna array and feed line has gain more then 17 dB. The presented procedure is able to retrieve both the dielectric permittivity and electric conductivity of arbitrarily shaped targets embedded in inhomogeneous backgrounds and so it is an useful tool for diagnostics in several scenarios. Significant size reduction is achieved using the proposed configurations. Two 3-dB wide-band couplers designed and simulated at 2 GHz. More than 50% areas saving and larger than 50% fractional bandwidth have been achieved. The wide-band couplers were fabricated on RF-Duroid dielectric substrate with permittivity of 2.2 and 1.57 mm thickness. In this framework, the main challenges are the detection of targets located on the other side of a wall and the monitoring of their motion. To pursue these aims, we propose an imaging strategy based on the Linear Sampling Method (LSM), a computationally effective tool to determine the targets' morphology from multiview, multistatic and monochromatic data. In particular, by relying on the physical interpretation of LSM, we give its formulation for TWI and propose its use for motion tracking purposes by means of a simple post-processing strategy. For many practical array and multiport antenna designs it is essential to examine the farfield for a general port excitation or termination scenario. Some examples are phased array designs, problems related to mutual coupling and scan blindness, tuning of parasitic elements, MIMO antennas and correlation. The proposed method fully characterizes the nearfield and the farfield of the antenna, so to compute farfield patterns by means of superposition for any voltage/current state at the port terminals. The transponder components have been designed and analysed using a full wave electromagnetic solver as well as with measurements using a vector network analyzer and in an anechoic chamber. The novel transponder consists of a linearly polarized UWB circular monopole antenna coupled to an orthogonally polarized novel dual multi-resonant dipole antenna. The dual multi-resonant loop antenna has a gain of over 5 dB for all resonances and creates a frequency signature in the orthogonal polarization of the interrogation signal.
