Engaged colleagues will provide their critical approaches, reflections and proposals upon how we can understand and recognize adult and lifelong learning through communities trying to reach for peace, understanding , social inclusion and sensitive intercultural and intergenerational aspirations in times of difficulties and challenges affecting our vulnerable relationships. This paper will try to point out matters of equity, human discoveries of collection, sharing and saving values, tradition and dignities through Learning Communities in four different cultural environments from the British Isles, India, Palestine and Hungary. Their urban frames might not be necessarily called or considered as Learning Cities, but labels and notions are not the first priority. The first part of the paper based on the theoretical perspectives of Peter Jarvis develops a framework for the definition of a social experience as a collective biographical disjuncture. Based on that definition, the paper exposes the assumptions that have been challenged during the pandemic era in the areas of social interaction, education, and employment. Finally, the paper argues that critical learning may provide to adults with the necessary cognitive \"antibodies\" to overcome the side-effects of the pandemic in our social life in the postpandemic period.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125934738","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our analysis rests on two perspectives, i.e. evaluations of training quality, which frequently vastly differ from one another, as we are about to see. Both the trainees and independent estimators-andragogues reviewed the quality of the training. The research of training quality has been performed on the basis of double evaluations of certain aspects (properties, traits) and elements (constituent parts) of adult vocational training at an informal educational institution in Belgrade. Following the theoretical analysis of key terms, such as the quality of adult education and adult training, the work presents the methodological framework of the empirical segment of the research, with a more detailed analysis of the achieved results. The analysis prompted us to conclude that examining training quality from the perspective of two different participants results in two very different evaluations and thus perceptions of training quality. Such findings bring us back to certain fundamental questions regarding the quality of (adult) education and highlight the complexity of \"measuring\" quality and quality management, in that regard. Furthermore, within our final remarks, we presented a pathway to the present development of a quality system for training and organizational work with the status of JPOA (publicly recognized organizer of adult education activities) in Serbia and we additionally highlighted various orientations towards quality in adult education.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129450769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After a brief introduction intended to explain what improvisation is and what kind of improvisation this paper refers to, we move on to explain the importance of improvisation for education, as well as the importance of teaching improvisation techniques to educational workers. To illustrate the role that improvisation has or may have in the educational process, we highlight the \"yes, and...\" principle, which is thought to be essentially describing the main features of improvisation, primarily acceptance (of an offer) and building upon it. On these rationales, we derived a thesis regarding the existence of a link among such characteristics, on the one hand, as well as activation and creativity, on the other, as important components that work together in the development of a motivational and developmental educational environment. In the end, we provided an example of teaching improvisation through workshop engagement using a detailed description of a workshop along with instructions for particular exercises and explaining their significance, in the precise way it was conducted with adult participants.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120901535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As opposed to outcome-based education, “pedagogy of the event” is concerned with the unknown, and learning involves a move into a new or modified ontological state. Within this paper, a philosophical basis for the idea of threshold for learning process is outlined and some of the implications on education are presented. We conclude with the notion that liminality in education, as understood within the concept of pedagogy of the event, challenges normalizing and disciplining educational practices by creating radical openness towards the unknown.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128048225","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative research study examines different professional biographies and identities of staff working in adult education in Serbia. The research creates a link between the professional careers of the interviewed staff and the professionalization structures, which are put forward by the Law on Adult Education. The results indicate that the professional self-concept is influenced by various factors on the societal, political, institutional and individual level. The sample comprised 575 subjects, including mothers and fathers of pre-schoolers. The attained results demonstrated that mothers perceive themselves as more competent in the parenting role, regardless of the child's sex, and that parents whose children live with both parents deem themselves more competent. Furthermore, we concluded that financial status and whether the child is undergoing pre-school education are additional determinants of parents' pedagogical competence for the parenting role. The following factors were of little relevance in the study sample: the living environment of the child, parent age, number of children in the family and parental educational level. The obtained results are important for shedding light on parental actions in raising children, as well as for underlining possible changes in behaviour and opinions.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133140623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Starting with the premise that perceiving teachers' perspective is of vital importance for understanding this process, the goal of our research was to examine the experiences of teachers throughout continual professional training for the application of innovative teaching methods with the help of facilitators. By applying qualitative thematic analysis, we have examined audio recording transcripts created during 18 individual conversations that the facilitators conducted with three teachers from a primary school in Belgrade. The results of the research show that the experiences of teachers in this process are overall positive and that it prompted them to reconsider existing practices and implicit pedagogical beliefs, and introduced positive developments in their work. The individual work of facilitators with teachers founded on trust demonstrates potential when it comes to encouragement and maintaining teachers' motivation for implementing innovations and undergoing further professional training. We have highlighted the key implications of the obtained findings and provided guidelines for further research in the area.","PeriodicalId":229688,"journal":{"name":"Andragoske studije","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123995824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
