A qualitative research study examines different professional biographies and identities of staff working in adult education in Serbia. The research creates a link between the professional careers of the interviewed staff and the professionalization structures, which are put forward by the Law on Adult Education. The results indicate that the professional self-concept is influenced by various factors on the societal, political, institutional and individual level.
