For the examination, this study employed 272 nonprofit organizations with a board from Giving Korea 2019 by the Beautiful Foundation which include information regarding organizational operating status. As a result of analysis, most nonprofit organizations had experts as board members, and the proportion of representatives of volunteers and beneficiaries was the lowest. In addition, among the roles of the board, the level of participation of establishing organizational strategies role was the highest, while, the level of participation of fundraising and giving activities role was the lowest. As a result of the regression analysis, the size of the board, the presence of beneficiary representatives, role of establishing organizational strategies, and role of fundraising and giving activities had a significant relationship with the annual fundraising amount of nonprofit organizations. This study contributed to expanding a comprehensive understanding of the board of directors, which plays a key role in operation and performance of nonprofit organizations. Moreover, by empirically discussing the relevance to the organization's fundraising performance, this study contributed to providing enlarged theoretical and practical understanding of the board of directors and fundrasing performance of nonprofit organization.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126947919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, this study would qualitatively explore the meaning of college freshmen’s experiences of development during the school class transition period in the COVID-19 situation. To do so, in-depth interviews were held with seven college freshmen who went through the transition period at the time, and the data were analyzed step by step according to the descriptive phenomenological qualitative research method proposed by Giorgi (1985). As a result, 15 components and five categories of the research participants’ perceptions and experiences were vividly revealed. In particular, the categories included “The end of high school years suddenly mixed up due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” “The opportunity barely seized to grow the dream inside and outside the school due to the threat of the infectious disease,” “The college looking empty reached after going through the turmoil of disaster,” “The microsystem’s support that comforted the inevitably lonesome early year as a college student,” and “My mind that allowed myself to hold out the loose entry into adulthood.” In addition, these resulted in the central topic, “The adulthood opened by sprouting the dream in my way despite the school class transition entangled by anxiety.” Lastly, this study made suggestions for supporting the healthy and happy daily life of young adults living while cultivating development during the school class transition period to college in the COVID-19 situation.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123995689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It was conducted with the aim of seeking ways to enhance community resilience from the perspective of community welfare. It means, intended to examine the mitigation effect of community resilience on the negative relationship between disaster damage experience and recovery level. Community resilience is one of the important concepts in disaster management. It is one of the social resources needed when community experiences a crisis such as a disaster. This study was using the data from ‘2021 Disaster Victims Damage and Recovery research on the actual condition' of National Disaster Management Institute(NDMI). The data came from a sample 1,807 respondents(household) who experienced disasters in south korea, from 2018 to 2020. The program ’SPSS WIN 25.0’ was used for descriptive analysis, Pearson's correlation and regression analysis. The research results are as follows. First, it was found that economic, psychological, physical, and daily difficulties from the disaster experiences had a negative (-) significant effect on the level of recovery. Second, it was found that community resilience had a significant moderating effect on the negative relationship between economic and psychological damage and the level of recovery among disaster damage experiences. This study is meaningful in that it empirically confirmed that it is necessary to enhance the resilience of the local community in order to increase the level of recovery of disaster victims. In order to enhance the resilience of the community, social welfare practices of the local community were proposed.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127555240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, this study used panel data from the Disaster Victim Panel Survey (wave 1-4) conducted by the National Disaster Management Research Institute, and classified trajectory types of posttraumatic stress disorder using latent class growth analysis. In addition, multinominal logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine socio-demographic, disaster victim, and social capital factors associated with latent groups. The main results are as follows. First, according to the trajectory of posttraumatic stress disorder among disaster victims, the latent groups were classified into three groups, which includes low-risk group (74.2%), moderate-risk group (20.4%), and high-risk group (5.5%). Second, the more level of social solidarity as one of social capital, the study participants were likely to be in a low-risk group rather than a high-risk group or a moderate-risk group. Third, the more having damage of human life, the study participants tended to be in a high-risk group than a low-risk group. Fourth, the worse the subjective health prior to the disaster, the study participants were likely to be in a moderate-risk group than a low-risk group. Based on these results, the study discussed social welfare practice and policy implications for prevention and intervention of posttaumatic stress disorder among disaster victims.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123895623","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 2019 survey data collected by the Aged Society and Social Capital Research Center was utilized, and 500 older people living in Seoul City and other Metropolitan areas and 500 older people living in rural areas were analyzed. T-tests, χ2 tests, correlational analyses, and regression analyses were conducted to answer the study questions. Regression analyses revealed that neighborhood social cohesion moderated the relationship between perceived health status and leisure-time utilization in the group of rural older adults, but, for those who living in urban areas, such moderating effect was not found. Findings from the current study highlight the role of the neighborhood social cohesion as a community-level social support resource that can encourage older adults to actively engage in more diverse leisure activities.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129934680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this end, this study employs data from the 7th (2018) of Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging with 2,028 parents living apart from their children. The provision and reception of functional solidarity between parents and adult children are set as the first-order latent variables, associational solidarity and functional solidarity as the second-order latent variables, and intergenerational solidarity as the third-order latent variable. Four types are derived using a Generalized Structural Equations Model (GSEM): ‘Disconnected Type’ with low associational and functional solidarity, ‘Associational Solidarity Type’ with only minimal high-level associational solidarity, ‘Loose Solidarity Type’ with a medium level of associational and functional solidarity, and ‘Strong Solidarity Type’ with both high level of associational and functional solidarity. As a result of analyzing the influence factors focusing on the ‘Strong Solidarity Type’ - the highest intergenerational solidarity – the geographical proximity between parents and children, the income of parent households, and the residential areas are found to be important determinants. From these results, policy implications are presented, and suggestions are put forth for follow-up research.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"94 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132938975","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Using the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KoWePS), conducted from 2012 to 2021, data from 518 older adults aged 65 and over whose depression can be estimated for at least three years after widowhood were analyzed. A Growth Mixture Model (GMM) was applied to derive the types according to the changing patterns of depression, and a binary logistic regression analysis was performed to identify the factors affecting the derived types. As a result of the analysis, a total of two types were classified according to the change in depression. \u0000Type 1 was found to be a ‘reducing type’ in which the level of depression gradually decreased while maintaining certain level of depression, and for Type 2, an ‘increasing type’ in which the initial level of depression was higher than that of Type 1 and continued to increase thereafter. \u0000The older the individual, the more likely he or she is to live in an urban area rather than a suburban area, and if they have disability, the greater the probability that they belong to the 'increasing type' rather than the 'reducing type'. The study included 660 the elderly living alone over the age of 65 who were selected from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) panel data from the fifth year(2014) to the eighth year(2020). Panel regression analysis with random effect model was used to determine the influence of physical, emotional, and social factors on cognitive function. The findings are as the followings: First, the poor elderly living alone were more vulnerable in cognitive function, sociodemographic, physical, and psychological aspects compared to the non-poor elderly living alone. Second, age, level of education, area of residence, religion, subjective health status, depression, life satisfaction, and frequency of contact with close friends were found to be common factors for the elderly living alone groups. Third, gender, activities of daily living, and exercise frequency were found to be factors affecting the cognitive function of the poor elderly living alone, and the number of chronic diseases was that of the non-poor elderly living alone. Through this, it is suggested that it is necessary to classify the elderly living alone according to living conditions such as poverty status. \u0000It is needed to be recognized that living alone is a natural form of life rather than an unconditional negative life. It is necessary to pay attention to identifying and supporting the high-level needs of the elderly living alone, such as the ability to live independently, perception of the meaning of life, and self-actualization.","PeriodicalId":228547,"journal":{"name":"The Center for Social Welfare Research Yonsei University","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131222020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
