From experimental results, the bias tracking leads to an average efficiency improvement from 30.6% to 43.6% considering 12dB of input power back-off, with respect to the same power amplifier with fixed bias point. In both cases the same behaviour for output power, which reaches 40.4 dBm, and a constant gain (12.4 dB) has been observed.","PeriodicalId":232128,"journal":{"name":"2009 European Microwave Conference (EuMC)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125412951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We present the incoherent transmission line matrix (ITLM) approach which allows discretization intervals in the order of the wavelength or even larger. This is achieved by frequency averaging of the computed energy densities and neglecting interference phenomena. This results in an approximation comparable to geometrical optics. In complex environments the ITLM method requires less numerical effort than ray tracing. The paper discusses the theoretical foundations as well as a validation of the method by solving a benchmark problem and, as a practical application, by modelling the propoagation of a radar signal in an automobile production hall.","PeriodicalId":232128,"journal":{"name":"2009 European Microwave Conference (EuMC)","volume":"187 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116144878","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The measurement system and model extraction process is presented together with the results and an analysis of the effect of parameter variations in a digitally predistorted system. A load-pull system is used together with a digital baseband model extraction system to identify the impact on modelling performance. The results show that the model performance varies greatly with in-band reflection magnitude and phase on the amplifier output. It is also shown that a digital predistortion based on a model extracted at matched conditions, where it gives an excellent improvement of 20 dB in adjacent channel leakage ratio (ACLR), gives a poor improvement of 7 dB for miss-matched conditions with as low reflections as Γ=0.2 (return loss 14 dB). This indicates that in-band reflections need to be considered and adaptive predistortion used also for low VSWR system like base-stations for telecommunication.","PeriodicalId":232128,"journal":{"name":"2009 European Microwave Conference (EuMC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122334461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The radial distribution of the vertical MF is expressed in closed-form as a linear combination of Hankel functions. The field strength versus induction number is calculated assuming a two-layer earth model. It is demonstrated that in double-or triple-layered configurations, coupling values between 10 dB and 25 dB can be achieved over almost an entire waveguide band. It investigates how the performance of passive circuit elements is influenced by the bends. For this purpose, four common types of transmission lines and a band-pass filter on flexible LCP substrate are analyzed concerning possible effects caused by sharp bending. Field simulation and measurements up to 67GHz show that the occurring effects are small and negligible for several broadband applications. However, bending the substrate leads to small material deformation which could shift the frequency characteristics of resonant structures in a significant manner.","PeriodicalId":232128,"journal":{"name":"2009 European Microwave Conference (EuMC)","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128475318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The ground work of our analysis is to derive first, and then solve, an integro-differential equation that gives the current on the wire antenna, at optical frequencies.
