Treatments to be performed on patients include corrective surgery and orthodontic treatment. One of the treatments that should be prepared before corrective surgery is the rehabilitation of the oral cavity. A girl aged 15 years came to the Cleft Center RSGM FKG Unpad to get treatment for her cleft palate. The treatment plan will include pre-bone grafting orthodontic treatment, bone grafting, and the post-bone grafting orthodontic treatment. In preparation for that, rehabilitation of the oral cavity need to be done, including root canal treatment for teeth 11, 26 and 46 that was diagnosed with necrotic pulp, and composite restorations to tooth 25. Treatment is done with manual ProTaper system (hand-use) and the filler selected was gutta-percha because the success rate is high. Root canal treatment on the tooth 11, 26, 46 has been done and achieved the expected results. The patient is now on the stage of pre bone grafting orthondontic treatment. Gutta-percha is an option for root canal filling material, made from natural materials, flexible, and adequate in filling root canals together with sealer, and more stable to degradation. One of the keys to success for correction of cleft lip and palate is the free-infection oral environment that were achieved during the rehabilitation of the oral cavity due to support further treatment stage.","PeriodicalId":228221,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Material Kedokteran Gigi","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114810739","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The flow property of the such impression has been not elucidated yet. The aim of the study was to evaluate the flow property of alginate impression mixed with gargle solution. Aroma Fine Plus alginate impression material was used and mixed with aquadest as control and Minosep, Betadine and Total Care gargle solutions. Ratio between alginate and each solutions were performed by following the producer’s guidance as 8.4gr alginate and 20ml solution. The every alginate mixtures were made in triplicate (n=3). Measurement of flow capability was performed by using 0.5ml of alginate mix laid on glass plate covered with cellophane strip and loaded with 1kg metal for 1 minute. The major and minor diameters were measured by using digital caliper. Data were analyzed by using one way ANOVA (α= 0.05). Aroma Fine mixed with aquadest showed the flow capability was about 26.18mm. Mixed with Minosep showed about 27.85mm, with Betadine 29.19mm and Total Care 27.11mm respectively. Statistically show a significant different flow capability between aquadest and Betadine mixed impression (p=0.01). Minosep and Total Care gargle solutions showed insignificant different with aquadest mixed impression (p>0.05). It can be concluded that the utilizing of Minosep and Total care gargle solution as solutions mixed with alginate impression material have no effect to flow property of the impression, except by using Betadine gargle solution.","PeriodicalId":228221,"journal":{"name":"Jurnal Material Kedokteran Gigi","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127422466","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Time exposure affects the hardness of the composite resin material. This experiment aims to determine differences in exposure time with LED on the hardness of bulkfill composite resin. This experiment is a true experiment. The samples are bulkfill composite resin with diameter of 6 mm and thickness of 4 mm. There were 3 groups of samples (n=5) and cured with LED with intensity 1000mW/cm2. Group 1 was exposed for 10 seconds, group 2 for 20 seconds, and group 3 for 40 seconds. The samples were soaked in distilled water 37oC for 24 hours in waterbath. Microvickers hardness with the load of 100 grams in 15 seconds applied to the samples on the lower and the upper surface. The result found that the ratio of hardness both 10 seconds and 20 seconds, and 20 seconds and 40 seconds are no significant. The ratio hardness of 10 seconds and 40 seconds had significant difference. Based on the research irradiation time effect resin bulkfill composite hardness. It means that the more monomer polymerized the more higher hardness could be achived. Some research found that degradation of ECM by MMP-8 and TIMP-1 as a inhibitor during gingivitis. Roselle as a herbal plant in the treatment began to increase. Roselle is rich in Phytochemical compound which has been shown to reduce inflammation. This research determined effectiveness of roselle extract gel 10% in reducing gingivitis in patients using acrylic-resin crown and related to changes in mRNA MMP-8/TIMP-1 gene expression ratio. The subjects were 9 patients who has gingivitis post resin-acrylic crown insertion and divided in to three groups treatment with roselle extract gel 10%, negative control (base gel), and positive control (Povidon iodine). GCF samples were taken in cervical area of acrylic-resin crown with paper strips before and seven days after application of roselle extract gel 10%. The change of ratio MMP-8 and TIMP-1 m RNA gene expression is tested using Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction. Paired- T test shows on negative control group (p=0,301, p<0,05) does not show any change ratio of mRNA MMP- 8/TIMP-1, on positive control, there is changing ratio but not significant(p =0,060). The use of desensitizing agent such as hydroxyapatite and Eugenia caryophyllus can be used as home treatment that can relieve tooth hypersensitivity. Hydroxyapatite is an inorganic compound that makes up the hard tissues of the human body such as bone, dentine and tooth. Hydroxyapatite has a mechanism to decrease dental hypersensitivity by inducing remineralization of the teeth and close the open dentinal tubules. Eugenia caryophyllus is a material that is used in the field of dentistry and can reduce the pain of tooth hypersensitivity by suppressing nerve receptors in the perception of pain felt by the patient. The aim of this study is to determine the influence of hydroxyapatite-based toothpaste and Eugenia caryophyllus against tooth hypersensitivity. In this observational research, researcher give different type of toothpaste to two groups of research subjects and measure the changes in tooth sensitivity for 15 days. The value of tooth hypersensitivity before and after treatment is tested using Electric Pulp Test (EPT). Independent t-test shows the result of p value = 1.30 (p>0.05).
