Typical radar data matrices can occupy up to a gigabyte of space. A custom DRAM controller tailored for digital radar back ends and software-defined radars is presented. It is implemented on an FPGA and supports data buffering between the two FFT stages inside a two-dimensional spectral analysis system. In parallel, it allows the remaining part of the SDRAM to be used as a virtual FIFO buffer for the output results. Experimental tests have shown that when both pairs of the proposed memory controller’s ports are accessed simultaneously, their joint data throughput is within 10% of the gross theoretical limit for the utilized DDR3 module.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114102048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An analysis of research in the field of SDN, presented through various review and survey papers, has shown that previous research was not sufficiently focused on flexibility and programmability of the data plane in SDN. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to improve the flexibility of the data plane in SDN by increasing the programmability level of the packet-switching node. To achieve the set goal, it was necessary to choose an appropriate metric for evaluation of flexibility and programmability of the data plane. Since there is no common position on the choice of metrics, a novel metric based on qualitative criteria is proposed in this paper. An existing data plane architectures in SDN are observed through the proposed metric. In the end, a novel data plane architecture, with improved flexibility from the aspect of the qualitative metric, is proposed.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114108427","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, the challenges that exist in the action classification problems in computer vision are similar in this domain too, such as variations in illumination and background. In this work, we propose a Siamese Neural Network (SNN) architecture that is used to extract features from the RGB and the depth streams of a sign frame in parallel. We use a pretrained model for the SNN without any finetuning to our training data. We then apply global feature pooling to the depth and color features that the SNN generates and feed the concatenation of the selected features to a recurrent neural network (RNN) to discriminate the signs. We trained our model parameters with the Montalbano dataset and achieved 93.19% test accuracy with ResNet-50 and 91.61% with VGG-16 Network Models.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122389797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the basic principles of this new communication paradigm are well defined, yet the practice lacks knowledge of the difficulties related to its practical realization and usage. This paper aims at highlighting some hands-on problems and solutions when implementing a simple and yet very comprehensive and easy to use smart-home solution. Our design is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) communication with the peripheral devices and an Android central hub for coordination. The proposed solution gains the advantages provided by the Google Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), in order to provide geographical flexibility for the client’s application and networking. This paper is presenting the universal communication model of provider-consumer ICT ecosystem as a driver for energy efficiency. The system is analyzed with game theoretic approach and considers electricity market behavior of multiple players on both provider and consumer side, including the elements of variable price of production of electricity, renewable sources and bidirectional fluctuation of electricity in distributed networks. The main idea consists of the transfer of benefits of usage of the ICT energy efficiency system into investments for green energy and smart grid solution, which consequently will reduce carbon emission.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127699949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present study proposes an integrated approach for the objective assessment of mental stress which combines wirelessly connected low invasive biosensors with multivariate physiological time series analysis. In a group of 18 healthy subjects monitored in a relaxed resting state and during two experimental conditions inducing mental stress and sustained attention (respectively, mental arithmetic and serious game), we collected simultaneously multichannel EEG, one lead ECG, respiration and blood volume pulse. From these signals, synchronous physiological time series were extracted measuring the $delta$, $theta$, $alpha$, and $beta$ EEG amplitudes, the heart period, the sampled respiratory activity and the pulse arrival time. For each condition, five minute windows of each of these seven time series were characterized with measures in the time domain (mean, standard deviation) and in the information domain (self entropy, measuring time series regularity). We show that the dynamical activity of the different physiological systems is affected in a different way by the alteration of the psychophysical state of the subjects induced by stress, and that the measures in the two domains can elicit complementary information about mental stress and sustained attention. These results advocate the feasibility of connected health technology for minimally invasive, automatic classifiers of different levels of mental stress in real life scenarios.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128136013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper compares two approaches: a) one that is based on the exhaustive search and b) the multiple constraints bounded Knapsack algorithm based approach. An example of optimal mapping for multiple ADMS deployment is used to illustrate the reduction in number of physical resources needed. Also, it compares the required duration of the exhaustive search and the Knapsack algorithm execution, and illustrates the potential resource optimization depending on the overcommitment level. It is shown that virtually enabled resource sharing enables significant reduction of allocated physical resources and that the Knapsack based approach is more efficient (as compared to the exhaustive search) and can potentially lead to a fully dynamic placement and deployment reconfiguration in real-time even for a case of a large number of VMs.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132840418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each anchor has a known location and measures its distance to the target, the measurement being contaminated with additive noise. The noise vector, which contains the noise realizations across the anchors, is naturally unknown, but we assume it to be drawn from a known bounded uncertainty set.Because the noise vector is unknown, the location of the target is not uniquely defined from the available vector of measurements: uncountably many pairs of target positions and noise vectors can account for the measurements. In fact, the set of all possible target positions (consistent with the measurements) can be nonconvex and even disconnected. We consider the problem of finding a simple convex set—a rectangle—that encloses all possible target locations. We use ideas from linear-fractional representations of uncertainty (LFR) to create convex optimization problems that yield the rectangle. Numerical examples indicate that our LFR approach gives a smaller enclosing rectangle (thus, a tighter delimitation of the target) than a standard convex relaxation, for most of the randomly generated scenarios.","PeriodicalId":232097,"journal":{"name":"IEEE EUROCON 2019 -18th International Conference on Smart Technologies","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114329124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
