Phraseological units are relatively stable word-groups with their own meaning. They have various features such as polylexicality, reproductivity and idiomaticity respectively transfer of the meaning. One of the reasons why they are important for the language is that they express human experience and externalize the culture of the Slovak language. The nation´s culture is focused on work, but also on the (Catholic) religion. The most common sources of images in Slovak phraseology are work and religious elements. Work, as well as moral, intellectual and spiritual contents are also frequently expressed in phraseological units. This confirms the fact that culture is reflected in phraseology.","PeriodicalId":230296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Foreign Studies","volume":"111 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131870448","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a result, literary publishers find themselves under considerable financial stress, and this is particularly true for small press publishers which are in competition with major, corporate publishers. However, when small presses find ways to adapt to the economic realities they face, they have a chance of survival. E-publishing technologies also hold forth the potential of reaching out to a new generation of readers.","PeriodicalId":230296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Foreign Studies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123712681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Immediately after the harsh socio-political period of the early communist regime in Romania (1948-1964), a more relaxed censorship allowed Romanian writers to rediscover their pre-communist genealogy and to allow themselves to look at the new literary productions coming from the West. The literary criticism followed this dual trend. As a consequence the field was divided into several categories, mostly following the lines imposed in this particular area by the new French literary school. The structural tension between the old school and the new trends will generate an intense debate but also a spectacular birth of a generation.","PeriodicalId":230296,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Foreign Studies","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134312705","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
