Based on the results of the survey, students analytical skills are still low, so an active learning strategy is needed that can improve students' analytical skills. Active learning strategies that can be used are Critical Incident strategies. This study aims to determine the effect of using Critical Incident learning strategies on students' analytical skills on the subject of environmental change. The research was carried out in class X MAN 9 Jakarta from March to June 2017. The research method used was quasi-experimental research design using posttest only control design. The population of this study were all students of class X MIA totaling 104 students. The data collection uses a multiple-choice test consisting of 24 items that are integrated with three types of indicators of analytical skills that are differentiating, organizing and attributing. The results showed that the average posttest value of the analytical skills of the experimental class was 64.88 while the control class was 62.49. Hypothesis testing through t-test at the significance level α = 5% obtained t count = 1.74 while t table = 1.67, because t count is greater than t table then H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The method used is pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest design. The concept of student mastery Angiospermae measured using about pretest and posttest which refers to the Revised Bloom's Taxonomy. Students 'attitudes toward science was measured by using a Likert scale questionnaire-4, the indicators used refer to the PISA 2006 results showed the achievement scores of N-gain students' mastery of concepts of 0.69 and including medium category. For the students' attitudes toward science, the results showed the achievement scores of N-gain of 0.34 and including medium category. Furthermore, these two variables were tested correlations to see the relationship between students' mastery of concepts and attitudes towards science. Correlation test showed the value of r = 0.612 and a strong correlation category. The response of students to the activities of PjBL with the portfolio after measured using questionnaire responses of students to learning with Likert scale-4, including into either category. The subject of this study is first grade-students in one of public high school in Bandung. To reveal metacognitive awareness, we used Metacognitive Awareness Inventory modified from Schraw and Dennison (1994). The results of this research revealed that majority of students have good metacognitive awareness level, and the rest are very good and adequate. Then, majority of students have good level of knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition aspect. The results also revealed that there are very high correlation between knowledge about cognition and regulation of cognition. Metacognitive awareness indicators have also high correlation among them, except declarative and procedural knowledge, which have a low correlation. Through this research, we found that project-based learning are able to facilitated the students to use their metacognitive awareness in Environtmental Polution concepts with the learning process.","PeriodicalId":228210,"journal":{"name":"Assimilation: Indonesian Journal of Biology Education","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134560520","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The type of research is pre-experiment which analyzed by correlation method. Then the study design using the post-test only design with a total sample of 39 students of grade 10 and for sampling technique uses simple-random sampling technique. Student’s concepts mastery on material environmental pollution are identified using the instrument in the form of multiple choice questions and essay question, while the level of ability to assess the credibility of the source is identified based on the accuracy of the students sort the level of credibility of source and the students' answers on the criteria that they use to sort the credibility of the source, which is scored with a rubric that has been made. The average score of students' mastery of concepts is 74.1 and quite good. In addition, through one sample t-test was also proven when problem-based learning have a real or significant influence on students' mastery of concepts in the matter of environmental pollution. Correlation test is then performed using the non parametric statistical using Spearman correlation, and got score 0.82 for correlation coefficient, which means having a high correlation with a contribution of 67.5%.
