Ayurveda, originated in India, has a long history of treating upper respiratory disorders. Sitopaladi churn (powder) is one of the most sold “over-the-counter” herbal medicine for upper respiratory ailments cure. Quality control and validation is a hindrance for Ayurvedic product development. This study was conducted to estimate and validate for quantitative study of trans-Cinnamaldehyde in Ayurvedic medicine Sitopaladi Churna (SPC) through high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) method. The quantitative study was performed at the wavelength 294[Formula: see text]nm and validated as per ICH guidelines. The content of trans-Cinnamaldehyde in SPC was found to be 0.093%. Green HPTLC method is simple and sensitive for standardization and is validated for trans-Cinnamaldehyde in Sitopaladi powder. This method would add a different approach for quality control and assay of SPC.","PeriodicalId":23184,"journal":{"name":"Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44632444","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Standardization process conforms the identity, quality and purity of herbal drugs, which can be done by different procedures and by using sophisticated techniques. HPTLC method has advantages over other techniques due to its suitability for herbal drugs, low cost, reproducibility and it is easy to operate as well. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate career perceptions and professional plans of these students after the COVID-19 pandemic in China. A total of 372 (response rate: 93%) participants completed the survey. We observed that after the admission, students reported better comprehension of the preventive medicine major and employment prospect (dependent t-test: [Formula: see text] vs. [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text]). The overall career perceptions of undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine were positive [Formula: see text]. Especially for junior (Grades 1 and 2) students, which were more willing to recommend preventive medicine major to prospective students compared with senior (Grades 3–5) students. Junior students were also more enthusiastic about learning professional knowledge, had a stronger belief that their employment prospective would become better, and were more willing to pursue a relevant career. More than three-quarters (287, 78.85%) of the students tended to pursue graduate education, and the majority (228, 62.47%) of them preferred public institutions as future employers. With the increasing society-wide recognition of the importance of public health in epidemic prevention and control, the confidence of undergraduate students majoring in preventive medicine has been improved.","PeriodicalId":23184,"journal":{"name":"Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42929467","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The generation of acupuncture sensation, linked to a variety of receptors and nerve endings in different acupoint areas, induces nerve impulses that are transmitted to the central system through the spinal cord in different patterns. Sensory areas in the cerebral cortex are processed and transformed the impulses to form special sensations. This paper will systematically review the mechanisms of these sensations in different situations, and compare acupuncture sensations to review and analyze the mechanism of acupuncture effect.","PeriodicalId":23184,"journal":{"name":"Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47439145","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study was conducted to investigate the safety and efficacy of COOK[Formula: see text] double balloon in promoting the maturity of uterine neck, and whether COOK[Formula: see text] double balloon can improve the success rate of induced labor. Methods: A total of 343 pregnant women with full-term pregnancy in Shanghai Putuo Maternity & Infant Health Hospital from January 1st to September 30th of 2016 were enrolled. Of all the pregnant women, 166 had labor induction, which included the use of a COOK[Formula: see text] balloon, the implementation of artificial rupture of membranes (AROM) and oxytocin intravenous (IV) drip (COOK[Formula: see text] group). The other 177 pregnant women with spontaneous rupture of membranes (SROM) and mature cervix only were administrated with oxytocin IV drip to promote regular uterus contraction (oxytocin group). Maternal adverse reactions, mode of delivery and delivery outcomes of two groups were subsequently compared between the two groups. Results: There were significant differences of maternal age ([Formula: see text] versus [Formula: see text] years, [Formula: see text]), gestational age ([Formula: see text] versus [Formula: see text] years, [Formula: see text]) and birth weight ([Formula: see text] versus [Formula: see text][Formula: see text]g, [Formula: see text]) between the COOK[Formula: see text] group and the oxytocin group. There were no significant differences in terms of gravidity, parity, mode of delivery, analgesia, 1 min and 5 min Apgar score, labor time, postpartum hemorrhage, and adverse events. Conclusion: Use of a COOK[Formula: see text] balloon may help in full-term pregnancy for women with immature cervix and to obtain the same pregnancy results as those with mature cervix, without extra occurrence of adverse events.","PeriodicalId":23184,"journal":{"name":"Traditional Medicine and Modern Medicine","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43103894","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
